Also, that way we could have more music derails instead of Touhou derails and seiyuu derails and bitching about the fora derails.
I just used "derails" to mean "topic". Gah.
We should call them "digressions".

That's another thing, I don't like the fact that every time I go on there, someone's bitching about someone else.
Not that that doesn't happen here, I just don't think I really need any more of it.
I also just plain don't like chatrooms with a lot of people in them.

I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....Wait, it does happen here?
Well, the chat is nice for what Tzetze mentioned. And also for topics that...are taboo on the fora themselves.
If you don't like what's being discussed in the channel at a given time, just start talking about something else. If people want to talk about it and are around, they'll respond. I've done it many times. Be bold.
Edit: Oh, do you mean that people are bitching about things, or do you mean that they are talking about things you have no interest in?

People bitching about people.
On here, it's obviously less direct, due to rules and things like that. But it happens all the time.
Another thing, is that frankly I'm unwilling to accept an entity our moderators/admins have no control over as part of our community. I'm aware that the chatroom has its own mods, etc. but they're not the same people, which causes Forum/Chatroom Drift. I've seen it happen elsewhere, and I can type up the full scenario if you want.
I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....No, you want #tropers for that, the room that predates the fora.
You should know that it's kind of disingenuous to complain about how somewhere is run when you've been there for all of a few minutes.
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.Well, to some extent, that might be a good thing, since some topics that one isn't allowed to discuss in one place gets an outlet elsewhere, so you actually get less bitchy undercurrents on the fora.
That said, I don't think that Fast Eddie, with his notoriously laissez-faire management style, probably cares much. Not that he can do much about the channel anyway.
I wouldn't mind one or more of the forum mods becoming IRC mods, FWIW. I don't run the channel (I'm not head mod), so I can't decide about that, but none of the forum mods seem terribly interested in moderating IRC either. (Correct me if I'm wrong.)
And while there is bitching about other people, there's also lots of miscellaneous chatter about lots of other topics. And as I said, if you don't like the current topic, just start talking about one that you do like. I do it all the time.
EDIT: HOLY SHIT I GOT NINJA'D BY SEVEN POSTS

I have no problems (at the moment, anyway) with how the chatroom is run. But I can almost guarantee that it's not run the same way as the forums, whether that's a good or bad thing is debatable.
In any case, I'm not saying I won't be going back, just that I disagree with GMH's stated aspiration for the place.
haha.

I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....@ Spain Sun: Well, I'd say that ponicalica, Anemotaxis, and myself are tighter with security and monitoring, on average, than these fora, if it's any consolation.
Though there's one person I'm still undecided whether i should ban or not. Gotten a bunch of complaints about him, but he seems to have mellowed out gradually...
I think we ran into a problem like that a bit back. Most people use their forum names now a days.
Read my stories!

the first part worked fine, presumably because it was three legitimate characters.
I'll type it by hand next time. gotta find something to substitute the I for, though.
