In which we get updates from the lives of tropers. Kinda like Twitter with more than 140 characters, but less than a blog or LJ.
Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.

Here's what happened after all their dreams came true...
Well, things are not looking up for my SSI (Social Security Supplemental Income) claim. Meaning I need to apply for Medicaid starting tomorrow so I can be accepted before my parent's insurance runs out and my meds go through the roof. It's been a very humbling day for me.
Blog linkBest wishes, TO.
So it turns out that a volunteer application is a lot easier to fill out than an employment application. I can choose what I'd like to do and when I can help...but, the lack of money is a deterrent...
>_> Now I start wondering about my priorities.
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stay![]()

Actually, no. They've been firing a lot of the better agents for the past month or so. Somehow after-call survey feedback became a weighted stat, and when that happened, the reps who'd had low handle times and/or high first-call success rates were screwed over by one or two people who just rated them low for reasons we still can't figure out. Oddly enough, I was part of the top 10% for survey feedback results. I'd laugh if I wasn't throwing resumes around like shuriken at the moment. It was more 'they're firing you?! what the hell?!' than anything.
And it's not just agents getting chased out of the building, either. Before they fired me, they'd termed two supervisors for reasons I still haven't been able to figure out. And both of their teams were either one of the top five or a couple of points away from that.
"...glad I keep a bottle of aspirin near the keyboard."That's really more of a 'project' than an 'adventure'. An 'endeavour' at most.
Unless, of course, you're trying to make money by selling priceless antiquities you've recovered from booby-trapped tombs?

'All he needs is for somebody to throw handgrenades at him for the rest of his life...'So I started listening to African metal after reading an article about metalheads from Botswana on Cracked. As widgety as they are, I gotta admit that some of that stuff is really good.
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisAt the top of the coming hour, as indicated by the timestamp on this post, The Synchtube Troper Coven
will be checking out the codifier of the "creepy telephone call coming from inside the house" trope, When a Stranger Calls (1979).
Come for the classic introduction, stay for the pile of crap it turns into after the first twenty minutes.
But, first, swing by the chat now for more needless Pac Man and Rambo cartoons from the 1980's, continuing coverage from the World Pup, and some other stupid stuff.

^Yay for happiness.
Self is back from delivering that volunteer application to the library halfway across town during lunch time. I can't remember driving so slow.
This is a rather disappointing situation. They wouldn't hire me so I had to practically beg them to let me work there for free. All while I'm still at that other job I hate.
So I'll have to drive more and work more for the exact same pay, in the hope that they'll eventually want to pay me to shelf the books and I can quit that other place...

got another mishmashed East Asian animation, botched dubbing, and assorted science-fiction strangeness to appreciate from the unparalleled Joseph Lai, Defenders of Space.

In the backyard, buried deep underneath the tree There's a monster, takin' root in the property...Made another thread for another app game.
I never know how popular these will be, but I always like to spread the word of things I like. ;p

I'm not saying it wrong, am I?
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...

At the top of the coming hour, as indicated by the timestamp on this post, The Synchtube Troper Coven
will be checking out the made-for-TV thriller Mayday at 40,000 Feet! (yes, the title includes the exclamation point) with veteran TV actors of the 60's and 70's David Janssen, Ray Milland, and Lynda Day George... and MARJOE GORTNER.
The closest approximation to a trailer is just a short clip of stock footage of a plane in takeoff from the movie plus a spot of Japanese dubbing, so I'll leave IM Db's plot synopsis here to give a better idea of what we got to look forward to.
But, first, swing by for a more needless Pac Man and Dungeons & Dragons cartoons from the 1980's, Everything is Terrible finally getting their hands on A Talking Cat!?!, an impromptu, greatly deserved tribute to Luis Suarez, and some other stupid stuff.
