I'm a big fan of hers. First heard the song Marry Me last March when someone posted a link to a youtbue vid with it on some other forum, and was hooked instantly. Hell, Opheliac is in my list of Most Favorite Albums alongside such favorites as With Oden on Our Side(arguably my favorite album), Number of the Beast, Peace Sells...But Who's Buying and Paranoid.

Gonna go to a concert of hers in Oct, for which I'm totally excited for.

I was first introduced to her about a year ago, and quickly became a fan. I enjoy Enchant, but I'm a HUGE fan of Opheliac. My favorite songs are probably "Shalott," "Gothic Lolita," and "Dead Is The New Alive." Hard to choose, though; I love the entire album.

I think the unique blend of genres, the clever, dark, and sometimes humorous lyrics, and the fact that she is willing to put some VERY personal feelings into her music (which I know from experience as a writer is very hard to do, but gives the work real emotional resonance when done right) are the main things I love about her work.

I was introduced to Emilie by this very site. Opheliac is also my favorite album from her. It's such a unique blend of classical & electronic. My favorite songs from that album would be "Opheliac", "Swallow", "I Want My Innocence Back", & "Gothic Lolita".

I like Opheliac a lot. I've heard a few of her other recordings, but I don't have a copy of them.

Ah weak, the Fall N. American tour got postponed. Ah well, her health is more important than one tour.

Still was totally stoked for that show but ah well. This does free up some funds though.

I love Emilie Autumn! She has a very unique style, and is a must-see live. You won't regret it. <3

I'd say my favourite EA album is the Unlaced side of Laced/Unlaced.

And I love the tracks A Strange Device and Liar. ^_^

Yeah Unlaced is awesome. I love listening to it while besieging planets in Sins of a Solar Empire.

Now I have to wait until Jan to see her live, though. Disappointing, but this frees up a funding issue I had.

I was actually going to listen to some of her songs, just to see if I like them, but it slipped my mind for some reason.

Anyone have any recommendations (for songs)?

Try "Gothic Lolita" or "Opheliac", I guess.

Depends on how weird your tastes in music usually run. "Opheliac" and "Gothic Lolita" are awesome, but I've seen them be off-putting to first-time listeners (especially "Opheliac"). Something like "Shalott" or "Juliet" may help ease the transition. But if you're adventurous, just dive right in!

Would this qualify as "weird" enough?

Anyway, I listened to "Gothic Lolita" and "Opheliac", and ([[Nightmare Fuel aside from the lyrics) they both sounded a little too pop-ish for my taste. Does she have anything a little... denser?

Sounds like any of the instrumental tracks from Unlaced might be more up your alley. You might try "Unlaced" or "Leech Jar."

I quite like her music, especially Opheliac.

"Thank God I'm Pretty" is one of my favourite songs. "Shallot" is also great.

Opheliac is one of those rare albums that gets filed under "Perfect". EA herself is pretty awesome too.

I've heard most of her stuff. I have to say, the talent is definately there (I'm quite partial to Shalott) but I can't help but feel her material could be better.

*exhumes thread, which in and of itself is strangely on-topic considering the artist being discussed*

So, how was the concert Mark?

Also, put me down as an EA fan now. After receiving a recommendation on this site last year and scouring local music stores (I don't do anything involving money online) until finally finding Opheliac at FYE early last month, I can honestly say it was actually worth the long wait to hear her.

The whole CD (actually, both of them since it was the Deluxe 2-disc Edition) is awesome, but my favorite songs are "Liar", "Misery Loves Company", "Swallow" and "I Want My Innocence Back".

Enemy: oh it was awesome. Show ended up being postponed until March, but it worked out as then I got to drink at the show.

She's touring again early next year, I'll be seeing her again on Feb 23rd of '12.
