Cubone is an entire species of Woobies.

^^ Ruby & Sapphire's Pokédex entry contains all the info you need :

"Cubone pines for the mother it will never see again. Seeing a likeness of its mother in the full moon, it cries. The stains on the skull the Pokémon wears are made by the tears it sheds."

Yup, so far Cubone is the best proposition made, and the one I support the most, even before the ones I made.

I'm not entirely sure your point. It's a video game character that happens to be an entire race of woobies. All the fluff from Yellow on has been about its woobieness. If you have something better, please share.

The cubone from Red/Blue had its mother murdered by Team Rocket in front of it. I can't think of anything that DOESN'T make it a woobie.

Alright, they're a Woobie. But they're a Woobie from a card game, not a video game. Otherwise there's no reason why we cannot have Jack Bauer as the trope image because he was in a game.

...Pokémon started as a video game. Cubone was one of the original 150 from said video game. The card game was based on the video game.

Alright. Show us an image that looks like it's from a game.

Due to graphics limitations, there are no images from the game itself that can get the woobieness across. This particular requirement is silly for the simple reason that no image that could be used to illustrate would be directly recognizable as being from a game, unless of course an interface is visible, and that is usually avoided due to clutter.

I think the crying Cubone is good. They look cute, they look little, they look sad. Same as WALL-E.

Heck, the white background version looks like a perfect parallel to the WALL-E image we have. I think we could even use the same caption.

I'm good with the Cubone image. It's obviously woobie-ish and the in-canon description fits.

As for whether or not it looks like it's from a videogame, it's fairly irrelevant; videogames have so many different styles that there's no "obviously videogame" style. The fact that it's on the Woobie: Videogames page should be enough context for readers to figure out that it's from a videogame.

Is there a screenshot in the game that describes the Cuebone's plight? If so, we can do a two part image, one showing Cuebone, and the other the description.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.

Come on, there isn't something from Pokemon Stadium or something that can be used? I'm making it hard for you because everyone had brought up all these obstacles. If we can just overcome this last hurdle and get a good image from the game then everyone will be happy.

A screenshot from the handheld games isn't good enough? That's beyond just being hard on principle.

[up][up]We only brought up that obstacle because you brought it up in your first post and were applying a double standard to your own choice of the Mass Effect screenshot.

I think the original crying Cubone image should work fine. It's simple and illustrates the point without need of a caption or text to explain it. It's like the WALL-E image.

Um...I don't know how to break this to you, but, well, that was not actually my screenshot. That was the image that was used before. Now one of the complaints was that the image had to look like it's from a video game. I did suggest one from Pokemon Stadium would work if you still wanted to use it

It seems we both made a slight mistake. The original post was by the user The Pope, referring to a bunch of Tokimeki Memorial screenshots as looking like they were from an anime. From there, you seemed to latch on to that and assume it was referring to the Vivi picture.

Either way, it's a requirement that should be ignored. PokémonStadium does not have any images of Cubone to qualify, so we are going to use the original illustration.

Just like the Oh, Crap! image discussion recently, maybe it would be best to throw up a collage of pics.
