JAFAAC: Innocent Aliens

Can we at least find a picture from the teaser trailer with the "We just want to go home" subtitle at the bottom?

Even the current caption has problems; given the context of the film it comes from and the aliens' history with humans, I don't think they'd want to be friends nor did the Prawns' spaceship explicitly come here for diplomatic purposes.

Wow. Bad picture. They could have at least shown something other than an extreme face close-up of the District9 aliens.

Is there any work anyone can think of that shows an alien working some menial day job on Earth? That would get the idea across.

Well, here's the supremely blurry "We mean you no harm" picture: [1] Here's "We just want to go home: [2]

Various others: [3], [4]

As much as I like the "We mean you no harm", one, it does rely a little too much on the subtitle.

The District 9 aliens don't pull off "Innocent" for me.

Osmium's first pic seems like a winner. ET is far more recognizeable than the aliens from District 9, and nothing says innocent like giving a little girl flowers.

ALF was never really innocent... He was just mischievous as opposed to openly malicious. E.T. would work well though.

Then we have two different definitions in the same trope:

This

They're not looking for any trouble, and all they want is to be left alone, make a friend, or just get by in our strange and unfamiliar Earth culture.
in the opening paragraph.

Then in the next paragraph, the much narrower definition that they

are total babes in the woods, displaying a very warped understanding of the humans' way of life. They're wide-eyed and childlike, and occasionally even need protection from hostile human beings,

Sigh. Why is it that image picking is always the place where these things are brought to light? Stupid contradictory trope definitions. I think this is supposed to be the trope for "Family takes in alien and protects it from the big bad government / alien bounty hunters."

[up] I bet they get brought up here cuz Image Pickers think of images before they read the trope description and end up inadvertently playing Guess That Trope with nonindicative names.

That, and when we're looking for a picture that illustrates the trope, first we have to agree on what it's supposed to be illustrating. Making a TRS page for it...
