In which we get updates from the lives of tropers. Kinda like Twitter with more than 140 characters, but less than a blog or LJ.
Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.

Lack of computer has led to discovering Netflix. Nice trade.
Solaris is kinda boring, though. My Western mind is unprepared for a half an hour of people talking in science fiction films.

Juan, one of my English teachers displayed 2001 in class. He fast forwarded through most of it, it was kind of funny. And in any case, if that's the problem I'll just read the book instead. I certainly enjoyed the book of 2001.
part of the problem is that I'm watching a bit technically, not that I have film training. I think about how they must have been shooting, old tricks that didn't get used way back when the film was made, etc.
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.@Tzetze: Ooooh, I like doing that. But its preferable to watch in a more...superficial way the first time.
Also, I just couldn't think of any other "talk-y" sci fi films that wasn't a B-Film...
Except maybe Sunshine...
"My life is my own" | If you want to contact me privately, please ask first on the forum.Soviet cinema in general is like that. Ivan The Terrible has minutes of Ivan surveying his army before the attack on Kazan. And hey, at least they're talking. Tarkovsky isn't always that generous.
What's the frequency Kenneth?|In case of war.Oh, I've probably watched some; I just forget the names.
And also, I'm finally getting to my copy of The Master And Margarita. It's not at all what I expected, but pretty enjoyable.
@rumetzen: Sorry, the film of what now?
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.I really should get that. My Russian teacher talked about how it got away criticizing Stalin by being so wonderfully obtuse.
What's the frequency Kenneth?|In case of war.Soviet cinema has that problem indeed.
Hmm, that reminds me, I need to finish Andrei Rublev at some point...
"My life is my own" | If you want to contact me privately, please ask first on the forum. It did? According to the introduction, the author had kind of a shitty life as a theater director because he couldn't write anything without Pravda stopping him.

I have returned home from the class that wasn't there.
