In which we get updates from the lives of tropers. Kinda like Twitter with more than 140 characters, but less than a blog or LJ.
Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.

I have been really stressed lately trying to apply for Medicaid, since I'll be off my parents insurance come my birthday. I really hope I get it to pay for my super expensive medications.
Blog linkI'm so mad at me. It turns out that I do have TV when I thought I didn't for months. And I didn't record Korra so now I'm already behind...X(
...but then I can't even get any sound out of the TV, so that's no good anyway...well I'll work with it and try to get the sound back and just watch the episodes online.
But I feel like there's some kind of emotion for when you think something is true when it turns out it wasn't and it becomes even more saddening. XP

My Tivo box is mocking me. First it won't play video or sound. Then it plays just video but still no sound. Then it plays both video AND sound. Then I press the big I-have-no-use-for-it On Demand button in the middle of the remote and when I go back to live TV there is no sound again, even though I didn't touch any of the cords.
And through its silent treatment it keeps telling me "HDMI connection not permitted". Because of the cable? Because I tried two of them and it's still showing me that.
I'm thinking it's the box because I had fine TV until they switched me to Tivo Mini. >:(... I should have called and made them fix it months ago because they broke my Nickelodeon after they "fixed" it.

Been considering a career as a librarian. It seems like it would be a good fit for me. I'll need to put some serious thought into it (and prayer, because that's what Mormons do), but right now, it seems like a good path to go on.

I love finding something I love and combining it with something else I love. It makes the day seem not so bad.
Owl City and Lindsey Stirling? My favorite synthpop artist with my favorite violinist...ah, how could it get better...
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayGotta lotta librarians around here. We should form the Library of Tropes.
It occurred to me recently that I might like joining a monastery. Provided the theology was progressive enough, the lifestyle is "study the Bible a lot, help with monastery upkeep, pursue your interests and channel your talents", which sounds like a great alternative to getting a job and paying bills.
Then I remembered the celibacy. That's a door I'd rather not close, even if I'm not making use of it right now.
But then, take away the gender segregation, and I think all you have is a religiously-focused commune. Again, great alternative to real life.
Fresh-eyed movie blogI'll man the front desk!
Anyway, speaking of jobs I can't get, I'm trying yet again for Hastings in a very defiant way. They already haven't answered me three times—by now I don't care if they send me an email that says "STOP TRYING!" so long as they'd just contact me.
But, I do make my application better every time. There are still some things I can't compromise on, but if nothing else I still have principles.

You mean, like in The Librarian or The Librarians (2014) (the latter's a spinoff from the former, and it's got Christian Kane)?
Also, I started modding my Nerf Diatron. It's gonna have eight LE Ds (I passed on lasers, as I needed three for ten bucks a pop, and that's kinda steep for me), and a custom paintjob based on Dead Space plasma cutter.

Just finished my first play-through of Bioshock Infinite.
An absolutely incredible game. Awesomely written and very smooth gameplay. Once I reached the final parts, I just had to rush to the end. Good lord. What an ending.

I hope you can take some time out of your day to watch this video showcasing one of the least funny YouTubers of all time. It's only eleven minutes.
For my "slice of life" final comic (which is part of my "final" for the class), I'm telling about a typical day of me playing Ingress.
I have to explain the game and illustrate how it works, which isn't THAT hard...
But I'm planning the last panel to be a borderless spread of the city with portals everywhere. That's going to be the hardest...
Also I hope that this stays "slice of life". My life is pretty dull and routine, but Ingress is interesting and I used to do it every day, so a general day should be the same as "a 'snapshot' of an experience I've had", right?
...I haven't really been able to play it what with work getting in my way, but I still have it...
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayApparently this summer I'm reading comics.
Back when the Scott Pilgrim movie came out, I thought I'd read the comic. So I requested the book "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" from the library, and was surprised to note it had a great big 2 on it. When I found out how many volumes it was, and that I didn't already have part one, I decided I'd get to it later. Turns out later is now. Or rather, a few months ago. I just read vol. 4 today. (First time I actually believed in Scott and Ramona as a couple)
Concurrently, I'm also getting around to the series of Star Trek comics in the reboot continuity leading up to Into Darkness.
Also I picked up the Humble Doctor Who Comics Bundle way back, and I should get back into that. I just got a comic reader app for the ipad to make reading digital comics more comfortable.
Fresh-eyed movie blogCrossposting because I don't know where most tropers go anymore...
Look at this!
I thought that there were less people on Tvtropes than there used to be.
- The big dip is as people go into finals (leaving to study) and summer (potentially leaving the place they have regular internet access)
- overall, the place is a lot less lawless than it used to be, and we've jettisoned a lot of undesirables
- the whole internet knows about TV Tropes addiction now, and has largely either gone cold turkey or built up tolerance.
Half-relatedly, Facebook had an enormous dip, even for Facebook
.
But that's just trafficestimate. Alexa's
more in-depth
.
...it just floats after September 2013. How often do they do those estimates...

are looking to take a peek at some cheap Bruceploitation with "Bruce Le" (one E) in Bruce's Fist of Vengeance—the story two rival martial arts instructors fighting over a book of "secret" Jeet Kune Do techniques that was written by Bruce Lee (two E's).
Fun stuff and a funky soundtrack to boot!
But first, swing by the chat now for an even bigger dose of martial arts action, bad dubbing, and endless appreciation of Godfrey Ho's work.
