Devil's Never Cry is my personal favorite. I'll Be Your Home (the anime's ending theme) is also pretty peaceful, and I agree with Future In My Hands and the anime opening being pretty kickass. Other favorites include, The Time Has Come, Shall Never Surrender (Bentley Jones version), all of Vergil's battle theme's (Ultra Violet included), both versions of Taste The Blood and Divine Hate, and both versions of Suffer (The Cerberus version moreso).
Okay, I have no real knowledge regarding Bayonetta but I found this humorous (especially the last bit with Virgil).
I've heard (mainly through the comments on that video) that Bayonetta is rather powerful (there was something about punching a weakened god into the sun) but I still think Dante would win in a fight simply because I'm not sure if it's possible to kill him while Bayonetta, while awesome, is still only a human.
She is just a human, right? -goes to look up info on the game-
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! She's actually a very powerful Umbra Witch, although I don't think she possesses Dante's superhuman endurance or healing factor. I don't buy the whole "Bayonetta could curbstomp Dante" thing that Kamiya says, but I think it could go either way. At the very least, those two would probably be at it for a couple of days. (And no, not like that; that would be after the fight.)
"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarAfter reading up on the game, I'd have to say it depends on which version of Dante she fights.
Early DMC3: If she could figure out how to kill him, she would more than likely win.
Mid DMC3: She'd probably have the upper hand until Dante Devil Triggered. Then the fight would probably be even.
Late DMC3: Bayonetta would probably still have the upper hand against human Dante but that would probably change after he DT'd.
DMC1: Against human Dante, the fight would probably be evenly matched. If Dante DT'd, the fight would be over.
DMC:TAS: Same but more.
DMC4: Dante would probably have the upper hand regardless.
DMC2: The question is less "Who would win" and more "Does Dante need/want to be somewhere else". If no, Dante might toy with her for a while for fun. If yes, there was fight? If he used either one of his D Ts, it would be a blink-and-you-miss-it "fight".
Bayonetta killed a god. Lovely. Sparda was a Physical God and Dante surpassed him probably around the end of DMC1. By DMC2, he's vastly more powerful than Sparda.
I suppose the better question is "How long before both of them are in the same bed assuming they bother to find one?"
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!As much as I like Dante, you're overestimating his power. Dante and Bayonetta have similar weapons and abilities for the most part. And that god Bayonetta punched out? That was the creator of her universe. That's probably above Mundus and Argosax's level by a tier or two, and she did so without some sort of Devil Trigger-like mechanic. And that's not even getting into the game itself. Bayonetta was envisioned to be a step-up from DMC, so she fights beings a few steps up from the demons Dante faces in terms of power and status. It's waaaaaaaaaay more even than you think. If we're talking about anything after the first game, Devil Trigger would most likely give Dante an edge, but then you have to factor in stuff like Witch Time and Bayonetta's summoning abilities, which negate the advantage again. Devil Trigger Majin Form, on the other hand, probably would end the fight in Dante's favor, but Bayonetta certainly wouldn't make it easy for him.
"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarBut didn't Dante defeat Argosax without the need for his Devil Trigger? Also, Mundus created Trish and the dialog before the fight against him says that he could easily make a large number of copies. Creating life in that manner implies power similar to "creator of the universe" tier.
I'll give you DMC3 Dante and probably DMC1 Dante but 4 and 2 still stand.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Yeah, but remember, it was during a cutscene. In-game, The Despair Embodied will serve you your ass on a silver platter if you're not careful. But, again, this evens out because Majin Form is pretty much the ultimate hax made playable.
Mundus definitely shows traces of being a Reality Warper, but there's a difference between creating an artificial demon in the image of your defected general's wife and creating an entire universe that consists of at least three separate planes of existence, each harboring their own distinct creature. Trish is more or less the demonic equivalent of an homunculus. That kind of creation seems easy to make through dark magic/demonic alchemy in the DMC verse, given that Arius created Lucia and several others like her in 2 and Arius is nowhere near Mundus and Argosax in terms of power.

"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarDante wins by virtue of being the better-looking one.
What? You know it to be true.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - Fighteer
I am a heterosexual male and I agree with that simply because there is such a thing as "too much" for me and Bayonetta pole vaults over that line.

Gameplay and Story Segregation. If it's not shown in a cutscene or a scripted event then it doesn't really count in this instance. Surely Dante never has to use his Devil Trigger on the mooks even if you do at times. I could give you Mundus but it's kind of hard to tell since I don't think we see him do much other than fight Dante.
When it comes down to personal preference, I much prefer Dante since things dripping with sexual references just don't really do it for me. I honestly don't think I'll ever play Bayonetta.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! How do we know that for sure? Heck, Nero wailing on Dante in 4 caused him to sort-of-but-not-quite DT and Dante was visibly panting after his second battle with Nero. That's not something you can easily rule out even if it's clear that he probably wouldn't need to in most cases, considering that he could go toe-to-toe with The Savior while playfully toying with it as he waited for Nero to disable it from the inside.
It's fine if you have a bias against Bayonetta, but you still can't let that get in the way of facts.
"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarAlright. I'll concede to your argument then. I was fighting a losing battle from the beginning anyway seeing as how I've only played the third game.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! So, I just watched the motion capture video for DMC3.
Oh my gosh, that must have been so much fun to do. It was awesome.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!As much as I like Devil May Cry, I will Say this:
Bayonetta is better than all the DMC games.
On Bayonetta vs. Dante: I think it's obvious that bayonetta is stronger than dante. She Does have super human endurance, and can survive getting spiked by those spikesyou have to dodge with the panther form in game, being able to survive having skyscrapers flung into her face if you don't QTE it fast enough, and can breath in actual outer space and fall to earth relatively unharmed.
Asura is still stronger than both, but that's another story altogther.
I do plan on getting the HD collection. I bet somehow it will Sell the 5 million copies that capcom is expecting from Dm C. It would be such an irony.

Watch SymphogearIf the DMC collection sells 5 million while Dm C flops, I'm going to laugh my ass off. Tameem has acted so arrogant, it would be very satisfying to have the smug look on his face wiped off.

A bomb's a bad choice for close range combat.Well I just encountered a strange glitch.
I was fighting Doppelganger during the boss rush and was using Super Sparda and Quicksilver. When I beat the boss, for some odd reason, the camera lost focus of Dante and instead decided to stare at some random reflector. At first, I thought I had glitched through the wall but, after some running around, I found I hadn't.
Also, playing through Heaven or Hell mode is kind of funny even if Hell Wraths are now evil.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I would have to agree. Even DMC 2, which I really don't like, had a nice soundtrack.
A bomb's a bad choice for close range combat. If they rerelease DMC 1 I really hope they will correct this Damn You, Muscle Memory! issue or at least let us reconfigurate at will. For some reason, having the jump on triangle really put me out of the game when I tried to play it (after being used to DMC 3 and 4).
As for the soundtrack, I never found it particularly memorable, save one or two like Nero's theme or the final Vergil battle. DMC 1 does stand out in that aspect though.

Bayonetta would beat Dante if the two were to fight. But I honestly think if they met they'd just sleep with each other.
Favorite song is Devils Never Cry, Vergil's final battle, Time Has Come and Never Surrender I guess. In all honesty I'm not too keen on most of DMC's music, just not my preferred taste. It works wonderfully for the series though.
Didn't know Never Surrender had a Bentley Jones version...
I also like The Time Has Come and Never Surrender.
The former in particular since it's pretty much one long To the Pain speech in music form delivered by Nero (since it is his battle theme, after all).

(the OP for The Animated Series) is pretty awesome. They should really use it in the series proper. Same goes for the ED, "I'll be your home" by Rin Oikawa.
As for the series itself, my faves (in no particular order) reads as follows:
Overall, the series has a very stellar musical direction.
