Read through We Will Use Micros In The Future. That's alright, I'll wait.

Anyway, ALOT of the example in the page - and I would not hesitate to even say the majority, do not fit this this trope. The trope is about "In-Story" computer displays in a futuristic setting being more primitive than the present. The trope is clearly limited to graphics and displays. But most of the examples simply lists whatever Schizo Tech the setting has, or whatever example of Technology Marches On rather than limiting themselves to the specific subset the trope describes. See all the mentions of tapes, CDs and storage device. Now, cleaning up the bad examples is easy enough, but perhaps we can figure how to keep them from returning?

Perhaps expanding the "see also" section with the differences would help?

I did not get that feeling having read the page at all.

To me, this appears to be something deserving of being a subtrope of Technology Marches On.

[up] Yes. So how can we make the description clearer, so the examples fit?

Well, for one thing, it needs a rename. Think about it: if you feel you need to explain the operating word in a snowclone trope title in the trope article, something is less than optimal.

How about Graphics Will Not Be Better In The Future?

(edit: I realize the question was about what could be done about the description, but I suspect the current title is responsible for many of the examples that don't fit.)

I was thinking along the same line, so that can work. The new title works for sure.

Our Graphics Will Suck in the Future.

Now for the description...

"The picture on the left is what Star Trek predicted your computer monitor would be able to display."

"The picture on the right is what your computer monitor actually can display".

Also: Subtrope of Technology Marches On, not "related to". Or even better "This is a subtrope of Technology Marches On and a particularly egregious one at that because the evidence is before your very eyes."

Otherwise, I think the description does its job. I will start to move some examples to Technology Marches On.

So we all in favor of a rename to Our Graphics Will Suck in the Future?

Since apparantly no one has any problems with it, I will do the rename.

The old title isn't a redirect at the moment, that should be fixed. (I would do it myself, but even after looking it up I still have no clue how.)

Old title was cut. I fixed all the wicks that led to it to make them point to the new title. Seeing as the old title seem to have contributed to the misuse, I dont mind seeing it gone.
