What interesting things have you only recently learned about?
To be clear, this is about things which have been true for some time and you only recently learned about, not things that only happened recently. In particular, recent deaths of celebrities and other high-profile individuals should go in the General RIP Thread
.
So, what interesting things have you guys...and gals...only recently learned about?

Terraria has RGB integration
which works with my actual mouse.
(It doesn't do much because the mouse only has one light, but that light glows in a different color depending on what's happening in the game. It was right there in my hand and I didn't notice it.)
Suddenly I'm... still rotating Fallen London in my mind even though I've stopped actively playing it.There's a segment of the results screen theme of Mario Kart 64 that only plays after the rest of the music loops during over 50 minutes. This is likely due to a bug, similar to what happened to Flaahgra's boss music in the NTSC version of Metroid Prime.
135 -> 180 -> 273 -> 191 -> 188 -> 230 -> 300 -> 311Mario's species is Homo nintendonus (this is not actually true, it was made up by nerds on the internet).
Read Pokemon Ultimate EmeraldThe term "Dunning-Kruger effect" was created on Wikipedia by complete accident due to casual violations of their "no original research" policy
in 2005-2006; the paper by David Dunning and Justin Kruger never called it that and neither had anyone else until someone made a Wikipedia article about it.
The article was originally called "Dunning-Kruger Syndrome", too; it got moved to "effect" because someone correctly pointed out that "Dunning-Kruger Syndrome" didn't appear anywhere outside Wikipedia but then swerved away from the point at the last second and moved it to a different equally-unsourced title instead of using a more proper-sourcey method.
Suddenly I'm... still rotating Fallen London in my mind even though I've stopped actively playing it.Ian Watkins got an extra 10 months in 2019 for smuggling a phone.
Peace is the only battle worth waging. My workplace takes Martin Luther King Jr. day off. Noticed that five minutes before it was time to clock in. Good thing I work from home, otherwise I'd have wasted a lot of unneeded transit time...
in my defense my previous workplace did not take this day off

Check out my forum game: Rate the above YMMV.Wikipedia has a page on Thirst Traps
and it's fucking hilarious. It makes being "Thirsty" sound like a disease and has the best Wikipedia image caption so far:
- A shirtless man taking a bathroom selfie
I don't know, I'm also rather partial to the cat absolutely covered in packing material
◊ used in the static electricity article.
It took me an embarrassingly long time to learn 'Anything Goes' wasn't a song invented for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
The Protomen enhanced my life.My partner recently got me into the group Ice Nine Kills and I ended up looking them up on Wikipedia - Based on the music videos she's shown me, I thought they exclusively did horror-film themed songs, but that's really only been the case since 2018, about 12 years and 4 albums into their recording career. Also, the precursor to the horror-themed albums was a literature-themed one
, where only about half the source material could be considered "horror". I kinda want to go listen to the latter album sometime soon, as I do have a thing for songs about books.

Yuri Lowenthal is 51. I assumed he was a decade younger for some reason.
Peace is the only battle worth waging. The ESRB officially retired the Early Childhood rating in 2018.

If both players were to have all five pieces of Exodia in their hand at the same time, the duel ends in a draw.
