No more O T3s from me tonight, sorry. I'll try to make up for it tomorrow, but I was kinda busy today.

To try and compensate, here's another old depressing thing I once wrote for that other board Jack Mackerel mentioned. Basically, and since now I remember I didn't answer to it when I was asked before, sorry, I once posted a thread where I challenged people to throw Crack Pairings at me and I'd write (all publics) mini fanfics based on them. I'm ashamed and proud at once I managed to actually write things like Sub-Zero and Deadpool and... Optimus Prime and Garfield. No, really.

Anyway, here's what I did on a Mana-Setsuna dare:

"So, what will you do now?".

The question startled Setsuna, both because of its bluntness and because she hadn't noticed anyone sneaking behind her. Instinctively, the swordswoman pulled her blade out while spinning around to face...

"Oh. It's you".

"This whole affair has affected you worse than I thought, Sakurazaki" Mana Tatsumiya commented, vaguely amused. "You are losing focus. Just let her go".

Sheathing her sword out, Setsuna grumbled. "What are you talking about?".

"God, you are horrible at lying".

Setsuna's eyes narrowed angrily. "Go look for a fight elsewhere".

Mana ignored the remark, sitting next to her. From where they were, the chapel was clearly visible below, the guests leaving while congratulating the newlyweds. "I'm not looking for a fight. There's nothing to gain from that. Just wanted to give you some advice. Free, even. If you didn't want to fight for it then, then you shouldn't despair about it now".

Setsuna averted her gaze. "Ojou-sama's decisions aren't for me to question. Neither she nor Negi-sensei have ever meant to hurt me".

"I know" Mana nodded distantly.

"Then why do you try to tease me with that?".

"Because you heart still hasn't accepted what your brain has" the miko said calmly. "Even Miyazaki's heart has learned to accept it. But yours hasn't".

"My heart's whims don't matter".

Mana looked at her, smiling. "They do when they interfere with your concentration". Without a warning, she poked Setsuna with a finger on the forehead. "An opening! Normally, you'd have blocked that without even noticing. You are slipping down. How do you expect to protect your mistress and her husband like that?".

"I—I—".

Setsuna looked down and away, biting her lower lip.

"You should cry" Mana suggested, dryly. "That's always the first step. Get rid of the baggage".

"I promised myself I wouldn't cry. Tears are for the weak. Tears are—".

She was cut by slender arms hugging her from behind, pressing her against Mana's tall, warm body. "Stupid girl. You already are weak where it matters the most. Cry until you don't have any more tears, and only then you'll be strong".

Setsuna hid her face in the taller woman's chest. "Please... don't tell anyone about this...".

"I won't" Mana promised. "This one is for free, as well".

The days, weeks, months and years passed quickly after that. Most of the class already had moved away after the graduation, but the wedding was the actual drifting away point. Kotaro and Natsumi would marry as well shortly afterwards, and went to make a life for themselves. Asuna and Takahata went back to the Magical World. Yuuna left after her father died. Ayaka had a financial empire to helm. Ako became a successful doctor, and Akira made herself worldwide famous at the Olympics. Even Sayo passed on to a higher plane of existence.

Only the seven of them remained at Mahora. Hakase became the undisputed leader of the research institute, while Negi continued teaching with Konoka at his side. Evangeline and Chachamaru continued living at the woods, with Eva every once in a while making token feigned angry protests at Negi for being unable to break the Thousand Master's curse. Mana and Setsuna would smile and nod knowingly to each other at that.

The miko had become Mahora's Security Chief, while the swordsmaster stayed at her friend's side, protecting her family as it grew, child after child. And through it all, she never had cried again. Not because of any promise, but because she didn't need it anymore.

Mana had healed her heart, in her own strange, tough way, much better than Konoka ever could heal her physical wounds.

Until that gray day of autumn. Mana would go with the last leaves of the year.

Konoka's best attempts at healing magic hadn't worked. Ako reaching to the best contacts she could get, and Ayaka's money could pay, hadn't worked either. The illness had grown to the point where it was painfully clear none of them could do anything but to say farewell.

Ako had said she wouldn't get another day, and so all the long gone friends came back one for one. The librarians, Chisame, Kaede and Ku Fei. The twins, the cheerleaders, and even Takane and Mei. All of them gray and old now, all but Evangeline and Chachamaru, who hadn't grown a single day older from when Setsuna had first met them. All of them next to her, next to Mana's bed.

Tatsumiya finally opened her blurry eyes again, slowly. "So..." she wheezed. "I see this is the end. I didn't want you to see me like this...".

"Mana-chan, you aren't—".

Mana placed a finger over Setsuna's lips. Thanks to her youkai heritage, the winged woman had aged better than most of them, looking nearly two decades younger than Mana. And yet, she seemed to have grown five years older in the last few days.

"No, I know I am. Otherwise, you wouldn't be all here...". She made her best to look around, blinking at a nearly morbidly obese woman in a habit. "Kasuga...? Kasuga, is that really you?".

Misora nodded, holding her own tears back.

"My God, you look like a whale..." Mana laughed a bit before choking in coughing, "I'd bet you don't make a lot of running nowadays... Inugami, you're looking good, too...".

Kotaro nodded his brief thanks. Like Setsuna, he seemed quite younger than all of them but Eva and Chacha, Natsumi looking painfully frail and small next to his frame. The freckled old woman looked all around cluelessly, barely recognizing her husband and Chizuru, and no one else.

"I am glad... you all are here, though..." Mana smiled weakly as she felt Setsuna squeezing her hand a bit tighter. "I'll give Sayo-chan your regards. Tell her you're all well...".

"Mana—!!" Setsuna hunched herself over her.

"Please, cry if you want... Remember what I told you that time, Setsuna? Well, I was half wrong... You didn't need to run out of tears. They never... made you weak at all...".

Slowly, she closed her eyes back with a vague, lingering smile. At the other side of a tearful Setsuna, Ako checked on her one last time, then shook her head to Negi and Konoka.

"Mana—-!!".

They all let her cry for what must have been hours, not saying a single word. Until Konoka put a small, wrinkled hand on her best friend's shoulder, gently rocking her back and forth.

"Setchan... she's gone...".

Setsuna had not cried in decades.

Has anyone here played the Negima video games? I heard the GBA/DS ones are RPGs, the PS 2 games are semi-interactive visual novels, and the Wii game is a 3D fighter probably along the lines of Virtual On or something...

Which reminds me, if I ever get a 360 and VOOT I should make an Asuna Fei-Yen with the color editor...

And all his suitors (except Kuno, since he's too stupidly dense) will start to feel guilt at how they treat Ranma, now that they see the negative aspects of their own "methodologies" reflected to some extent in certain Negima characters.

Crack cross-overs:

Negima x Doom, in which Nodoka adopts a Cacodemon because she thinks it's "cute".

Negima x Gundam Seed, in which improved human Negi pilots the Thousand Mecha against one Kira, and both have to defeat the Chao Gundam at one point.

Negima x Gundam Seed Destiny, in which improved demon Negi pilots the Millions Mecha against one Kira, and both have to defeat the Fateal Gundam at one point.

Negima x Virtual On, in which The Mario Negi Temjinfield teaches a whole class of cute Fei-Yen schoolgirls in all shapes and colors, who then are all sucked into a battle against the evil RNA Fate Corp., who is assisted by such likes as Angelan the magic girl, Specineff and his Key of the Lifemaker, and the Three Sisters of the Rose, and hold the original Asuna Fei-Yen prisoner. Side-characters include cute Loli Vamp Guarayakha (who has a secret ultra-powerful alternate form) and VOX Rakan.

I see the Ranma characters realizing what they do is actually kinda wrong... then keeping doing it anyway. Those leopards won't change their spots.

Aizen, or Rakan.

Fixed it for you. ;)

I'm musing over the Katawa Shoujo fandom crossover. Hanako would ship Negi/Nodoka SO HARD. And given her yuri tendencies, possibly throw Yue in there as well.

If Manga fox survives this (Witch if onemanga got taken down it probably won't) Then I will probably be forced to read it there.

Congratulations! you got me to post. I lurk all the time so this is rare.

If Mangafox does go down, there's still about half a dozen lesser-known sites with Negima on. Every time you shut a scanlation site down three more pop up in it's place. It's like whack-a-mole.

Negimax Bleach, to see who their broken character is more broken.

Aizen, or Rakan.

No one but Hao is more broken than Aizen. No one!

On the manga scans topic, I'm glad I'm getting the writing practice. Because at this rate, I'm going to probably have to write my own ending after all.

I think I might have the third-to-last batch ready for tonight. It should include Fuuka, Shichimi and Theodora. But I won't make concrete promises since I'm having a Hell of a day at the job today.

In the meanwhile, here's another old thing (but not that old as the other one, since I wrote it after Shiori was introduced) I once wrote for that other message board. It was on a dare to make a Negi-Full 3A Tenchi Solution. I'm not too proud of it, but what the heck.

The boy took a deep breath before starting walking towards the Gate. He wouldn't look back, he decided. If he looked back, then he never would leave... and he already had made his mind up on that. He was fifteen now... he knew better! He had to sort himself out before thinking about his ties to anyone else.

It still ached madly, but there was no other actual choice.

"WAIT!!".

He cringed as he stopped, startled by the combined, nearly perfectly synchronized, yelling coming from behind him. Reluctantly, he slowly tilted his head back, and saw... all of them, just arriving, obviously in a rush, most of them even panting, even Kaede and Ku Fei. It had to be a real race to get here, Negi thought, impressed.

"What... What are you doing here? How did you—" the boy doubted, unsure of what to do next. "The letter won't even become readable until a few hours more...".

"You believed you had thought of everything, didn't you?" Asuna scowled.

"Chamo told us all" Yue said between short pantings.

"He swore he wouldn't say anything!" Negi blinked.

"Oh, but I suspected" Haruna grinned evilly, then flexing her fingers in a rather unerving manner. "To his credit, it was VERY difficult to get him to talk... but I'm creative...".

"We-we want to be with you always, Sensei!" Nodoka managed to say under the weight of her lugagge. It looked like there were tons of books in those bags.

"Nodoka, I thought you, Yue and me had agreed on waiting to settle that..." Negi sighed. "To give it time to sort ourselves out...".

"To hell with that!" Evangeline barked angrily, stepping to him. For a moment, Negi found himself really regretting ever breaking her curse. "I know you! You are your father's son in all regards! If we ever leave you to your own devices, you'll become just like him! 'Waiting for some time' will be 'Leaving for years and years without even calling'!".

Their former teacher forced a grin. "I'd never do that...".

"You were about to do it" Mana pointed out.

"It'd have been 'years'! Not 'years and years'!" Negi protested.

"That has got to be the worst excuse attempt I've ever seen" Yuuna gave Zazie a cynical sideglare. Zazie did nothing but to nod once.

"You all will always be with me in my heart anyway—" Negi began, only to be cut by Asuna slamming her paper fan on his head.

"THAT CLICHE CRAP WON'T CUT IT!! WE ARE EXPECTING SOMETHING MORE FROM THIS RELATIONSHIP!".

"You don't need to be so afraid of the future, Sensei" Satsuki voiced her opinion softly.

"It's... It's not like I'm afraid..." he babbled. "I can take compromise, but I'm too young, and I don't know what's what yet, and—".

"No, you know what's what now. That's exactly why you were running away" Chao stated, crossing her arms with a smirk. "It's okay. Anyone would get scared at first...".

Negi gave her an uneasy stare. "Especially in your case, with our other relationship and all that..." he admitted.

Chao just grinned goofily. "That's okay! There are so many generations between us, it'd be just like marrying a distant cousin anyway!".

Negi blushed bright red, looking aside, gaining a sudden interest on a nearby tree. For a second he thought of getting a rope and walking to one of those branches, but decided against stealing that other teacher's shtick.

Chao grew more serious, blushing a bit as well. "Look, ever since I left, I... I couldn't stop thinking about you, you see? I really want to give this a try. Trust me, in the future, it won't be such a big deal. As a matter of fact, we started the trend".

Negi was growing even more concerned now. "The trend concerning blood filiation, or the one concerning the sheer numbers matter?".

"Both, actually" Chao confessed.

Negi sweated bullets. He turned to Kotaro and Natsumi. "And what are you doing here? You have each other...".

Natsumi fidgeted with her fingers nervously. "Ah, well, yes...".

"But..." Kotaro scratched the back of his neck, somewhat ashamed himself, "... We have you too...".

For a moment, Negi's right eye shrank to the size of a tiny point while the other eye grew large as a plate.

"You....?" He still meeked out, his eyes glaring weakly to Hakase.

She coughed awkwardly. "Often, only the extreme proximity of a definitive loss makes the human heart to realize its true orientation".

"I... I see..." Negi slumped his shoulders down in defeat.

"Don't worry about the details!" Asuna waved a hand. "I'm going to be the Queen of a whole country! I'll change the laws if I need to!".

Negi still sulked. Somehow, she wasn't giving the image he had of a Queen at all.

"A rule allowing a marriage between thirty three people?" the young mage asked, hoping his sarcasm wasn't too evident.

"Rule Thirty Four, actually" Chisame declared.

"Wha—??" Negi counted with his fingers at top speed. "Me, you girls, and Kotaro-kun... who else is there to add??!! Anya and Shiori moved on, and—".

Chachazero popped out of Chachamaru's backpack, grinning insanely.

Negi sweatdropped. "... Ah. Right. Sorry".

His brain was too broken by now. "I know I'll die, I know I'll do. I don't even have an idea of how could such a thing work in the details I don't even want to think about, and—".

Ayaka smiled grabbing him by an arm. "Oh, we already have thought of it all. In long, glorious, perfect detail. You don't need to worry about it!".

Konoka grabbed his other arm. "We'll tell you all about it on our way!".

"Our way" Asuna smiled and nodded, giving his back a soft yet strong push forward.

Negi figured out he'd better shut up as he, Konoka and Ayaka passed through the Gate.

... *slowly starts clapping* Oh. My. God. I cannot see how you are not proud of this. It deserves a perfect 100 out of 10 score! What's its (and the previous Mana-Setsuna piece's) title?

Also, clever Double Entendre by Chisame. evil grin What a sneaky vixen.

And two questions:

  1. So, Asuna is becoming the new Queen of Ostia (or perhaps the entirety of Mundus Magicus' various realms unified under the Ostian banner)? Is that an implicit statement that Arika is dead by that time? What about Nagi?
  2. Would I be correct in assuming that you personally don't see how you could work Anya and Shiori into the Tenchi Solution? Or was it a condition of the dare?

PS: I do believe that this piece deserves a group clapping from us.

What's its (and the previous Mana-Setsuna piece's) title?

They had no titles, actually. They were just posts in a thread titled something like 'Challenge Over Master with your Crack Pairings'. There's a Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei piece from there at the SZS TV Tropes thread now, too, in case anyone's interested.

1.So, Asuna is becoming the new Queen of Ostia (or perhaps the entirety of Mundus Magicus' various realms unified under the Ostian banner)? Is that an implicit statement that Arika is dead by that time? What about Nagi? 2.Would I be correct in assuming that you personally don't see how you could work Anya and Shiori into the Tenchi Solution? Or was it a condition of the dare?

It was a condition of the dare. Only Negi and 3-A. I still managed to squeeze Kotaro and Chachazero, but that's just because they were pretty much impossible to separate from the 3-A Nakama.

As for Arika, yeah, I kinda assumed she was dead when I wrote that.

Before I post the next three O T3s, here's another round of Negima shipping. Now the Mai Hime edition!

Mai Tokiha: Negi-Asuna.

Shizuru Fujino: Very, very heavily into Setsuna-Konoka.

Mikoto Minagi: Doesn't quite catch on the whole romantic angle. Pretty much flips through the manga to enjoy the flashy fights. She's big on the 'mass friendship' angle, though.

Natsuki Kuga: Kinda likes Mana, but doesn't think too much of shipping at first. At all. Shizuru later brings her over to Konoka-Setsuna.

Nao Yuuki: Thinks shipping is utterly stupid, but she kinda likes Kotaro. To some degree. I also can see Nao actually liking Evangeline, although it'd be a fully different tale if they really met.

Yuuichi Tate: Never can decide for a shipping to root for.

Shiho Munakata: Rabid Negi-Anya fan.

Miyu Greer: Ships Chachamaru with both Negi and Eva.

Alyssa Searrs: Too young to care about the romance.

Yukariko Sanada: Covert Pervert. Doesn't dare to bring herself to actually support any ship, but harbors... dreams unfitting a nun... about Takahata and Nagi.

Haruka Suzushiro: Thinks it's stupid to fantasy over romance with a kid, and she means it. Really, I think Haruka would be one of the few girls in anime totally immune to Negi's charm even if he tried. She's too stupid awesome to be tamed. Laughs at Ayaka finding her stupid, not realizing at all how alike they are.

Yukino Kikukawa: Not a big Setsuna-Konoka supporter, actually, although she still likes it. But tends to favor Nodoka-Yue.

Nagi Homura: Finds sharing a name with the protagonist's father, and looks with the protagonist's nemesis, amusingly ironic. Ships Negi and Chamo just to troll everyone else.

Akane Higurashi: Major Kotaro-Natsumi shipper.

Chie Harada: Negi-Kazumi.

Aoi Senou: As always, follows Chie around.

Reito Kanzaki: As himself, Negi-Asuna. As the Obsidian Prince, Fate-Asuna.

Midori Sugiura: Takahata-Shizuna. Maybe Takahata-Asuna to some degree too.

Takumi Tokiha: Negi-Asuna.

Akira Okuzaki: Now this is hard to say. She would admire Kaede, but I can see her favors actually going to Yue.
