Troper Updates II, Part II

In which we get updates from the lives of tropers. Kinda like Twitter with more than 140 characters, but less than a blog or LJ.

Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.

Okay, confirmed. Apostrophes are still broken.

Cease your use of apostrophes until fora are fixed, etc.?

Oy, so do we just say "apostrophe" whenever we want em?

Can we replace apostrophes with.... double quotes? It"d look a bit weird, but understandable.

Then again, leaving out the apostrophe, thatd also produce understandable results, so whats the difference.

Maybe it*s an issue of style :P

Or we could not use contractions.

It is not so hard. Louie W is probably running circles around us.

Or!!!! We could all emulate the narrator and refuse to use contractions.

This is still a problem for possessives, however. Stupid English.

...let us post in German or something. I heard they use possessive -s, just without an apostrophe.

^^ Asterisks sure look cool, don*t they?

I had to rewrite my post to NOT include apostrophes.

Including apostrophe italics.

Hate to ruin your fun but it's fixed already. Wiki's being slow, though.

I guess I will choose not to use contractions, I mean, it is rather fun typing like this. Though damn, what about my lack of cutting off the first and second letter of every third word I make? I will not be able to live without that, man.

Well I guess I go back to mincing words now.

there are like ten pages left in Syntactic Structures why aren't I reading them

A lot of linguists don't use IPA, especially in language-specific works or ones that draw heavily on examples from a limited group of languages. It's kosher as long as you include a table.
