I don't think they'll have more chemistry (and romantic chemistry and platonic chemistry are rather different anyway) but I'm sure that won't stop a ton of people from shipping them.
It doesn't help that Itsuno apparently included Nico because he has a thing for women like her, according to her Wiki page.
Here's the page
One of Itsuno's inspiration in creating Nico was also his weird fetish for being scolded by "bad girls".
That right there shows the issue with the writing around Kyrie - the writers donít see her as a person, only a thing.
I don't know, the fact that they didn't shoehorn her in this games plot because it'd be out of character for her shows they do actually respect her as a character to some extent.
Hence why I said "to some extent".

Except she barely had much of a character beyond being a Damsel in Distress. Which is even more jarring considering every other female character in this series.
This game was an opportunity to add some more depth to her. Come to think of it, how often does she actually show up in the trailers?
At least we know she isn't fridged or anything, given that Nero probably wouldn't be nearly as chipper in various trailer scenes if that were the case.
Although that "most important thing to Nero" line briefly made me think of them pulling an Injustice: Gods Among Us with her.
Dante will explain his stoic Vergil-like behavior in 2 as him trying out a new gimmick in hope for clients to take him seriously and thus hopefully more profit, but it didn't work out so he dropped the persona.

I'm of the theory that Dante was super stoic and serious in 2 out of a combination of boredom, and being dangerously close to poverty that he took a job on the furthest reaches of the world simply because it was the most lucrative one at the time. His coin-tossing gimmick was actually a coping mechanism to distract him from impending homelessness and going to hell was an extra measure to ensure that he would get extra reward money to keep a roof over his head.
Lack of income is Dante's true greatest foe.
Apparently the Novel prelude to 2 'yes DMC has novels'
Basically Another Trish shows up but this Trish is 100% loyal to Mundus and despite all of Dante's efforts She forces him to Kill her in self defense.
So Dante is rather dour about that.
Frankly... I kinda like the notion of Dante in 2 being much older and is so apathetic to the demons cause he's basically top of the food chain and is only on the Island cause its the chance to face one last foe that his Father Fought.
I'm gonna be blunt, Kyrie does not need to be turned into an Action Girl
That said You could easily have her be a mission control like figure and still keep Nico
Kyrie is suppose to be alot more devout and the Order was collecting alot of Demonic lore
Her being your Demon encyclopedia wouldn't be that much of a stretch.

Nobody is saying she has to be an Action Girl. She just needs to be in the game and get some Character Development.
Kyrie doesn't need to wall jump and swing around a warhammer to improve as a character (Although it wouldn't hurt) but right now she almost literally doesn't have a personality.
She does not react like a normal human person reacts to things. Her brother turned into a demon and died in DMC 4 remember? Apparently her reaction to that wasn't considered important.
Compare that to how they introduce, say, Dante and Trish in one of the best character establishments in video game history back in the first DMC.
Shifting gears a bit, it seems that Matt Walker confirmed on Twitter that the game will run at 4K@60fps on Playstation 4 Pro.
The lack of characterization is especially jarring considering every other female character in the series gets some.

I recall reading this DMC/Bayonetta fanfic where Kyrieís singing was part of some kind of ritual that held up a protective barrier around Fortuna.
Iíd have liked to see an idea like that integrated into the game. Like Kyrie records her singing into tapes that Nico remodels into bombs. When they detonate, the magic of Kyrieís voice recording destroys demons.
I mean, they have a radio. Kyrie could just broadcast her singing or something.
Apparently, Istuno wanted to make a sequel to the Ninja Theory game.
That's boring. Throw some handwavium around ("We need to capture the SOUL of the song!") and give me my Kyrie record bombs that would be hilarious.
BATTEN DOWN THE HATCHES.
Kyrie's mixtape is straight holy fire
Devil Arm Radio that can shoot it out as a soundwave, or concentrate it as a sound bomb. Call it Siren.
Or a an ipod that boosts Nero's stats depending on the song he listens to.
The ultimate song is, of course, Devil Trigger.
Now I'm having the silly headcanon that Devil Trigger is in fact an in-universe single by Kyrie after her musical style went through a major Genre Shift.
I wouldn't be against the idea of them continuing that series after DMC 5.
I dig it. Her wanting to distance herself from the organization that got her brother killed as much as possible wouldn't be unreasonable.
shiiit arrows are messed up

Something tells me it might not have been a huge hit given the whole climate of "Oh my god, oh my god, demons from hell are invading the Earth. Oh my god!".
I feel bad for the poor bastards who worked for that organization but didn't know about Sanctus' schemes. You know they have a nightmare of a time explaining the reasons for why they left their previous job.
I'm pretty sure they left that out of their resumes.
Ya know it is nice that Kyrie regularly pulls Nero's Devil Trigger.
Its good that they have a healthy relationship.
