In which we get updates from the lives of tropers. Kinda like Twitter with more than 140 characters, but less than a blog or LJ.
Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.

Got the last pieces of my costume today. Unfortunately the old man decided to be a douche canoe again so I'm hiding out in my room while I work on them, drowning his music out with my own until he decides to hit the hay. The details on the wings look a little messy but eh, it'll be fine~

I want to let you all know that I have made a very important decision today, one that I did not make lightly. -looks very serious, and then bursts into laughter- I’m just kidding, I made it right away. XD But anyway, I have decided that after Thanksgiving, I’m going to turn in my two week notice.
Woah, way to go! That's quite the big decision to make!

Thank you. :) And it’s a necessary one as well. One of my cashier friends is right. Before the COVID pandemic, the store I work at was very professionally run, and a nice place to work (emphasis on “nice”). :)
But now it has turned into a parody of itself. And a very bad parody, at that. x_x
It’s a letter you give to your managers to let them know that your time of employment at that company will be ending soon.
Hey, that's awesome, dude. 'Bout time you get out of there.

Thank you. :) Yes, you’re right. Especially since I heard the company got bought out by another one, which feels a bit ominous.
Now that you mention it, I’m going to follow my friend Max’s advice and look for a nice family owned place to work at, no more of this corporate stuff.

Come on! Let's bless them all until we get fershnickered!I've had good and bad experiences at both corporate and franchise (small business licensing a large brand's identity).
Corporate big box store giant was fine, but they did run me at 35-38.5 hours a week to keep me part time and brainwash us with anti-union videos. (If you believe I met the CEO, I've got a bridge to sell you.)
Franchise pizza place 1 was awful. Just the worst. (I met the owner but did not work with them.)
Small corporate novelty shop was a disappointment but mostly because they were completely failing to break into this area. (I do not believe I met anyone from Corporate)
Corporate auto parts chain was a wonderful place to work, by retail standards. (I interacted occasionally with the district manager and may have met the regional manager once)
Franchise pizza place 2 was a lot more humane than the first. (I met the owner but did not work with them.)
Franchise shipping store was owned by one of the better franchisees in the brand, though part of how well we were treated was because they owned so many stores they were just outside of qualifying for small business exemptions, though in retrospect I have to wonder if the reason the insurance options made the "does nothing plan + Health Savings Account" tier so much cheaper than the rest was so they could put more healthcare burden on us. (I interacted extensively with the owner even before I became a store manager.)
Corporate veterinary medicine network is doing pretty good by me in a low-level admin job. (I believe I've met the CEO, but only because the hospital director is in the next room.)
Fresh-eyed movie blogI decided to become a full-fledged contributor for Trope Report's trope changelog section starting with next month's issue, since the fact that I regularly moderate TRS means I can add changes to the list after I give the go-ahead to make them. I already made some minor fixes to that section for this month's issue (which should be going live soon; I think Macron usually handles that part). I don't intend to add myself to the contributor list for this month's issue since I wasn't intending to make the changes as an actual contributor, but that'll change starting with the December issue.

I got a rock for Halloween.Real Life has been throwing me one thing after another, everyone. I'm surprised I'm still able to type clearly but I guess I rarely lose that ability.
I've had ongoing problems with the water pipes, that I went into debt to have fixed.
My dad's health took a turn for the worse and although he's getting marginally better, he's too stubborn to get himself checked out at the doctor.
Despite it all I'm working as usual. I wanted to create but all this and an unexpected incident today led me to hold off on my latest Fan Fic WIP.
I feel like my younger self would've pushed through it and wrote no matter the circumstances.
I wonder if I just have to get used to creating under pressure.
"The three rules of the librarians of time and space: silence; books must be returned on time; no interfering with the nature of causality."Continuing from my previous post, I spent a good portion of this morning applying to new jobs, both family-owned ones and work from home computer ones. Wish me luck! :)
In addition, I did get quite a few people interested in buying my books... ;)
Come on! Let's bless them all until we get fershnickered!
Congrats, and keep plugging away. You're really making an effort and it'll pay off in time.
Updates: Well, it's Friday. I made it through another week. I've been a bit confused and emotional lately but I hope I can relax this weekend and alleviate at least some of my anxiety. This life is going to make me go gray by the time I turn 40, mark my words.
At least lunch time is soon. Food always puts me in a better mood.
"The three rules of the librarians of time and space: silence; books must be returned on time; no interfering with the nature of causality."You and me both. :)
Come on! Let's bless them all until we get fershnickered!I'm partial to sandwiches myself, because they're easy to make and are overall filling. I'll admit... maybe this is a guilty pleasure? But I've loved peanut butter and jelly ever since I was a kid. As an adult I like how cheap the ingredients are and how long it keeps in the pantry.
"The three rules of the librarians of time and space: silence; books must be returned on time; no interfering with the nature of causality."I took the first dose of Lorlatinib on October 19th, and my headaches have almost gone, I'm steadier on my feet and I feel like I'm thinking and speaking a little more clearly than I had been.
Unfortunately I still feel somehow diminished mentally, but that may be psychosomatic.
Now that my sister's not worried about me anymore she's started fighting with me over nonsense again. Maybe I should just let the tumors win.
My River City Girls plushies that I ordered from Limited Run arrived and man do I need to put up a shelf to throw my plushies on. I think I'm out of desk room.
Get taxed. Idiot.

Well, it seems rather than having my bonce braised, I've been switched to a new drug that supposed to have a dramatic effect on my brain tumors.
I don't know how much longer I have to live, but I think forty's a little young to start going senile from undergoing the ol' Cerebrum Sizzle. The Hindbrain Hibachi. (I've got a bunch of these) The Forebrain Fondue...
