So how much does Speed Racer fit into this?
Saw the Rocky And Bullwinkle movie. It's perfectly fine and hilarious if you take it as a cartoon that only happens to be made in live-action. But it reeks of being a pet project of Robert De Niro, who produced and starred in it, so it's nothing much else than that- I don't think it would have been made if it weren't for his amount of power. The characters are basically unknown today. If you seen the original shorts, it is spot on in tone and humor.
The thing with the Rocky And Bullwinkle movie is it shows perfectly how the same joke that works perfectly in a very brief format feels like a slow, awful torture when stretched into a much longer motion picture. And yes, I know the original plots often went on and on, but the format of very brief installements, instead of everything in a single sitting, made them work then.
Respect the Red Right Hand
I'm going old school Someone has already mentioned Masters Of The Universe and I'm throwing in the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie in as well.
Speed Racer was pure cheese... which was quite appropriate considering the source material.
I honestly don't see why everyone hates Speed Racer! It was practically a cartoon, and I get so into it watching it! I saw it in an IMAX theater with my co-workers in a room filled to the brim with a great audience- it's almost like it never flopped!
Yeah, I'd say Speed Racer was spot on. It captures the feel of the animated series perfectly.I found it effective and inventive in spots (though I thought Spridle was annoying as hell, but then, he always was). Seeing Matthew Fox as Racer X made me think he'd make an effective Batman, if one were to do a film adaptation of the Englehart/Rogers era Batman.
The Wachowski brother (and the Wachowski SISTER) wanted to make a sequel but of course the budget coming in wasn't enough. There's one thing the crew got out of it: the actor for Spritle is continuing to get work, such as a regular part on Wizards Of Waverly Place, and other shows!

The Death Note movies are actually good. Ryuk is awesome. I wished they ended the way the manga/anime did and Near was actually like Near in the anime/manga. The Americans are going to completely screw it up.
I don't think Battle Angel Aelita was ever animated, but I have faith in James Cameron to make it fun to watch.

Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love. One more support for Rocky and Bullwinkle and Looney Tunes: Back in Action.
I grew up watching Rocky and Bullwinkle (thank you reruns) and seeing the movie be just like the show was really awesome for me. But did you know there was a Rocky and Bullwinkle movie before that? It was called Boris and Natasha: The Movie ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boris_and_Natasha:_The_Movie
). I remember seeing it and enjoying it.
I also really liked The Flintstones and Looney Tunes Back In Action. I felt that the casting for the former was spot-on. I mean, to me, John Goodman IS Fred. Hell, even Rosie O'Donnell did good as Betty. And the latter felt much more like Looney Tunes than Space Jam or even The Looney Tunes Show, despite being a Human-Focused Adaptation.
Looney Tunes BIA never really felt like a Live Action Adaptation, as opposed to simply being a Roger Rabbit Effect film. Unless they actually had fully rendered CGI Bugs and Daffy, like the Yogi Bear film, the 2D cel-shaded animation is what saved the film for me.
You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction. The closest movie in this mold that is critically acclaimed...may not even count.

I'd say Transformers, but that was a comic before it was a cartoon(and toys before that), so I'm not sure how much it counts.
I'd say Alice In Wonderland, Jungle Book but they were originally books.
100 And 1 Dalmatians? Alvin and The Chipmunks?
