> If they don't add Malkavians, I'm going to be very disappointed.
Malkavians DLC here we come!
New theme music also a boxAre we sure there will only be 5 Clans at the beginning?
Yes, the devs have been very clear on that. And the official site has only had five spots (not counting Thinbloods).

"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnWell, damn. My friend was hoping to play as Gangrel, looks like he'll have to wait.
For what it's worth the first series of planned DLC is called "Season of the Wolf" so I would be shocked if Gangrel aren't the first free Clan.

"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnNormally I don't follow releases very closely, but this time, f*ck it, Bloodlines is one of my favorite CRP Gs, and most of the original team is back (and Chris Avellone, who's freakin' everywhere these days), so count me in on the hype train.
What do we know about the game thus far? I know we play as a Thin-Blood, so is the Clan System scrapped? Or do we turn into a actual capital-V Vampire later on?
Yep, you only begin the game as a Thin-Blood. You get to join the Clan of your choice later in the game, though only five Clans will actually be available in the base game (Brujah, Ventrue, Toreador, Tremere, and a yet-to-be-revealed fifth Clan), with others being given later through DLC. Also, these are 5th edition Thin-Blood, so they Took a Level in Badass and now have their own Disciplines (Mentalism, Chiropteran and Nebulation), which you'll retain even after joining a Clan (though to keep balance each Clan now has only 2 disciplines instead of 3).
As for what else we know... we know the game takes place in Seattle, that it involves a Mass Embrace at the beginning creating lots of Thin-Blood (you included), and that the first DLC, "Season of the Wolf", will very likely involve Werewolves.

And it isn't just set in the same Universe, it's a thematic sequel as well, so there's likely to be connections to the original Bloodlines.
They did a bit more of an info dump on gear - weapons degrade, guns are supposed to be more a combat specific thing - you use them and discard them, a la John Wick. A few other details from the streams, I'll see if I can dig them out later.
Heard they were improving the combat as well, which doesn't say much because removing testicle cancer through self-sergury on a friday night is an improvement over the original's battle system.
Anyway, this will be based on The Masquerade, right? Will they put in the Gehenna storyline? It was only weeks away in the first on IIRC.
They're accounting for the new ruleset issue. One theory is that the world is going through Gehenna... just VERY VERY SLOWLY,
So, instead of the Antediluvians rising en masse and darkness descending, it's a slow case of the world just turning to shit and devouring itself.
The new V 5 rules retcon the end times of the oWoD and I believe pulled a bit of a soft reboot.
As others have stated you adopt a Clan, the current hypothesis is that you hunt down the Person who orchestrated the Mass Embrace.
Another possible (but less likely) solution is some kind of McGuffin.
If you want to know more about Bloodlines 2 PC Gamer has a good article on it, Every Detail From Our First Look at Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2. There's also a What We Know So Far thread on the forum which contains a list of all the bits of information that have been released so far.

I... didn't see that coming. I mean, I know they were highly popular, but I honestly expected Nosferatu to fill the Stealth role. Oh, well, not going to complain.
Kooky dialogue or we riot!
Rock, Paper, Shotgun had a little interview with Mitsoda about them, and yes, they are getting unique dialogue, at least. The interview isn't explicit if it's entirely unique dialogue, a la Bloodlines 1 Malks? But I think that's the implication. Their disciplines are Dementate and Auspex — so no Obfuscate in the base game, looks like.
In any case, I just won a bet with a mate, regrettably not for any actual money.

I guess they want to keep Obfuscate the unique Discipline for Nosferatu when they come out.

MALKAVIANS!
I knew Paradox wouldn't let me down! That Stop Sign is going to pay!

I hold the secrets of the machine. And RPS has a full breakdown interview with Mitsoda - interesting how they had to write the Malks last, once they had all the story one, so they could incorporate all the hints and meta knowledge.
They're also leaning away from the "zany" Malk and more on the darker interpretations of basically being an oracle, but not being able to control it as well as they could.
Fuck yeah clan Malkavian!
So now that we know all five launch clans, can someone who knows their stuff explain what each clan’s gameplay archetype is? Please? Thank you.
Going from the previous game and what little I know from the tabletop:
- Brujah: Straight-up physical fighters, with Matrix Bullet Time and Super-Strength.
- Toreador: The Social Expert, will probably focus on dialogue choices and manipulation.
- Tremere: Blood Magic, probably the designated "Wizard"-class with powerful Ao E and long-range spells.
- Ventrue: No clue, never played with them in Bloodlines.
- Malkavian: The Crazy Awesome class, will probably focus on stealth.
Nosferatu r 2 ugly for the main game, they have to write every interaction around their appearance, which could take some time
edit> :No clue, never played with them in Bloodlines.
They're the clan who always have persuasion skills

Ventrue, much like Toreadors, tend to be social butteflies. The difference is that Toreador tend to be more about passion and art and joie de vivre, while the Ventrue tend to be more the Lordly, kingly bent. CE Os and statesmen, the power to command vs the power to seduce.
Its likely the main differencves playstyle wise will come down to
1: Dominate is better at commanding , Presence at convincing, meaning different dialogue options and opportunities
2: Celerity vs Fortitude. Toreadors are FAST when they want to be. Ventrue on the other hand, are just bullet sponges and Implacable

Brujah - "I'm going to wreck your shit with my bare hands. RAWR!"
Toreador - "Oh look, the Prince of the City is about to call a Blood Hunt on your ass. Having a silver tongue has it's benefits."
Ventrue - "That Toreador idiot thinks they persuaded me to nail you to a barn door. But they were merely pawns in my play."
Thinbloods - "Oh shit, I'm going to die."
Malkavians - "I warned you, human! (hysterical laughter)"
Tremere - "A pity, the Blood Hunt. But at least your corpse will be good material for my research."

I hold the secrets of the machine.
There's a good chance they won't, not a first at least.
For the unannounced Clans one is definitely Ventrue and the other points towards Nosferatu. And Nosferatu would make more sense in that the devs are clearly aiming at each release Clans filling a specific gameplay archetype, Nosferatu would be stealth.
Still, who knows. Maybe we'll get a non-Ventrue clan reveal today and the mystery will be revealed.
