Main criticism is that she's not Intrepid (in that pic), not that she's not a Reporter. Intrepid isn't just meaningless bumf here, I think it's essential to the trope.
EDIT: Also, Intrepid is pretty close to Badass, really. I mean, sure, about half of these guys will turn out to be Redshirt Reporter types, in over their heads. But if you succeed at being intrepid, you're gonna be a badass. The Frank West implies that intrepidity has occurred — badass is also implied, but you cannot be badass without some situation requiring that you be intrepid to some extent.
I dunno. I'm sure there are Badass Cowards, but I think they're rare.

Intrepid is not Badass. It's just Fearless. In fact, most of the things associated with Badass mean you can't be Intrepid. Intrepid is being in over your head when you can't fight back but going in any way. It's fearless, yes, but once you take up arms you give up the trope. An Intrepid Reporter goes into a war zone armed only with a camera and a microphone. The baseball bat is not this trope.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. Dick
I didn't say it was Badass. I said it had a relationship with badassery. The baseball bat is not fully this trope, but there is no "Technical Pacifist" law for Intrepid Reporters. And if there is, it needs to be added to the description by an interested party or parties.
I agree that Frank West is taking this trope to an overblown and violent degree, but I disagree that this in itself means he no longer looks like an Intrepid Reporter.

Jade from Beyond Good And Evil?
I don't know much about the character, but from what I understand now he is an example of the trope.
Someone just wanted the image for Going for the Big Scoop.
That reason is...probably not entirely truthful. Imo.
I also assumed that as long as the image illustrated the trope, the actual character didn't matter.
EDIT: From the Wiki page.
"Frank must defend himself from zombie attacks, rescue survivors, contend with crazed psychopaths, and stay alive while still attempting to uncover the truth behind the incident."
He fits in my opinion. Others disagree.

He's not quite an example of the trope. He was one before the game starts and the point that the image is from. The problem is, the image is horrible at actually conveying what the trope actually pertains to. He just looks like a thug.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickWell, if Frank West is an Intrepid Reporter, that "con" line should be deleted. If he is not an Intrepid Reporter, that option should be deleted from the crowner. Can someone who knows the character enlighten those of us that do not?
Also, as far as I know: just because a character is an example doesn't mean a picture of them makes a good page image, but if they aren't an example, then they can't be the page image. Being an example is a necessary but not a sufficient condition.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Hm, is it just me, or is Jade
◊ totally awesome? I have never played that game and have no familiarity with the character. Reporter: camera in hand, check. Intrepid: infiltrating an enemy compound, check.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I honestly think Jade is the best at conveying the image. She has every single element. Frank is honestly just going to end up here again eventually as JAFAAC for not showing him in action and just standing there.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickActually, yeah, "has a camera" says "photographer" to me, not "reporter". How many reporters take their own pictures? <— Aesthetic Myopia
Oh, huh, I guess that is common visual shorthand.

Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:

Agh, that Frank West pic is terrible. Maybe if we could get a pic of him without the blood and the bat, maybe? This isn't "Badass Reporter."
Looking for a good Lois pic now - Lois Lane is this trope.
Found one, looking for more
◊.
Found another
◊, though it's... a little creepy.
Also, this pic is not JAFAAC, given that she's obviously a reporter in the pic, and the main criticism of it is that it's not that great quality rather than anything else. The easiest solution would be to find a version of it that's not such poor quality.
