What interesting things have you only recently learned about?
To be clear, this is about things which have been true for some time and you only recently learned about, not things that only happened recently. In particular, recent deaths of celebrities and other high-profile individuals should go in the General RIP Thread.
So, what interesting things have you guys...and gals...only recently learned about?

1, 2, and 5 peso coins post 1993 are magnetic, due to having a stainless steel outer ring.
I was gonna ask "Mexican peso or Philippine peso?", but then I reread it and there are no 2 Philippine peso denominations in the current years.
I remember some 1 peso coins from 2001 and 2005 having those.

So in the Labyrinth of the Ancients, there's a bit between "clear the Walk of Fire" and "defeat the Behemoth" where you jump off a ledge.
... There's stairs on both sides of that ledge. You're not supposed to jump. I mean, you're gonna, it's faster and fall damage out of combat is meaningless, but... stairs. They exist.

Peace is the only battle worth waging.I had been listening to a cover version of the Next song Too Close, by local boy band Blue when I was growing up and I have only just recently discovered the original version of the song.
You're supposed to wait 1-2 hours after eating to lie down.
My always told me it was 30 minutes. 2 hours seems way too long.
The city of Venice has/had the nickname "La serenissima" (the most serene). Which kinda explains why (Northern) Italy/Italia Veneziano got the human name Feliciano in Axis Powers Hetalia (the root is felix, or happy).
Only 1% has been discovered from the mausoleum of Emperor Shi Huangdi of China. It's due to the complexity of the inverse pyramidic structure, how the workers of the tomb were bumped off to keep the secret of the tomb, and the high mercury content.
So far, the Terracotta Army is the most prominent discovery, and they were painted on to look more lifelike.

I should probably get back to playing The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion someday, but I keep getting distracted. :PWith Aeon Timeline, you don't have to stick with the standard Gregorian calendar if your project doesn't call for it. You can create an Alternate Calendar, but only if you do it before you edit anything in your project.
I hope you get tiny bits of eggshell in all your omelettes for the rest of your life!https://dionovertoun.wordpress.com/2017/06/28/radu-the-queer-brother-nobody-cares-dracula-had/
I knew about Vlad Tepes (the inspiration for Dracula) having two older brothers and a younger brother, but I never knew that Radu was LGBT and was said to be involved with a sultan named Sultan Mehmed II. Apparently, instead of this being speculation, it's historically confirmed this was romantic rather than platonic. Even his brother is well-remembered in Romania today, it would actually be interesting if Radu was made more apart of the Dracula lore. Heck, I think more focus should be given to his other brothers, so that they can be put in the vampire stories. Also this means canonically Alucard from Hellsing could have more fanfiction about him meeting with his brothers again. I think he would have the most bitter feelings towards Radu, because he sided with the Turks over his people.
Wow, "impalement" just got a gutter meaning for Radu.
ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔|I DO COMMISSIONS|ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔I also found out that Vlad Dracul the 2nd was an illegitimate child. Seriously, most Dracula based works that make him be Vlad the Impaler only seem to focus on his love life, instead of his family life because historically it seems that that was actually more dramatic for him than his marriage life. Radu in modern Romania is considered a traitor for siding with the Turks over his homeland.
