I get that. People were saying VEGA dies earlier. When it seems more like VEGA gets over his AI-amnesia at the final hour. If I have to guess, the DLC will probably cover what happens next in that thread, but VEGA isn't dead.

felt like sharing this

Okay so this is a the first 30 minutes of game PatologTV does and he plays it on Nightmare. Look at how he expertly does this.

Just wanted to show it isn't that problematic if you know what you're doing.

I watched the Civvie's vids. There's few things I don't agree with but still a fun video.

Here's hoping they can set up a digital event like E3 are planning.

Because I imagine they'd announce the first Doom Eternal DLC at some point.

I like Freedoom Phase 2 maps, even if some could be tweaked but the secret levels are pain.

Sure, the music is nice, especially in MAP 32: Not Sure, but the first one, MAP 31: Be Quiet is super annoying having not to alert assault tripods (cyberdemon replacements) and having to carefully telefrag most of them (and those are secrets, there's no indication you gotta shoot at walls they face) and waste ammo on one guarding the exit teleporters all while being pelted by goddamn serpentipedes (imp replacements)! The map is tiny with few rooms. It does feel cathartic when I kill them all in the end.

Second one is an absolute brutal gauntlet of monsters, every room you go to it has something annoying and overwhelming!

Then again, I'm playing UV with Fast Monsters enabled...

But yeah, I'm having fun after not bothering with it for few months now.

Hey, didn't the Doom 2 get a new megawad recently for the consoles?

As much as I like classic Doom (and Freedoom), it's just so mentally exhausting to play it. I do one or two levels or three and then stop for few hours and go back.

These old shooters are messing with me. It doesn't help I have rather bad reaction times and then the hitscanners fuck me over bad.

Doom 64 is kinda like that, just not as crazy as the old games could get. Oh it does have it smoments tho.

Once watched a video where someone combined Russian Overkill with another mod... Complex Doom? This other mod, has some of the meanest enemies in the history of FPS games.

So when you add in overpowered weapons to use against overpowered, damage sponge monsters (specifically, bosses)...it becomes a fucking disaster of biblical proportions. Like holy shit

As cool as MAP 27: Warped Elementality is, the look, the feel, the level design (mostly, you'll read why) and the kickass 8 minute track that is just so emotional to listen to, it's the part when you unlock portal to hellish caverns filled to the brim with enemies. You're on a ledge, most of the area is lava floor and on other platforms are enemies like dark soldiers (revenant replacements, they look lame like some black(as in really black)skinned elf humanoids), combat slugs (mancubus replacements) and pain lords and pain bringers (baron and hell knight replacements) and more.

Few times I died, because I try to shoot while they non-stop pelt me with their projectiles. One trick I found out is, if you did secrets and got a yellow keycard, bumrush from one interior to another larger one and you'll come across a yellow door with a teleporter that'll get you to a place with invincibility powerup. This was useful to get rid off dark soldiers and... pain elemental replacements whose name I forgot. After that, it goes smooth and just take potshots at enemies.

Of course, if I didn't have Fast Monsters enabled, it would be significantly easier but it'll feel too easy (and slow).

Here's the map in question, and for y'all to get the look and feel of Freedoom.

Oh and I love the new map for MAP 26: Dark Depths. Original one was a recycled level from Doom 2 but this new one is bigger and has cool dark interiors.

This is how it looks like

Welp, finally got back into this after going through all the levels and gathering what I'd missed. Super Gore Nest was a pain in the ass because of how mazelike it was, though I did collect everything. I'll be going back there though because I didn't clear a challenge to glory kill three Pinkys in different ways.

I like how Blood Punch just works instantly on Pinkies. Makes them way less of a pain than they were in 2016.

Too bad DS's regular punch attack is underwhelming. Then again, it was like so in classic Doom, where a punch ran on RNG. Sometimes it'd take few hits against an imp, and sometimes a dozen!

Gonna replay Freedom and I'll try out the "pistol start only" mode. Ultra-Violence with Fast Monsters enabled of course.

I wanna see how far can I make through certain levels I find absolute pain

Oh and...who got to play with the Dummied Out burst pistol?

It's actually decently powerful. The single shot alt-fire seems stronger than burst and only uses one ammo

Neat but can definitely see why it was cut, it doesn't really add anything or fulfill any niche.

I had a look at it, and while I can't afford a rig capable of playing Eternal on PC anytime soon, I can agree with comments that it's kinda redundant compared to the Heavy Cannon.

This is useful if you wanna challenge yourself to the extreme by doing pistol-only Ultra-Nightmare.

Ultra-Nightmare pistol-only speedrun. Try that

So I'm doing pistol start thing. I finish a level normally and when the "Entering Whatever Level" occurs after score screen I immediately pop up the console and type "map E#M#" with appropriate level number I'm about to enter and begin with 100hp and 50 bullets.

Needless to say, I got my ass savaged at the start of third mission and secret ninth mission.

This Is Gonna Suck is all I can describe. Every start of the level is Early Game Hell applied to a mission!

I dread getting to E 4 M 8, which contains a lot of enemies placed in inconvenient places and 4 cyberdemons or tripods on your case. The MAP 32 of Phase 2 is gonna be...nightmare with pistol start. This Is Gonna Suck + lots of deaths.

I know Freedoom ain't The Plutonia Experiment of Episode 4 but it has its own bs alright

It's been discussed but

What the hell happens in Doom Eternal's story and ending...

It feels like, while the gameplay itself is great, they went overboard trying to overhaul the franchise's storyline and reroute everything back to the original games.

The first trailer for Eternal seemed like they were just redoing Doom 2. And that was all they needed to do really. Take an old game and make it look gorgeous.

Instead, we have a sizable amount of lore that introduces angelic villains and a lot of backstory for the Doom Slayer that makes him an super soldier made by alien science. Makyrs, Sentinels, deals between the Hell dimension and the Makyrs - it's like somebody saw Warhammer 40k and said "hold my beer."

I can't say I'm fond of the new lore. The Doom Slayer being an insane Blood Knight? Great. All of this Sentinel/Makyr crap? Too much.
