A couple years ago I wore a suit and carried a briefcase on Halloween, saying I was the stock market.

Scariest costume ever.

I'll be the Shadow this year.

This hat, white shirt, black slacks, black oxfords, crimson scarf, and black trench coat. I'll need to acquire the cape in time.

I'mma be a plague doctor! With this mask! Is it not awesome? It is so awesome. My co-workers acted like I was a weirdo, but I'm sure they were secretly writhing with jealousy. wink

I'm thinking of doing a Hitchhikers theme this year. I'm going to be Ford Prefect; just gotta talk my friends into filling the other roles.

I'm going "creepy caroling" with some friends - dress as Uncanny Valley Victorian carolers, and sing Scary Solstice songs and such from door to door.

I'm going as Dr. McNinja this year. It'll relatively easy costume to make, recognizable even if you've never really heard of the webcomic (it's a ninja that's a doctor - what else is there to know?), and I can recycle most of the outfit for a Shinra crossplay at Sakuracon.

I'm being lazy this year and wearing my kendo gi. I might get some sandals to go with it.

I went as Rorschach noir to a party last night - the normal costume, but in all black and white. I was worried that people would recognise the character and be sick of it from last year, but since it was a work party, nobody knew. I am ambivalent about this.

I've got my ninja-esque-but-not-strictly-a-ninja costume all lined up, and I'm about to change into it, partially, and go to an afternoon-long thing the games club is doing. Not to play games, mind you, but mostly to see everyone else's costumes, and to attempt what is possibly the only thing I'll ever do that could be described as trolling. Since my costume covers literally every scrap of skin and distinct identifying features, and only three people have ever seen me in this costume before, and they might not even be there, and I didn't tell anyone what my costume was going to be this year...no one will recognize me! I'll just walk into the room and not talk and see how long it takes for them to identify me. I'm going to approach the building in a roundabout route with my costume hidden under my normal clothes, then take those off and put on the mask(s) and gloves in an empty classroom, then go. It'll be hilarious...hope I can stay silent and composed under pressure until I get bored and reveal myself!

EDIT: Goddamnit I am such an idiot...turned out this event was tomorrow! At least it gave me a chance to give the whole "costume under clothes" thing a trial run, and it worked well. It's actually quite comfortable wearing long underwear (or whatever you call the bottom component of the outfit...girls have it easy, they can just say they're wearing leggings!) under regular pants, and I can see why some of my friends do so on particularly cold days.
