In which we get updates from the lives of tropers. Kinda like Twitter with more than 140 characters, but less than a blog or LJ.
Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.

Bleh. That wasn't fun, but it was satisfying.
Mom and dad were having a loud argument that I walked into the middle of, and dad started yelling at me, too, because the argument sorta was about me.
I responded to his shouting and bluster with silence and blunt sarcasm. I basically just waited until he shut up and went, "Cool. We done here? I'm thirsty," then left.
It wasn't an elegant solution, but I think it may have done what it was meant to: teach him that being the loudest man in the room doesn't mean he has authority, and that people respond better if he requests calmly and politely. I think this because after I'd left, he came into my room, apologized for yelling, and said what he wantted in a calmer, apologetic manner, which I rewarded by responding to positively.
Family troubles, y'know? Brutal.
@Blackmoon: Wish that worked in my family. Instead it gets my mom yelled at more.
Yes, when I respond, my mom gets yelled at more.
I don't want to talk about it.

"I can't imagine what Hell will have in store, but I know when I'm there, I won't wander anymore."@Blackmoon: Eh, I'm out of there now. No biggie. Glad it worked for you, though.
"I can't imagine what Hell will have in store, but I know when I'm there, I won't wander anymore."I hate Mandarin Chinese so much right now.
Half-Life: Dual Nature, a crossover story of reasonably sized proportions.@Blackmoon: This is how it always went: ME: Could I have a couple dollars to go to the movies? MOM: No, you can't. ME: But...you said I could an hour ago. MOM slams something on the table. MOM: WELL MAYBE IF YOU WANTED THIS SHIT, YOU SHOULD GET YOUR LAZY ASS OUT OF THE HOUSE AND FIND A DAMN JOB! Mom storms out of room.

RRRAAGHGHAFBAALAAAL!@Key: I know my difference.
Envy: Wanting what others have, and wanting to deprive them of it.
Jealousy: Wanting what others have.
I simply assumed that you meant the latter.
In any case I must head to bed soon so make your reply quick.
TVTropes Nuzlocke Thread. - Arceus Help Us All.Yeah, I'd definitely say that jealousy is more than just "wanting what others have". That's just coveting.
