I quite like the Bechdel Test - it's not perfect, but it's a good marker. Films that didn't pass it would be fine in a universe where an equalish number of films didn't pass a Reverse Bechdel.
The second Sex and The City film (don't ask) passes just barely thanks to an incredibly shoehorned in scene where two characters talk about how motherhood is really hard even when you have live-in nannies and all the money.
Now I've got this image of Robin's secret childhood love affair with Mr. T. - Idler 20The Bechdel Test should only be a measure of the ratio of movies with and without two women having conversations about things other than men. However, people invest too much into it. "Oh X didn't/barely passed, all female characters in there are bad and terrible, duh." It's funny to see the discussions for Twilight. Oh, it passes, but you should the the bitch fits. There are so many technicalities why a film didn't/did pass, or it did pass, but it's horrible because a female was the villain therefore it never actually passed. Bechdel Test =/= feminism, Bechdel Test =/= well-rounded female character. There a site dedicated to recording films and which did/did not pass.

I agree.
Like, Inception was a good movie, but it only had two female characters, one of which didn't exist outside the mind of a male character. That would be fine in and of itself (not all movies need to be about women or have equal numbers of men and women), but within the context of women not being that well represented across all media it is an interesting thing to note.
It was still a good movie, though. If you only watched movies that passed the test, you wouldn't watch many at all. Including many that have good representations of women but just fail for other reasons (ie not enough human characters, not enough characters, etc).

Now I've got this image of Robin's secret childhood love affair with Mr. T. - Idler 20For some reason I'm wondering why AU wanted to take pictures of Target.
Maybe my need to photograph mundane things has rubbed off on him.
