It's not even quite slavery now that AIs have been officially emancipated. That said, EU does control her genetic line, so they can kill her nascent species off if she doesn't satisfy them, regardless of her legal status.

I understand what she's going for here, and it's good that she can find happiness in any situation, but you have to be careful about this sort of thing. If you just accept your situation for what it is, you'll never improve it. On a related note, you also sometimes see people pressing this view onto others. Older generation to young is most infamous, but it happens everywhere. "Why are you complaining that gay people can't get married? In my day, gay people weren't allowed out in public; be thankful for what you have!"
Just because things could be worse doesn't mean you give up the right to complain.
