I've been watching the Nicos of 2nd OG playthroughs. It seems that Aqua is a favourite thus far, saying she's cute for 23 years old.

Also, Tornado Zankantou has a hilariously large attack power

"...Cute for a 23 year old"? Ack. >.<

Would you expect anything less of Sanger and Elzam, though?[lol]

Well, YMMV about Aqua of course. For me, I think I know what the japs mean: she's basically the poster girl for 'surprised moe'. Her surprised look is..... pleasant to the eyes. Not to mention she's surprised most of the time.

Hilariously, her voice actress is one of the youngest in the cast. [lol]

Well, it's more that they seem to be implying that 23 year olds (and, uh, older... >.<) aren't supposed to be cute.sad

I suppose she is kind of cute... Even if her costume screams "trying too hard".[lol]

She has to wear a swimsuit under a jacket because working with DFG requires a lot of movement. As she said herself.

Heheh. Well, it's not like it's the worst reasoning ever, and there's far more fanservicey character designs in the series anyways... Besides, she looks good in it, which is what really matters, right?

I guess....

Also, one of the fan complaints about this game? "Too much memory losses wwww"

Of course, Alfimi was faking it. At the end of the battle she handed over Axel from the core of Personlichkeit, and it's off to next mission

One of the acceleration SFX from the cutscenes sounds suspiciously like the one used in every doujin shooter ever. Must be public domain, I guess.

You've just reminded me of the Super Robot Wars K and Chrono Trigger connection. I'm not accusing them of stealing in this case, but that never fails to amuse me. As is often the case with plagiarism.

Thing is, I noticed a while back that most of the shmups in the doujin scene shared sound effects and I was told that the dev teams all used the same SFX library - hence why we occasionally get little girls sounding like Vipers. This isn't the first time that I've heard Japan's version of AAA titles using the sounds too and it's always amusing to see it happen.

I'm guessing that the library itself is a compilation of popular SFX from older big titles.

Yeah, pretty sure that's the case. It's the same reason we've all heard the door sounds from Doom in a billion other different places, ahah~

I've been watching all the shows that are to be in UX. clearly I am insane

But I see a general theme forming, one about humanity's interactions with the incomprehensible. I know that Fafner, Trailblazer, Demonbane, Frontier, Dancougar Nova, and Linebarrels all involve large entities decidedly not relatable to humans. Plus, this entails a setting without a central Gundam-esque war, if the whole Post-Script Season thing of Destiny is to be believed. So the whole point might be a thing where chaos is an inherent part of the universe, and won't just be solved by the end of war.

Any reason Hiroi Oji does not like SRW up to the point he'll never add Sakura Taisen/Wars in it?

I...don't think it's a matter of "letting in" so much as it is "buying licenses to things the Banpresto staff wants". And Sakura Taisen doesn't seem like the sort of thing they'd really...have an idea of what to do with. It looks like it'd fit almost as well as having Excel Saga in there just because it had that dumb dinosaur robot. But then, I don't know much about the series, but the whole giant robot angle seems more like an accent to the story than a central thing that's of importance.

It's telling that when I image search it, the first mecha I see is this dumb round pink thing a few dozen pages down.

It's a bit of a weird game. Half the time it's a dating sim, the other half of the time it's a turn-based mecha strategy game where the pilots' abilities are determined by your relationship to them — you being the mecha squad commander.

If anything, Sakura Taisen Kobus are really 'primitive' compared to any shit.

Yeah. Kobu's are pretty much steam and magic driven vehicles designed for taking on ancient magical horror. Not so much for fighting giant mechanized robots.

We've seen that one lady from Gear Fighter Dendoh fight on foot without any Powered Armor without being Master Asia or Kamina. Bamco can jack anyone up enough to fit in their game if they so desire.

I think that the biggest (har har) problem with the Sakura Wars games is that the protagonists don't really get large mecha. The Kobus would have to be upsized to an even larger extent than the VOTO Ms A Ts to be rendered in the same kind of detail as the average Mobile Suit, meaning the girls would be (by implication) Meltrandi - sized during their combat sequences.

Then again, what Bamco wants...

[up]The size thing doesn't really make sense, though, when you consider that Knightmare Frames got in with no problem, and they're mostly around 4 meters tall. And that's before we even get into Tekkaman Blade's inclusion.[lol]

Would love to see Sakura Wars get included in an SRW, honestly, if only because I could die happy if I saw a Sanger/Gemini combination attack.[lol]

Really, it probably has a pretty decent chance of getting in compared to, say... Magic Knight Rayearth, for example, which whilst it's inclusion would be awesome the mecha only mostly show up in the second half of the series and... Yeah.

On that tangent, would love to see more fantasy-based mecha showing up at some point. Or at the very least the return of Vision Of Escaflowne.waii And... I'm rambling. Whoops. >.<

The Masou Kishin are as fantasy based as mecha can get, albeit with Clarke's Third Handwave, and have abilities even more logic defying than Rayearth and his brethren - though to be fair the latter haven't received a Bamco makeover to my knowledge. Then there's series mainstay Zeorymer and the various final bosses e.g. Ephes.

Eh, Sanger's not likely to show up with any more non-originals, unless they make an Alpha 4, or they do something silly and actually use Divine Wars or The Inspector as a show. And regardless, he certainly wouldn't do a combination with anyone cept Elzam.

Anyway, I have come to the conclusion that Demonbane must henceforth be the central driving plot of UX, mostly because occult stuff would allow for all the /weird/ stuff that is coming in. The Festum and the ELS would basically have to be the same thing, and hell, I'm not sure if the ELS can actually really stand on their own, given the lack of a central antagonist they present. So a battle against the Mark Nicht in the trippy ELS core would be a pretty likely scenario. Also I'm pretty sure we're going to have silly idol shenanigans and possible character implications, with Sheryl and/or Ranka having to decide between their role as pop icons slowly fading away due to Miku's presence, or becoming like Lacus did.

No, we should have a new SRW series after SRW UX, something like rebooting Alpha, with no SRX Team, no Balshem/Gozzo hijinks, no Masou Kishin, and no Ze Balmary Empire, and this series should comprise only of Sakura Taisen, Zone of the Enders, Cybernator/Assault Suits Valken and Front Mission, as well as Powered Armor series like Sky Girls, Strike Witches, and Infinite Stratos.

[up]Most of those plots and abilities crossing over cannot possibly make sense, let alone crossing over (the plot) with each other.
