In which we get updates from the lives of tropers. Kinda like Twitter with more than 140 characters, but less than a blog or LJ.
Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.

@Idler: I'm not sure yet...Business Law seems to have most of the money, but Criminal Law sounds so exciting...
@Keybreak: Over here, a person with a Law degree can get jobs anywhere. Every business and every state institution need a legal advisor at some point, and they are always in high demand. And if you play your cards well, it can be very well paid.
@Hopeless: Not here in Norway, sorry. Law studies are separated from Humanities and make up their own faculty.
@Quarterman: Awesome idea. *makes a note*

International Law also sounds really cool...to work for the UN or a large international corporation...but it also sounds really complicated. Family Law could also be interesting, I guess, but it kinda pales in comparison to the cooler topics.
@Keybreak: Sorry, I'm a material man. That is not to say I'm willing to do anything for money, but I very much desire a stable and well-paid job in the future. And being a lawyer is a meaningful and honourable profession as well. What more can one wish for?
Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia!Oh, so you did. And yep, you're right about those two. Speaking of defence, I've pondered becoming a criminal defence lawyer myself. There's so much interesting stuff you get to argue about.
Although it might turn out that I just can't handle the pressure of trial practice, since it's a lot of responsibility.
I really want a baguette right now.
You're an ad hominem attack!@Idler: Almost speaking of which, mock trials are the most awesome thing I've ever participated in. We had a slightly serious mock trial in the preparatory course, and it was really fun to go through the procedure and banter with the Defence. I don't think I want to be a Judge though; they get a lot of the boring work (writing the case files afterwards) with hardly any of the fun parts (the actual discussion and presenting the case).
@Keybreak: Yeah, lawyers have got a bad reputation in many countries because of being two-faced smart-ass know-it-alls who get paid too much money just to speak in difficult terms on the behalf of someone who is probably lying anyway. And yay, one more confused.

Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia! The same could be said of most professions, really. People make evil lawyer jokes all the time, but I think that overall, they're about on par with other professions in popularity.
I doubt the CG English dubbers could have found a better voice for Emperor Charles.
