As the large, cruise-liner like ship entered the harbor, the three Dorm Heads bowed their head to the tragedies that occurred on it last year. Then, before any of them could react, a relatively small, pink-haired object shot off the bow of the boat, seemed to ride the air itself down, and landed in front of Armstrong, the Obelisk Blue Dorm Head.
"Armstrong," Rai asked, "where's Cyrus?"
Armstrong said something to Rai and she sped off towards the main building on her skates.
"So that's the newest teacher?" Saturday asked. "And about their file...?"
"It's all true, sadly. He's almost had as bad a life as Cyrus."
Then the massive tide of students began to rush out of the boat.
"Um..." Barnaby began, "I'll leave crowd control to you two sirs."
"NO PROBLEM!" they said as they both entered ridiculous poses.
>.< okay, already screwy with Ki Rai's pronouns... the narration will refer to Rai as a she, but everyone else I control will probably call Ki Rai he most of the time.
Scott sighed, bored under the deck of the ship. It brought back memories, but... They weren't pleasant. They just brought him to the first day of school, when Cyrus sky-dived onto the deck of the ship. Blind Cyrus. It only reminded him of the man's current state of being- a wreck. Well, if I have anything to say about it, he'll be better in no time! He thought, determined. He wasn't going to let his best friend from last year be a total wreck forever.
The blue-haired Ra was so busy with his thoughts that he missed the boat docking until most of the students were already on their way onto the island. "Oh... I've gotta pay attention more often..." He said, getting up and grabbing his duffel bag. "Well... Here goes nothing..." He walked up to the deck of the ship, seeing that Professor Loatheless was gone and that Saturday and Armstrong were doing crowd control. "Oh, hey, Professor Saturday, Professor Armstrong," He said with a smile. He had been asleep most of the ride, and had not seen either since last year. Saturday was a familiar face, and he was glad for that.
Eddie looked through his deck, his prized possesion, and his shot at fame. He was lost in his own thoughs about being a slifer red,and wanting to make a name for himself. He'd thought about challenging an obelisk, but only if there was a crowd around to witness him win.
Realizing the boat was docking,he stuffed his deck in his duel disk, grabbed his one suit case, and headed towards the large crowd of people.
Cyrus's door flew open, letting sun in for the first time in what seemed like forever. It also sounded like a gunshot to Cyrus.
"Ah!" he yelled. "Whoizzit?"
"Cyrus!" Rai said. "You need to get up and move! Everyone's here- it's opening day, you genius!"
"Rai or Kira?"
"Can you quiet down, Rai-chan?"
"Cyrus! Seriously! Do you want the whole student body to see you like this?"
"Does Kira like his hot pink hair?"
"Then why don't you clean up?"
Cyrus stood up from his position on the floor, getting into the light. His skin was ghastly pale, his shirt was torn and undone, one of his pant legs was torn shorter than the other, he had no socks or shoes on, and even his glasses, the one thing he had taken any care of, were slightly askew- almost to the point of revealing what lay beneath them.
"I'm not going to appear before them. They don't need to see me; the opening speech can be given by any teacher."
"What about the rumors?"
"None of them can be as bad as the truth."
"Then what happens when what's-his-face, the guy River said was the best Duelist of this generation, comes in and smacks you eight ways to Sunday?"
"I'm not even sure if Scott can find my quarters. And if he can, he won't have a key. And if he does, why would I listen to him when I didn't listen to my own sister, Rai-chan?"
Rai looked away, then looked back at Cyrus.
"If you're so depressed, why did you take the Headmaster position?"
"Because without it, me, you, Barnaby and Angie... we'd all be screwed. Armstrong and Saturday'd probably be out on the streets for a while, too, but they have the skills to pick themselves back up. I'm too much of a wreck for the Pro Circuit. And Barnaby and Angie... Barnaby might be able to score a history teaching job somewhere, but he wouldn't leave Angie behind, and if anyone found out they were together... well, Barnaby wouldn't have a nice time of it, to say the least."
Ryoga looked up at the bright blue sky, his hair dangling in front of his eyes as he hummed a small tune to himself, pushing his glasses further up his eyes. How long had he been staring at the sky? It felt like ages. Of course, on a boat, everything felt like ages. He hadn't slept, he hadn't done anything, just...sat, and contemplated. What? I think you give Ryoga too much credit.
Finally, the boat was docking and he threw his hands up. "Finally,' he let out a low sigh. He stood up, cracking his back and looked up at the dock, the large group of kids, and the island he would be staying for a good while. He grinned. "Righteous."
Scott made his way to the Ra Yellow dorm with haste, throwing his bag into the room he had called his own for the latter part of the last year. Then he walked to the main building, making haste. Okay, Cyrus, you better be in there! He said, walking into the building and taking out his DPA, which he had kept. "There has to be a map on here somewhere..." He said aloud. Even if he was supposed to go to the opening ceremony or whatever, he was going to see Cyrus. Even if Cyrus didn't want to see him... He blindly made his way down a hall, giving up on the device in his hands.
His mind wondered to the previous year. The year had been cut short, sure, but over the course of the month or so, he really hit it off with Cyrus and River. River... His death impacted Scott more than he let on. He didn't want to let anyone go, not anyone. He had no clue where he was going, but he wasn't going to be denied.
Question: Am I going to have to play Blair again?
Answer: No, she won't really have an effect without River and Cyrus's stupid stunts.
"Cyrus..." Rai gave up. She reached up to her electronic eyepatch and flipped it to the other side, revealing a golden, cat-slit pupil eye. "I'll just have Kira talk to you."
"CYRUS! YOU ARE AN IDIOT!" Kira's yell echoed down the hall, to where Scott was. "PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER BEFORE I WAKE UP NEPTUNE!"
"... Well, that's convenient. Not like it usually is around here," Scott said, nodding and walking in the direction of the yelling. Whatever's going on, I'm about to step into it. Into the lion's den, I guess... He thought, heading up to the door. He managed to step into the door just enough that he could see a kid with hot pink hair, which probably isn't as odd as it seems, considering my own hair, and Cyrus, who was in a sorry state. "I gotta agree with the kid, but I can't really wake up a planet."
Just checking, 'cause I kinda doubt that Blair would just be silent about Cyrus' current condition... But if you say so.
She's had a year to try. And now that Ki Rai is back, all she can really hope for is that s/he will get him out of his depression.
"Scott." Cyrus said frankly.
"WHO IS THIS LITTLE IDIOT IMPEDING ON MY VERBAL ASSAULT ON YOU?" Kira yelled.
"Someone on your side, Mr. Yells a lot," Scott said, his smiling demeanor not fading, "Now, in what area are we calling Cyrus an idiot? They're various. Like his sense of safety. Or moderation. Or, apparently, his fashion sense."
"His fashion sense could use some help, even normally~♥" the pink-haired person said in a high-pitched, singsong voice.
The pink-haired person had reverted to a deeper, more threataning voice. "... Rai's gone back asleep. Now that I'm less angry, Cyrus, you are an idiot because you need to pull yourself together before I get Avatar to move his lazy ass to mess with you. And he does owe Rai-chan and I a favor, what with the accidental permanent mental scarring and all."
jumping off the boat,he decided that while everybody was gathered,he might as well try for a duel...
"Hello! Would anybody like to duel the best person on the island?" he shouted, cockily.
Giery turned to him, he had just finished dealing with some punkish student, and obliged the new one, readying his duel disk, "I would like to grant your request. Prepare for disaster."
Michael had slept through most of the boat trip; he’d spent the rest of the time flirting with some of the new female students, with...varying degrees of success. Unfortunately, his fun was cut short when the announcement came that they were docking.
He waited until much of the rush died down before gathering his duel disk and his suitcase and disembarking the ship. After all, he's the greatest duellist ever, why should he be in a hurry?
He looked around at the swarm of students before hearing a challenge; he turned towards the source of the sound. *Hm? Another Slifer, I think I’ll pass...*
Sean yawned. The boat trip was uneventful despite what he had heard of last year. There had been duels that broke out last year and some blind guy who skydived onto the boat. But no real theatrics this year.
Grabbing his stuff, he began to disembark when he heard some yelling kids. Intrigued, he followed the noise to see a Slifer and a Ra getting ready to duel. He wondered if the two had an ounce of talent between them.
Maybe I'll have fun later. I'll watch for now...
However, he spotted another Slifer. Maybe he'd get some place putting done first...
"Hey, kid," spoke Sean to Michael. "How would you like to start your career with a loss to an Obelisk? It can't be too embarassing since you're a rundown red, so what do you say?"

"Huh, an Obelisk Blue?" Michael looked at the newcomer, "Heh, this'll be great for my reputation, bring it on!" Michael readied his duel disk.
Eddie prepared to draw 5 cards, and began to talk smack. "Don't feel too bad when you lose to me; Evrybody does it." Most people would look down on him for being a slifer,he thought, but they certainly had another thing coming.
He heard another slifer dueling an obelisk not too far off,and envied him for getting the higher ranked opponent.

"I wonder where you will fall when you are at rock bottom..." mused Sean, as his duel disk swung into position. "Do you wish to try and stop me with your pathetic defenses or allow me to end you quickly?"
Who wants to GM our duel? Also, his question was his polite way of asking if you want to go first or not.
I don't know how to gm,but if someone explained it to me,I could do it
Scott shrugged. "The kid's right, Cyrus. I know it was hard for you- it was hard for me, too, and I didn't know him for nearly as long- but would River want to see you falling apart and being weak now that he's gone?" He nodded a sagelike nod. "Besides, you need to be strong for other reasons, too. And if you don't want to be strong, you should be glad that you aren't allowed to chose that option. Not while I'm here."
"I think I'll go first, I want this to end quickly." Michael said, smirking as he drew his opening hand.
yeah, can we get someone to GM our match?
Giery smirked, "Heh, you seem confident, its a pity I will have to knock you down to size. You might be a problem student..."
"Choice," Said Ryoga as he looked about and began to see the Duels starting. A grin crossed his lips as he backed up a little. "Show in the first half hour. I'm gonna like it here."
I can GM your duel if you want, Nick.
Sean smirked as he drew his first five cards. "Well, its been a while since I've kicked around a poor person. I can't even remember the last time I did that in a duel."
