It's funny. Whichever of the two happens, it'll feel stupid either way.

Or maybe Blizzard is planting foreshadowing all over the place, but doing it in the words of famously unreliable narrators, knowing that they can pick and choose which of those hints to actually use and have it remain consistent.

Remember, the Light picks a single truth and blinds itself to all others, leading to zealotry; while the Void sees every possible truth and has no way to know which are the real ones, leading to madness.

N'Zoth believes that we will serve him, and all of his whispers are designed to reinforce that. But what he doesn't know is what will lead to his ultimate demise, which is coming. So even if every single thing he says comes true, it's not the complete truth.

The whispers that interest me the most are these -

  • The King of Diamonds has been made a pawn.
  • To find him, drown yourself in the Circle of Stars.
  • The Boy-King sits at the Master's Table. Three Lies will he offer you.
  • The Light has made a Pact with the Enemy of All.

And from the journal of Ogmot the Mad, "The First Lie has been told. All hail!" This happens in Silithus on the outbreak of War.

EDIT: Some more interesting ones -

  • At the hour of her third death, she ushers in our coming.
  • When the arrow finds its mark, the last fetter will fall away.
  • Six seats at the high table. Six mouths that hunger. One will consume all others.

WoWHead made a compilation of all the whispers heard so far. Speculations aside, there's a lot of foreshadowing.

I always wondered if the "boy-king" could have referred to Wrathion, but he's been largely absent outside of island expeditions.

Wonder what the first lie is. My first thought is keeping quiet what happened to Calia, but he isn't keeping that secret, at least not to Jaina.

Pretty sure the first one, at least, is referring to how the Heart of Azeroth, which Magni has repeatedly trumped up as the key to healing Azeroth, ultimately becomes the key to N'Zoth's release.

Shamelessly plugging my comics, Oh yes.

Except the implication, to me, was that Anduin would be the one who lies.

Random Thought: Could the Third Death one refer, not to the obvious Sylvanas, but to Azshara?

She hasn't died twice. She just died once - when she got drowned in the aftermath of the Sundering.

My guess is it's Alleria - who has died twice. Once in the novel "A Thousand Years of War" and once after she absorbed the Voidform of L'Ura in the Seat of the Triumvirate. However, both of those deaths are metaphorical, so it's kind of iffy.

Or it could also be Azeroth - first two deaths are the First and Second Sunderings. The third could be imminent. The Heart of Azeroth tooltip does say it's being used to revive a dying world.

The "Six seats" line could refer to the Old Gods themselves, but there are (or were) only five, last I checked. The Titan Pantheon has six members if you don't count Sargeras. It's vague enough to apply to anything.

[up][up] My interpretation of that line has been that the six seats at the high table represent the six primordial cosmic forces. Light and Shadow, Life and Death, Order and Chaos.

Death is the force that is most actively trying to "devour all others" at the moment, however in the end all of the cosmic forces are dangerous to mortal life in a pure and untempered state.

I've been feeling a little burnt out on max-level content lately so I decided to level up a Lightforged Draenei.

And I got to admit that while world scaling and making professions expansion-specific did help things substantially, it still doesn't feel like a proper piece of content in it's own right. It's feels more like the last vestiges of lots of old content you have to get through in order to reach the real content.

That isn't to say I'm not having fun, because I am, it's just that on both a mechanical level and a story level, it's clear that leveling is kind of fundamentally broken. Like I would recommend if a new player wants to understand the story, they should take the level 110 boost and then just look up any questions they may have online, and trying to get a sense of the overall narrative by leveling from 1 will only serve to confuse them. And that's completely bonkers.

Leveling itself also doesn't really feel meaningful. The vast majority of levelups don't unlock any content or grant any abilities, it's just a number that ticks up.

I'm not sure there is really a permanent fix that doesn't involve a second world revamp and a level squish, which would both be very substantial tasks on Blizzard's end, but I do think this a problem worthy of serious investigation.

My Orc is already clearing out his stables for those two.

It's about damn time.

As for leveling content, I can't bring myself to use boosts, because seeing those Reputation Bars not filled or missing gives me Super OCD.

Warmode. Depending on your server, it could mean it's swarming with Horde.

One idea I've seen floating around in the community (most recently in a Taliesin youtube video) is giving the Allied Race treatment to Classes.

The fact is there's a lot of classes that exist in lore that are just too similar to existing classes to exist on their own, but are just different enough that you can't really replicate their feel by playing an existing class.

To explain how I would like to see it implemented, here's an example of what I would like to call a Class Variant:

Priest/Priestess of the Moon: When activated many of your abilities will have their appearances change. Some will be a simple pallet swap (ie healing abilities will switch to having silvery light), others will look very different and change their names. So for example Shadowfiend will become Spirit Owl (Shadowfiend), and some cast animations may involve pulling out and using a spectral bow for offensive spells. Mechanically all of these spells will be identical minus the occasional change in damage type, which isn't that important in the modern game.

Variant Classes will also sometimes be able to break typical transmog rules. In this case a Priest of the Moon can transmog bows over staves, and when doing so the spectral bow used in some animations would be replaced by their mogged bow.

Now the question is, who can play them?

For that I will divide races into 4 categories: Default, Secondary, Available, and unavailable.

Default: Night Elves are the only default race for this variant class. That means if you roll a Night Elf Priest, they'd be a Priest of the Moon at level 1. Any Priest Trainer who is not a Night Elf will let you disable the variant. Class traners will generally be the go-to NPC for activating/deactivating variants.

Secondary: Worgen are the only secondary race for this variant class. They don't have it turned on by default, but they can unlock it relatively easily just by earning revered with Darnassus.

Available: All remaining Alliance races could unlock the ability to be a Priest of the Moon. This would demand much steeper requirements. Exalted with Darnassus, "Witness 3 miracles of Elune"note , and then some sort of grind/collection quest at the end. None of this is account wide. Yes a Gnome Priest of the Moon would be really weird, but I've always been of the opinion that you should be able to play a weirdo if you so choose.

Unavailable: No Horde races can become a Priest/Priestess of the Moon. That might change if there's a radical change to how factions function in WoW and not every variant class need be faction-restricted, but that's beyond the scope of this post.

So, is it allowable to converse about Warcraft III here?

Not about the remake, of course. Merely anything about Warcraft III.
