That's why I'm not taking any of this too seriously; for all we know when he hits puberty he'll discover that he's a chubby chaser and end up with Satsuki.
34- Negi, Chisame and Mana.
Roanapur.
The island was the most wretched and vile hive of scum and villainy at the Seas of South, even possibly all of the hemisphere.
Its stench disgusted the tall and dark skinned shapely woman's nose as she stood silent and motionless at the waterfront, guns in hand, just waiting. And waiting. It almost was dawn.
Behind her, sitting lazily at the edge of the pier, a woman a few years older smoked a cigarette. There was a large tattoo all over one of her arms, and she smelled of cheap booze and lots of gunpowder. Between both women, a young Japanese man stood in concern, trying to decipher the expresionless face of the deeply tanned exotic beauty.
"Maybe we should go looking for them" he finally said. His soft, polite voice made him to look even more out of place there than his typical business shirt and formal black pants ensemble.
"No" the standing woman said evenly. "I trust my husband to pull his part off. He'll be here in any moment now".
"Whatever you say" the other woman mumbled bitterly, spitting her spent cigarette into the sea and getting herself another one. "Yeah, I can count the seconds for it already" she humorlessly mocked. "One, two, thr—".
Right then, a car speeded by, roaring like a bat out of hell from the nearby dark streets, and screeching from a sudden halt right before the black haired woman. She didn't even step back. She only smiled, in a slight but noticeable way.
The car's driver, a blond man with three days of unshaven beard and wearing a Hawaiian shirt, peeked his head out of the window, waving at the sitting woman and the other man. "Hey, Revy! Rock! No problems on your side, I see!".
The tattooed woman snarled dryly as she stood up. "Benny, you don't know the fuckin' half of it. Where are your two geeky pals? Couldn't take the local heat after all?".
The dark skinned woman shot her a glare. "Do you wish to battle again, Two Hands?".
Revy grinned insanely, fingering her guns. "I thought you'd never ask, Latina...".
The man who looked like a cubicle worker attempted to calm her down. "Now, now, Revy, please.. Not here...".
A young couple emerged from the car's backseat. First, a boy who barely looked like he was starting to reach adulthood, with small glasses and long brown hair. He was helping out a girl who had reminded Revy of a slightly less idiotic Greenback Jane, with round thick glasses and long brown hair.
"You may be good with computers, but you are a danger behind a driving wheel!" she was screaming at Benny.
"I'm usually not like that when I'm not being pursued by shooters and winged demon-things. Really" Benny replied calmly.
Meanwhile, the latin woman approached the young man, her smile becoming somewhat more placid. "Sensei" she said. Then she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him violently towards herself, kissing his mouth passionately. Benny coughed and looked aside. Revy and the other guy just stared with jaded eyes. The brown haired girl just waited quietly, sighing to herself.
Then the tall woman pulled apart from the kiss and repeated the kiss, now with her.
Now that made Benny to watch.
Rock Okajima let his jaw to fall just a little.
Revy merely arched an eyebrow. "Buncha weirdos".
As the latin female broke the kiss, the smaller young woman blushed deeply, looking down with embarrassment. "Wh-What the hell, Mana! Not before others!".
"You got it?" Tatsumiya Mana asked simply.
Still blushing, Chisame nodded and briefly pulled a disc out of her handbag before safely putting it back inside. "Now we can leave this miserable hellhole once and for all? You two may have had fun here, but it's different for the one who can't dodge bullets!".
The young man with glasses laughed weakly. "I promise we'll take you somewhere better next year!".
She pulled his cheeks apart. "IT'LL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU TO FIND ANY WORSE PLACE!".
Mana smiled turning to face Rock. "Thanks for everything, Okajima-san. Dean Konoemon will transfer your payment to your accounts as soon as we reach Mahora".
"He'd better" Revy snorted. "Or I'll go there and riddle your cheapskate asses full of bullets myself".
Mana forced a dangerous grin. "I'd be glad to cross guns with you again, Two Hands!".
"Same here, Lola!" Revy somehow managed to outcraze her grin with her own.
"Please, aren't we in the same side now?" Rock sighed in exhaustion.
A few minutes later, as the boat sailed away towards Japan, he was just happy they hadn't killed each other after all.
"So, Benny" Revy said as she went into the car.
"Yeah?" the pirate hacker asked.
"What the fuck was that they needed your help to crack?".
"Well, Revy, if you really need to know... it was part of a complex and dastardly plan from fiendish forces of beyond to destroy the Maginet, the superhighway of information for the Magical World, then to usher into a worldwide age of chaos and black magic".
"Fuck, Benny!" Revy spat the words out. "If you don't want to tell me, okay, but at least try a better goddamn joke!!".
"I'm serious!" Benny protested. "Hell, Revy, I can tell you that Springfield guy used magic to keep us alive back there! Real magic! I wouldn't have ever believed until tonight, but after almost being eviscerated by a troll with bat wings and a witch, I can tell you I have a new outlook on that crap!".
"Sure, Benny. Sure" the gunslinger shook her head. "Man, you sure are gullible. What kind of magic crack dusts did they give you? It sure had to be some poweful drug, if that's what that bitch was using. The slut was even worse than Roberta. I barely could keep up with her by giving all my best".
As the car hummed heading back home, Rock mused, "At least Dutch will be happy. Konoemon-san's payment should be more than enough to cover all the damage".
"Mmm-hmmm" Benny hummed, keeping his eyes on the street. "Just make sure they don't pay us in anything called 'Magi-dollars'. From what I learned there, those things have almost no value now".
"There's a crisis everywhere, I guess" Revy yawned and stretched. "This ain't a time for fairy tales anymore".
NEXT: Fumika and a secret surprise character.

About the Ship-to-Ship Combat, please look at this page
.
It is not easy to see, but the girl for who Negi showed the stronger reaction when Lacan was asking which one was his "official" was Nodoka.
It may be just because she had declared her lover for him, tough. However, I would like to point that, while Negi feel a bit uncomfortable about that matter when around her, he haven't showed such strong reactions to Ako in recent chapters. (he actually tried to seduce her, last time)
I haven't watched Initial D yet, so sorry.
Wasn't that anime referenced in one Lucky Star episode, when Konata's policewoman cousin started driving like crazy? Because I think I heard that was the reference there once, but if it's so, then that's my only connection with that anime.

^^^^I enjoyed that one a lot, especially Chisame's embarassment at Mana open display of affection. I will say, though, it's hard to picture Mana doing something like that; Character Development, I guess. A cross-over with Black Lagoon would be a fun ride, especially considering Negi's Chick Magnet abilities and how many dangerous women there are in Roanopur.
Regarding who Negi will ultimately end up with, I've pretty much adopted a "wait and see" approach. There's too much Ship Tease and Sub Text for me to choose one choice with any certainty. Besides, I'm more than half convinced Akamatsu won't give us a straight answer in the end.

I think that this
is an even better example of the same thing. He pretty much dismisses everyone else just out of hand...and then he freaks out. And also this
and this
for what happens when bad guys try to mess with her. Not a good idea.

Reaction Image RepositoryI must say Revy was rather entertaining to write, although this was my first ever attempt at giving her dialogue. Maybe I should add a few short pieces in this vein to the Black Lagoon thread once I finish here.
Edit: Regarding the Character Development part, yeah, part of the problem writing these is finding a balance between remaining true to the characters while still adding some sexual subtext that just isn't possible with a child Negi. I most often try to find a middle point by imagining how would the characters be in a few years or so.

I really wish that I knew Black Lagoon better, because I'm sure I'd find this even more entertaining if I did. Not that it isn't already.
I say Ku Fei since I felt that Akametsu gave some pretty subtle hints.
Also I thought it hinted since Chao said that she would see Ku Fei/Fight her again.
And that she told Ku Fei she was leaving, even though it was part of her scheme. Also I remember one chapter where it kind of says, "HEY GUYS DOESN'T CHAO LOOK SIMILAR TO KU FEI."
Despite my thinking Nodoka unlikely, I hope you don't think this means I am against such a thing happening. I'm not really into shipping, it's more like a game of 'can I successfully predict the correct love interest.' I have enough faith in the writing that nearly any final pairing will be written well enough. If it's not, there will be lots of cool fights before it.
(Haruna is my not-quite-joking example of a pairing I wouldn't accept, in case you're interested. She's scary)
I'd actually be rather happy with any pairing with any 3-A girl, even if it doesn't make much sense. I'll be sad for whoever loses, but I'll also be glad for almost whoever wins.
It says a lot about the cast the fact I don't actually hate any girl from the class enough to be fully adverse to the idea of them winning at the end. True, there are some of them I don't particularly care about, but that still wouldn't make me to protest if they win as long as the others aren't bashed down because of it.
The more I think about it, the more I realize that having Negi choose one particular girl over the others wouldn't really work. This series has always been about the ensemble, with Negi functioning as a leader for all the girls; to give one that kind of status over the others like that would irreparably damage their dynamics, I think.
So I guess this is me saying that the Harem ending is most plausible, if Negi ends up with anyone we know.
Where was this?
Didn't I say a while back that we have practically no precedent for that?
@Arha: I'm not particularly against any other ship either, as long as Akamatsu takes the time to develop it properly. I'd be content with pretty much anyone "winning" if it's not completely out of the blue.
And I was thinking to hard about all of the threesomes ideas, and I got one in my head that won't go away. So I'm dumping it here to stop it from bouncing around in my mind. Apologies to Overmaster if you were planning on doing this one:
Negi, Chisame, and Negi
When Chisame entered the bedroom, everything seemed the same as it always was. Except for a suspiciously long, thing package lying on the bed. She called into the bathroom.
"Negi, what the heck is this thing, and why is it on the bed?" Negi's voice echoed from behind the door.
"That's a welsh onion. Chizuru-san brought it over earlier. Thought we might want it."
"That's only half an answer. Why is it on the bed? Shouldn't you leave it in the kitchen or something?" There was a pause. Not at all reassuring. The silence carried a hint of awkwardness. Not nearly as awkward as the silence had been on that morning when they had woken up in the same bed for the first time, but more awkward than when Chisame had walked in on her teacher in the shower. "Well!?"
"It's...uh...not for eating..."
"What do mean 'not for eating'? What else could it-" Something clicked in the back of her mind. Her subconscious had gotten around to scouring out the relevant words in Negi's explanation: "Chizuru" and "onion". She recalled, for the first time in a while, a conversation with Natsumi concerning why the latter had a mild phobia of leeks. The explanation had involved Chizuru. "Negi, please tell me that this isn't for what I think it's for."
More silence. So it is for that, then. He sheepishly opened the door.
"She...uh...though that you might...um...you know...that it would add...some....uh..." He withered under her glare.
"And you actually though that I would want to do that?"
"Well, I figured that, you know, since we...uh...it's always the same..." She glared even harder. Daggers. "Uh, not that it's bad...it's really good, but... maybe we could...try something a little different." He scratched the back of his head. She was now glaring swords at him rather than daggers. It wasn't working. He was too damn earnest. Chisame turned her gaze to the package on the bed.
"Okay, fine." She grumbled it out as much as possible to kill any chance that he might try this again. She looked back at him. He was obviously trying not to smile. "Okay." She muttered, as she began to peel away her clothes. "Let's get this over with."
(DATA REDACTED IN THE INTEREST OF KEEPING THIS EVEN VAGUELY WORKSAFE)
Chisame faced the wall, holding the sheets against her naked chest, trying and failing to calm her heartbeat enough to get to sleep. Negi was curled up on the other side of the bed, sleeping soundly. Chisame was still wide awake, thoughts racing. I can't believe I just did that. A friggin' onion. She tried to think of something else. Maybe about how she should update her website. Then thoughts of her fanboys flooded her brain. What would they think if they knew about what happened!? That Chiu-chan stuck an onion up her- Negi rolled over in his sleep. What the hell was I thinking!? She clamped her eyes shut. How did I let this happen? Her heart started racing again. How could I let myself enjoy it!? Damn onion. She rolled over, seeking a better position. She found herself face to face with Negi. What a cute kid. Too cute, damn it. The last thing she thought before sleep took her was whether she should punch Chizuru or thank her. Or maybe ask her to drop off another onion...
Damn, that took longer than I thought it would.
@Shay Guy: There's no precedent for anything in Negima. We know how much Akamatsu likes screwing around.

Reaction Image Repository^ HA HA MOTHER FUCKING HA.
I love all of OM's stuff, especially the Black Lagoon crossover, but that was jokes. To be honest I'm surprised that Chisame was the one undergoing the "cold remedy".
BTW, after the Chachazero chapter, I'm going to have to preemptively forbid a Principal Konoemon chapter. Takamichi...eh, I guess it'd be okay.
Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this.. . .
Brain Bleach, plz.
although they could have it differently, with Chisame as the top and Negi as the bottom.
"That said, as I've mentioned before, apart from the helmet, he's not exactly bad looking, if a bit...blood-drenched." - juancarlosA Dean Konoemon chapter, you ask for?
Ask and you shall have!
Just consider yourself lucky it's brief.
35- Negi, Chisame and Konoemon.
She was pretty sure some wise man had once said both young age and old age had their advantages, but no one could enjoy them both at the same time.
She didn't remember who that wise man was. Maybe she'd ask one of her own men later. But she was sure the first part of the sentence was right. The second one, not so much.
^...no comment.
One idea for a Negima/Black Lagoon crossover: instead of being assigned to Mahora, Negi is instead sent to work as a salaryman in the shipping and handling department for an industrial group called Asahi Industries. One day he is asked to deliver a data diskette to a customer in the South China Sea, and, well, if you're familiar with Black Lagoon, you know the rest.
Pat. St. of Archive Binge
@Over Master: Revy and Mana. In the same fic. <_< >_> :-D
You have a knack for this.
@Japanese Teeth: If I might paraphrase this
◊: my whole Haruna fic will be a success if I ever get to be half as evil as you. Love it.

Well, he has to be. All joking, innuendo and Ship Tease aside, he's still only ten, eleven or early twelve at most considering all the time he has spent under training on different 'time pockets'. Still, all signs point to him being much less Oblivious to Love when he finally matures, unlike most other shounen protagonists.
