I set Same Language Dub as a redirect for now, as this trope is what it would apply to, whatever this gets renamed.
Searching for plausible mechanisms.I don't think that it's that nobody is "arsed," it's that consensus has not been reached nor alt crowner voting settled. Personally I think it's fine that it takes plenty of time and interest to get something renamed, so it doesn't happen on a whim (not nearly as much of a whim as renaming critics seem to think, anyway).
Once consensus/crowning has happened, and it still lingers in rename, that is not ideal, but lately, several volunteers have been willing to grab it and take care of effecting the rename.

Searching for plausible mechanisms."Isn't there an industry term for this?"
I am not a TV executive (or whatever) but I am pretty sure the answer is Same Language Dub.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Go ahead and make the main name Same Language Dub. Milli Vanilli now has 10 wicks, (which means that it gained 3 new wicks and only one of them was using it correctly as the trope), 2 of which are correct and one of those is an index, and 4 inbound links. There's no reason to even leave the old name as a redirect.

Done. Wicks fixed, discussion moved, link for this discussion posted, etc. I don't know how to remove the TRS link at the top of Milli Vanilli, since it is not in the page code.
And the entry now at Milli Vanilli is lame, so if someone is a fan and wants to make it better, have at.
Figure this is lock-vulnerable.

Searching for plausible mechanisms.

Isn't there an industry term for this?
ALSO: Thank you for reminding me of that crappy band. -_-
Half-Life: Dual Nature, a crossover story of reasonably sized proportions.
