Wow, really? Vivi was picked? I only have the barest inkling who that is, but truth be told, Vivi is way down the list of recognizable Final Fantasy characters. I guess they were looking for a physically adorable Woobie, like WALL-E. I think Vivi is closer to looking like a regular Final Fantasy monster than a Cute Monster (although they're one and in the same often).
I don't know, are the Little Sisters too creepy to portray? A sobbing Sister from Bioshock 2 is a good example.

Perhaps a good pic of a Little Sister would work.
Hmmm.

Currently reading up My Rule Fu Is Stronger than YoursWALL-E doesn't realize how lonely his life is until he meets EVA. Whether or not they know they're in a bad spot is irrelevant: these are small girls ripped from their families, horrifically mutated and brainwashed into drinking the blood of corpses so they can be harvested very painfully the Applied Phlebotinum they process through their bodies.
If a Big Daddy is killed and there's no player to adopt them, it's pretty easy to assume that they get ripped to shreds and eaten alive by Splicers—and then, if the player does kill their Daddy, they can either have their stomach ripped open and the slug inside eaten as they bleed to death, or be cured and suddenly become wholly aware of the terrifying world they live in. In the second game, they can be adopted by a new Daddy only to be killed once their use has been dried up, or be killed instantly by the person they are psychically compelled to believe is their father.
They've never seen the outside world, and even one of them pre-Sisterfication freaks out at the sight of a tree, so once they come to the surface (and if they manage to make it) they're confronted with a world they're utterly ignorant of and will be forced to adapt despite spending the last few years of their life as little more than zombies.
They're Woobies, through and through.

Vivi had been the page image for as long as the page existed. Maybe it's just my familiarity with Final Fantasy 9, but Vivi is most certainly the type of character you just want to give a hug after all the crap he has to suffer through.
The little sisters.... hell no.
The problem is the Little Sisters don't act like Woobies at all. They're adorable, yes (at least in 2; in the original they were trapped in the Uncanny Valley), but they don't act Woobish at all.
I hate the Final Fantasy series with a passion, yet the Vivi pic looked fine enough to me as far as I'm concerned. In any case...
Ladies and gentlemen, I present you Tokimeki Memorial 2 's Woobie extraordinaire, Kaori Yae !
(The last one can serve as Image Links for Gray Rain of Depression if not picked. I can take shots of pics 4 and 5 without text if you prefer it that way).

Uh, that's not quite accurate. Originally it was blank, then someone posted the image I included, then the image of...of whoever that thing is.
Having never played Bioshock I kind of went with the idea that the Little Sisters were Woobies, but please, suggest some ideas.
Well, for the mention of the Legend Of Zelda series in the example list, Saria is the first character to be mentioned as a woobie. He's a couple of screenshots of her:

Saria isn't a woobie. Nothing really bad happens to her and she's never really sad. Just hopeful.
The little sisters from Bioshock are even less woobies. They're more Creepy Children.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickXion is a good example of this... If we can find the right screenshot.

Udina: Well, what about Shepard?
The former trope image I attempted to post didn't come up, but it was of Shepard hugging Talitha, with the caption text reading how she hit the hug button. Maybe that can be reused.

Yeah, there's that scene too. If there was a decent shot of Shepard I might try and use it. I meant Talitha. She was taken by Batarian slavers as a young girl, Shepard nearly was, when she escapes she wants to kill herself. If Shepard can stop her you get a scene of them hugging, which is basically what you want to do to a Woobie. I reupped the image so you an judge for yourself.
Oh yeah, I remember her. Hm. I don't know if it'll emote well enough, but I'll try and find something.
EDIT: I also cut it out until we decide. Is that alright?
ETA 2: The reason it's not showing up is because it's too wide and no longer allowed. For that reason, doesn't it invalidate the image? The quality was pretty poor anyway.

PS: No, it wasn't showing up because the filename (and therefore the URL) was too long and one of the anti-forum-troll measures cut it up.

Is there like an image of that scene from one of the big super dooper high definition eight foot 3D T Vs? If we can find a 2048 x 1536 shot would that meet the quality requirements?

Who is this character? Why are they a Woobie? The text does nothing to help describe how they are. We can do much better.
