Mythbusters accidentally hit house with cannon fire
Apparently, the cannonball missed the backstop water-barrels, skips off the ground, skips off a sidewalk through a house (through front door and out second floor wall) off another house's roof and into a parked minivan. They were in a army firing range, but the cannonball ended up 2 miles away.
Edit: correction

A little bit of property damage < Meeting Adam and Jamie (who came to inspect it)
Now, how long before this episode goes to air, and will it include a few minutes about this accident?

Fresh-eyed movie blog"So the Mythbusters blew up our house today. It was cool, we get to stay at M5 while their crew rebuilds it."
Fresh-eyed movie blogYeah, I misread the sign. It was a different firing range.
Doesn't the route of the cannon ball seem like a gag for a "zany comedy movie"? The bumbling dad accidentally lights the cannon, which ricochets through the neighborhood and ends up in the neighbor's car.

Watched the news report finally. While not overtly critical of the show, they did seem to have an undertone of "these morons didn't know what they were doing."
They called the experiments "wacky". They have fun at the shop, and they get kind of gleeful about controlled destruction. But there's nothing wacky about it when they're setting off explosives.
The clip they chose to show to demonstrate that they've worked with heavy artillery before is Adam playing around by juggling cannon balls and dropping them. There's lots of footage of them handling dangerous situations with care, but they go for the careless klutz image.
Finally, as soon as they finished personally inspecting the damage and making sure nobody was hurt, they immediately went back to base to talk about how to make sure this would never, ever happen again. This wasn't mentioned at all in the coverage.

Fresh-eyed movie blogI dunno. I went through a lot of Facebook comments ranting about how these untrained numbskulls finally went off half-cocked and nearly killed people.
Fresh-eyed movie blogNow I'm reminded of an uncomfortable to watch yet funny in retrospect moment from the first season, or maybe one of the pilots.
They were testing Coke myths, and Adam thought he'd test it out as a grease cleaner by smearing motor oil all over the men's room at M5. Jamie flipped. out. when he found out Adam had been making a mess in his bathroom.
Fresh-eyed movie blogThere is probably going to be a lot of Mis-blamed going on, cause the Mythbusters don't personally handle all explosions and firearms testing, they get professionals who should know what they are doing and take every precaution. What happened was a freak accident that was connected to a popular TV show.
Seriously, the cannonball went through a concrete barrier, deflected off the hillside, flew two miles into a nearby neighborhood, bounced off the sidewalk, punctured through a house and exited out the second story, ricochet off the roof of another house and ended after crashing into a minivan. Considering the water barrels it was supposed to hit, the concrete barrier and the hillside were all supposed to contain the cannonball it was obvious they didn't expect anything like THAT to happen.

I went through all the disparaging comments I could see on the article and reminded people of that. A few self-appointed artillery experts were still "any idiot knows you need a trap."
Fresh-eyed movie blogAdam tweeted yesterday that they wouldn't be including it because it wouldn't be decent.
I responded that it would be an excellent opportunity to stop and educate about the full measure of their safety practices and how mistakes even happen to the experts.
Fresh-eyed movie blogIt makes sense, it's one thing to show Tori beefing it trying to jump a bike but it is another to make an event that could have killed random people into a "wacky accident" part of the episode.
Though certainly, possibly some sort of brief web-only video of the crew explaining what happened and apologizing for it, all without any sort of voice over narration.
I think I may have to actually spend money to see the recent viewer myths episode (horrors!) All the links I can find are actually the Location special.

Ok People, we need to get every trope they havn't tested and send it to them. We should compile a list, then all send it too them.
