Quickie Questions

Go To

This thread is for quick questions. A "quick question" is a question which has a relatively quick, generally factual answer; a question which is not likely to inspire an extended discussion.

e.g.

Quick Question: How tall is an average ten-year-old boy?
Not a Quick Question: Why are Americans obsessed with guns?

Quick Question: Why is ALS sometimes called Lou Gehrig's Disease? Who was Lou Gehrig?
Not a Quick Question: In Alan Dean Foster's Thranx Commonwealth series, is Pip a Mary Sue?

Get the idea?

I'm not out to change anyone's mind, I just wanted to know if his way of thinking was common.

Not uncommon, I find, though not at all the majority. I find that such certainty is a product of insufficient sample size; in other words, not enough experience with people to discover that they're not as predictable as they think.

I'm not quite sure what you're saying. Are you saying that he thinks negatively about certain people because he does not know enough of the saner fans, and instead mainly has experience with those closer to the Fan Dumb side?

If I change my name to a knock-knock joke, and copyright it, and somebody uses that joke on a movie without my permission, can I sue them?

How high does one need to be to use a parachute, do parachutes work over water, and can you parachute painlessly into water from the aforementioned altitude?

So there are English words like "hush" and "shush" to tell someone to go quiet, but are there any similar words to tell someone to go away?

Yeah, parachutes work over water, just look at the returning Apollo capsules.

What's the difference between muffins and cupcakes?

Cupcakes are usually iced, tend not to contain chocolate chips or fruit, and make no pretence at being healthy. As far as I know.

Be not afraid...

Muffins are also larger, denser, and can be eaten warm. Muffins are also an acceptable breakfast food, while cupcakes are not.

[up]BITE YOUR TONGUE! Cupcakes can be eaten warm and are good for breakfast if I say they are and I do so they are!

I have a question for the fanfic.

Would having someone bleed all over you and having the blood soak through your clothes, would that feel at all like you've peed your pants?

Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about.

[up][up]I'm not sure, but since blood is thicker, it probably wouldn't feel entirely similar. It'd also probably feel a bit sticky.
