Yeah because that's how they endear the piece of crap to us, make a difficulty where it's needed, just not fix its being unable to stack charges.

I actually like using it when I have the chance. Issue is when it misfires which happens rarely fortunately.

I prefer the mechanical heart artifact from the expansion pack more tho. The one if you hold it it decays your skin.

Holy shit, if it ain't broken as hell (heheh) tho.

I wish bruisers and vulgars appeared in DOOM Eternal because they're my favorite enemies from Doom 3 era

Also another issue with Doom 3 is that some of the time weapons just...don't feel like they have feedback to them. They sound pretty weaka nd it often doesn't seem to feel like I'm doing damage.

Remember the Super Shotgun in Doom 2? THAT really felt like you were doing damage. All the weapons in New Doom felt that way too.

Regular shotgun's pretty damn powerful. Problem?

Why it's the accuracy. It takes Short-Range Shotgun way too far and you have to be touching an imp to get one hit kill. I read the spread is about 22.

Super Shotgun in expansion has 25% bigger spread but far more pellets which helped me kill imps several meters away from me. It shakes the screen a lot and sounds like a cannon went off.

I hate, speaking of screen shaking, how if anything hurts you even if it deals 1 point of damage, it violently shakes the screen as if you got hit by a lead pipe on the side of the head.

At least the Super Shotgun still sounds pretty boomy. Not as crazy good as Doom 2 but still.

I still have a lot of gripes with doom 3 but at least the eatmosphere and semi-world building is pretty good. I've seen worse for sure.

Too bad its machine gun felt weak. Sounded more like I was lightly tapping the demons instead of shredding them with bullets. The chaingun was barely any better.

Barely any better? It has bigger booming sound and it deals more damage than MG one. Too bad it doesn't fire as insanely fast.

Yeh but gimme the louder, cooler New Doom chaingun anyday. I feel like I'm really toting some hardware there

Given its the 64th page of the Doom thread, it has me wondering how much of Doom 64 holds up in terms of atmosphere. Titles from the time period are a mixed bag in that regard, as for every Majora's Mask or Metal Gear Solid who's aesthetics still work in spite of the aged hardware, you have others which never quite match your memories.

Still waiting for a Legion of Losers movie...

I think its pretty unique. Although I feel Aubrey Hodges' music kinda...blurs together after a while.

It is meant to be atmospheric ambient how much I know. I love the textures especially.

Also MK, you tried any gameplay enhancing mods for Doom 3? There's bunch that rebalance.

Not tried any of those, I played Doom 3 mostly on PS 3. I'll try to look up what ones there are if they're compatible with the PC BFG Edition one. But if not I'm sure I can get original Doom 3 PC somewhere down the line.

Speaking of BFG Edition, I'll have to consider getting the Xbox 360 copy I found later.

Besides, all I'm really missing is an exclusive episode from Doom II's XBLA port. Which can be saved for a special video on my You Tube channel in the future.

I think the BFG Edition of Doom 2 has No Rest For The Living. I could be wrong tho.

There's also Doom Classic Complete if you got a PS 3. You get Final Doom and the Master Levels there too.

Shame about the PS 4 version tho. No Rest For The Living is thrown away and no Final Doom either.

Yeah, it sucks, but the only way I would experience Final Doom is on my laptop, which I think I can actually get working. As long as I can log into Steam, and turn every other program off.

Or better yet just take the internal wad files and put them in a source port.

I feel like the game drops drastically in terms of difficulty once you beat Saboath (or Sarge). Loses all tension and suspense once you reach the dig excavation. EDIT: Yes, even for the Switch port! [lol]

Doom 3 is easy even on Nightmare. Just exploit stupid AI with painfully telegraphed attacks and animations that are long. I am not exaggerating when I say there's too much ammo in the game.

Even if you empty all of your MG rounds and can't find any? You have ammo for everything else. The 312 shotgun shells thing isn't a lie and it's what you'll hover around before Hell and near the end of the game.

They really should make it more difficult. There's many mods that do. Can't Switch support mods for Doom 1, 2 & 3?

I always liked Quake IV and Prey on id Tech 4 better anyway.

Anyone ever read the Doom 3 novels? I heard some good about them and they're nothing like the Doom novel quadrilogy from the 90's

I don't think PS 4 Doom 1, 2 and 3 can support mods sadly. I fear the same goes for Switch.

Also the Doom 3 novels sound okay but I heard they changed Elliot Swann from a "get shit done" Councillor who wants this shit done properly and is willing to charge forward, into a coward so that's kinda naff.

This thread doesn't have much traffic unfortunately but that's cool.

Hey you ever attempted a speedrun on the game?

Nope, not really.

Just playing through it level-by-level.

But I am hoping to do an Ultra-Violence campaign for that game as part of my Road To Doom Eternal series.

I was trying a speedrun of Doom 1, at least for the under 2 hours trophy. I did the easiest difficulty but fuck Spawning Vats sometimes.

If you hear Midnight bragging about his speedruns, ignore him. Guy's a hack who'd stretch his videos and act as his opinions are fact.

I forgot to share this weeks ago but this made me lol

Ever wondered how Doom Slayer would do in office and rise to the top? Just to kill a demon?

I want that pencil crossbow thing in Doom Eternal!

I'll have to look out for that Midnight guy then. then again I usually just stick to whatever speedrun demo files the Doom wikis give me. Y'all ever see that video Karl Jobst did about speedrunners VS The Chasm?
