I thought it was a great episode, actually. This seems to be an incredibly YMMV season.
It's hilariously heartless that they'll make fun of us for d'awwwwing and crying over the end of Seymour.
Farnsworth had a bit too much fear of evolution on that Bot planet.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI thought the ep was pretty meh, too, except for four absolutely brilliant jokes:
1) The endless lineup of missing links.
2) "Another one of Fry's dogs."
3) Bender's spring with eyeballs being part of the robot museum's evolution display.
4) The judge allowing Bender's purposeless suspenders ... for now.
This season sure is doing the social issues thing a lot more. First robosexual marriage and now this. I don't mind too much, but at the same time I don't want Futurama to become a really political show.
I guess it is.It's more of a general Were Still Relevant Dammit season. Out of 9 aired episodes, four have to do with "current" pop culture— Prop 8, Creationism, Apple/ social media, and the Da Vinci Code. Some of the references are already old (Who talks about Dan Brown anymore? And Susan the Boil? Really, Futurama?). They should stop trying to be relevant and just be Futurama.
Personally, I think the best episodes this season have been the ones that focused less on "current" issues and more on personal story— mainly "The Late Philip J. Fry" and "Lethal Inspection."
(Of the four current events eps, the last one was probably the best. The three others have their moments, but largely felt... underwhelming.)
What about being eaten by a dragon shark made of lasers? I don't think you can beat that with much.
Fight smart, not fair.the creationism debate isn't a current event. It's a debate that's been going on for about 150 years.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyi really liked the episode except for the flying spaghetti monster joke.
you can't just go aroundhaving your characters explain who or what they are! THAT MAKES ME FEEL ANGRY!!
Wait, running through it in my head, shouldn't it be simple to prove by contradiction that you can't restore everyone to their original bodies in this situation? I was waiting for it to be revealed that the two Globetrotters were stuck in each other's bodies, but maybe I messed something up. Or is the joke that they just sort of fudged the math in the background?
Also, hooray for Crack Pairings!
No it works. I couldn't write out the proof, but I'm pretty sure you can do it.
Fight smart, not fair. No, it's just that a transfer between two specific bodies is one way and can't go backwards.
Fight smart, not fair.Congratulations, you win a Cookie, a T-Shirt, and Twenty "Future Points", to be cashed in on December 31st, 2999.
I loved this episode. INGENIOUS use of the Mind Switcher. It actually reminded me of another great Futurama ep, Three Hundred Big Boys, in which one big event sets off a bunch of smaller stories with all the other characters.
Also, Scruffy/Washbucket was a total tearjerker and I now ship them. And I don't even ship!

Robot Evolution Who'da thunk it?
