Mega Man 11 signaled to me that the nostalgic pandering is over and the series will modernize.
The next step should be to find a way to lengthen the formula. One of Mega Man 11's problems is that it's too short in content. It was fine as a NES game, but now the formula needs to adapt.

Speaking off, this was an interesting fangame, it was being made by Stealth of Sonic Mania fame and Liz Sama, but nothing came out of it. But it had a lot of potential.

Well on one hand, the levels in Mega Man 11 were loooooooong.
On the other hand, they clearly had to cut down on the Wily Fortress levels compared to other games.
Mega man 11 should have had more playable characters considering the throwbacks had Proto Man and Bass.

As much shit as they get for repeating the plot beat I can see the reason for the takeout villain necessitating a second fortress to give more levels to the NES games
Although doing it like they often made some of the fortress stages half baked
And before fallout villains we had classic 3 where. Uh I guess it still was a takeout villain except differently. But we had the remixed Doc Robot stages

Mega Man 2 doesn't have a fake out stage, so the Wily levels are of good quality.

Maybe they could have a massive random dungeon? Still have the regular Robot Master levels, but also have a big-ass level separated into procedurally generated sections that you visit throughout the game?
In other news, I got to the first fight against Craft in Zero 4 and he's nearly unbeatable.

Got any healing items/subtanks/health-increasing cyber-elves? if not you'll probably have to restart the game. (That's what happened to me...)

Not for lack of trying. But with the new Parts and Cyberelf system, it's a lot harder to get upgrades and subtanks than 3. I've got an earlier save, but I still don't know if I can overpower him without grinding for parts and E-Crystals.

Subtanks and using the Cyber elf is the safe bet yes. Otherwise die die and die again till you win, that's the Zero philosophy.

Bare minimum. Didn't have enough E-crystals or Elf Levels to upgrade it.

Mino Magnus, Tech Kraken, Fenri Lunaedge, and Pegasolate Eclair. Went in blind, so I didn't know about using the weather system to get bosses abilities until later. Nor did I know I could get a subtank on my first level.

Now having more chararter apart of megaman would be next, 8 really improve on 7(not a hard feat, that it) and I wont mind more chararter with diferent gameplays.

It has some pretty crazy twists like Zero actually turning evil, and then the Zero from MMZ coming to help out X, and then a certain mad scientist comes back. I gotta say, seeing Harpuia and the other guardians helping X is a sight to see.
