What interesting things have you only recently learned about?
To be clear, this is about things which have been true for some time and you only recently learned about, not things that only happened recently. In particular, recent deaths of celebrities and other high-profile individuals should go in the General RIP Thread
.
So, what interesting things have you guys...and gals...only recently learned about?

Regardless of how accurate it is, bringing it up to shut down animal activist concerns kinda smacks of Hitler Ate Sugar.
And now I see that the current image of that trope page is a picture of Hitler playing with a dog, lol.

It's mostly because a lot of extreme vegan and animal activists commonly invoke comparing animal slaughter to the Holocaust. This really is a big case of Critical Research Failure due to how the Nazis were big anti-animal abuse activists themselves. Heck, even when people point it out to them, they try to turn to vegan alternative sources to make it seem like the Nazis didn't advocate for better treatment for animals. I think the reason why people point out this detail, because it shows that just because you are for animal rights doesn't mean that it will make you automatically a better person or advocate for human rights.

"Running in the 90s" has nothing to do with Sonic the Hedgehog.

FC: SW-1445-0294-1719/PSN: TekkenGirl4Lyfe/Currently playing: Croc: Legend of the Gobbos HDThe Detroit Lions were an answer on last night's "Jeopardy!" show. Specifically, the clue was "As of 2018, this NFC North team had never even made the Super Bowl, much less won it. But by 2030? Gotta happen, right?"
Ouch.
The Lions' last NFL championship was in 1957, before the Super Bowl existed. Since then, they have won exactly one playoff game.
The damned queen and the relentless knight.John Lennon partially based "I Am The Walrus" on "The Walrus and the Carpenter," but he didn't realize that the Walrus was the villain of the poem.
His reaction
, "Oh shit, I picked the wrong guy," must have been hilarious to hear.
But he then admitted that "I am the carpenter" wouldn't have had as good of a ring to it.
It began with the grilling of the Great Burgers. Three were given to the Elves, immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings. Seven to the Dwarf-Lords, great miners and craftsmen of the mountain halls. And fourteen, fourteen burgers were gifted to the kings of Men, who above all else desire power. For within these burgers was bound the strength and the will to govern each race. But they were all of them deceived, for another burger was made. Deep in the land of SoCal, in the Suburbs of Tarzana, the Dark Lord Chris Brown cooked a master burger, and into this burger he poured his cruelty, his malice and his will to dominate all life.
One Burger King to rule them all.

One day, we will read his name in the news and cheer. Most of Toaplan's game licenses are now owned by a company named Tatsujin (which I'm gonna guess got its name from the Toaplan game of the same name) directed by former composer Masahiro Yuge. They're also looking for people to work on the games
