I think I was the one who put that there... I thought it was funny because by the time I had seen episode 5 of Rei, I was already watching Umineko and I thought that such a comment was perfectly in character for Bernkastel. Of course that was still Rika, but at that point in time, she was also Bernkastel as well. <<< (Umineko spoilers)

I'm currently working on a paper for why I'm studying Japanese, and in an attempt to make myself look like less of a weeaboo I'm putting down a few things I have noticed about Japanese culture in anime.
Like for instance, how the religion of Oyashiro-sama in Higurashi is a blasphemous inversion of Shinto.
http://twitter.com/raydere | http://raydere.tumblr.comI'm at episode 9 in Kai right now. I still have no freaking idea how or why Miyo Takano can be the villian. But I assume I will be pleasantly surprised when I find out how.
Also, It looks like the same three or four arcs repeat themselves over and over, and are started by triggers - the doll, etc. I still have no idea if Tsumihoroboshi-hen and Tatarigoroshi-hen happen in the same "arc" and if the Great Hinamizawa Disaster happens every time.
Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about.Wait till Minagoroshi ends. I think by that time (or somewhere in the middle of Matsuribayashi) these triggers will be explained.
Though IIRC, it's said that there are many countless other Hinamizawas that occurred, and we, the viewers just aren't shown it. There's a dispute over whether Mion ever went bonkers, but since no world we've seen has that happen, most people assume she never went ballistic.

Ooh!~
Watanagashi-hen really was Mion going nuts, and Meakashi shows what happens when the same process is repeated when Shion goes Ax-Crazy.
I want to play Higurashi Daybreak, but I have no idea where to find it or if it's even translated and for the PC.
Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about.I found a torrent for it a long time ago and burned it to a CD so I can't show you where did I get it from, but it is for PC and it's in japanese. But it's nothing you can't get around just by fumbling around in the menus, trying to think "if this was in English, how would they have arranged the main menu?" etc.
Although it's a bit funny when your team and the other team have their Oyashiro gauge ready, deploy it and all you hear is "(Japanese)", "(Japanese)?!", High-pitched Evil Laughter and "USO DA!.".

Question: Did the white van trying to trample Keichi in onigawhatever ever get explained somewhere?
And that's how I ended up in the wardrobe. It Just Bugs Me!I had the same problem, i think there's a patch to make it work. But then again, I more or less sidestepped the problem because if I recall correctly, that happened because I needed said patch to make it run on Vista and circumstances forced me to unistall Vista and use XP.
So, the closest thing to advice i can give you is telling you to go look for the patches (I think they have them in a wiki about the game) or just get Windows XP.
Bleh... this thing is five freaking gigabytes...
At least the voice cast is the same. I read that it was the same people as the drama CD and I freaked. Turns out, it's still the same people. Yay!

Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about. It has an introductory cutscene made in the game's engine. It's cell-shaded. Also it has one as the ending for every team. and there's a crapload of banter going between the characters in the battles themselves, which may vary depending on your powerup system. So yeah, it's not that strange.
Ah, the powerup systems are:
- Oyashiro Mode: Meter fills up as you get hit, deploying it makes it so you don't stagger when hit by most attacks and also boosts your attack.
- Friendship Mode: Fills up as you attack, deploying it makes it so your ranged attacks come faster when both characters are focused on the same target. Is downright lethal when both team mates use it at once, but requires coordination.
- Kakera Mode: Meter fills up as you take damage, but slower than Oyashiro Mode. I think it deploys automatically when you die with a full gauge. It fills your HP up but it slowly goes down as your Kakera mode vanishes, but gives you a very big powerup. In fact, it's a tremendous powerup if you are playing as Hanyuu. Only available if you have the expnasion, Higurashi Daybreak Kai.
I reccomend Rena for begginers. If you have Kai, I reccomend her if you want to break the game with her BFS, the Ironclad Cleaver.
I have my working copy of Daybreak Kai here. Let's discuss that game here as well please.
My favorite strategies are general mid-range to melee combat with Rena, speed sniping with Shion using knives (her red charged ranged attack is a Psycho Crusher-like move with the knives in front), Mion sniping from afar, and Rika raining hell from the sky using her scythe.
Rika can be insanely fast when she uses the scythe as her weapon; I can outdodge most of Chie-sensei's T-squares or chalk and Shion's melee attacks when I'm using Rika and the scythe. Ooishi's grapple, on the other hand...
My preference is Friendship mode, but if I'm using a relatively soft character like Rika or Shion, I prefer using Oyashiro mode. I'm sucky using Kakera mode.

That's it? That's what I thought, but it's lame. They could've added an explanation on how they found out that, he didn't look that crazy anyway.
And that's how I ended up in the wardrobe. It Just Bugs Me!It's like.
The opening movie is all sunshine and happiness and then suddenly they're swinging knives at each other and Kei is wrecking the whole place with his bat, and apparently they can even use guns, and why can you play as the teacher, and who is Natsumi and. ... Gwah?

(wall o transcript)
Hanyuu: Auu~ Rena just confessed her love to Keiichi!
Rika(deadpan, in her adult voice): Yes, I heard. All that mushy crap is starting to tick me off.
Am I the only one who thought this was less of a CMOF and more like Mood Dissonance with a little bit of Dethroning Moment Of Suck? I honestly thought the exchange between K and Rena was heartwarming and Rika being all [[{{Tsundere tsuntsun]] about it kinda ruined the mood.
