So... Is there a chance this corruption mechanic might in fact allow you to switch sides?
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntUnknown. It has been noted that some characters will react differently to you depending on your Corruption level, but whether this will result in actual faction change during the campaign is not known-you might simply be forced to fight other Blood Ravens sent to confront you.
It could be used to set up Multiple Endings.
Plus, the hero list looks sweet.
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeWhat DOW 2 should have: - more mod friendlyness - a proper singleplayer campaign - more tactical dreadnought armors. Terminators FTW!!!!
I still wait for the Necrons, despite the fact that they'll probably have only one commander.
This is this.Some new info:
Librarian is confirmed as new Space Marine hero.
Corruption mechanic affects heroes as well in the campaign-abilities your characters have can change depending on their level of corruption, including bonuses for being absolutely pure and absolutely corrupt. Examples given for two ends of the spectrum are holy Thaddeus, who is filled with holy rage and deals extra damage against demons, and lost Tarkus, who has apparently become a follower of Nurgle-he loses Tactical Advance and instead gains a Plague Aura, suppressing foes near him and dealing poison damage.
Whoa. Templar!Thaddeus finally?
Looks like FC and his bad band of brothers are returning.
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeIndeed-at the least, all the party members from Do W 2 are carrying over, complete with their wargear and levels.
Also, there are two special pieces of wargear available for 0% Corruption and 100%-a special sword and a special set of armor. Don't remember their stats off the top of my head, but they are both very powerful.
Near as I can tell, you start with a certain amount of corruption, and can go either way, with rewards for going to either extreme.
Also hoping for Multiple Endings - with the best one not getting corrupted, of course.
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeAnd the last few tidbits I've scraped up:
It looks like Administrator Derosa will be returning, but her significance is unknown.
Farseer Idranel is also hinted to have somehow survived.
The Librarian will be a campaign character. He's a spellcaster able to equip psychic hoods, tomes, and relics. No word on who the Librarian will be or what he'll be like, though.
Tested Avitus is an example of a character who's tainted but leaning towards pure-he gains Battle Lust, slowing energy regen but gaining health and energy with every kill.
Tainted Force Commander is tainted but not yet completely fallen, and gains the skill Cower Before Me, inflicting massive knockback and reducing enemy damage output.
Lost Tarkus' Plague Aura was incorrect when I reported it-it gains him immunity to suppression, drastically reduces incoming damage, and deals poison damage to nearby foes.
However, Purity grants increasingly hefty damage bonuses against Chaos foes...
The daemonhammer will appear somewhere, I hope...
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeWhat, no talk of The Last Stand update that's due for tomorrow?
What's gonna happen?
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeSome new tidbits:
Last Stand is only the beginning of new modes.
Multiple endings confirmed.
Yes, bosses will be returning.
Obviously with a mechanic that would change your characters outcome Multiple Endings are expected.
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeThe Last Stand's in an update that came out today - it's a multiplayer mode where you have yourself and two other players who fight up to 20 waves of enemies with (so far, at least) an Eldar Farseer, Space Marine Captain or Ork Mekboy. You may choose any of them, and there are no requirements in what you have to choose. They all can level up after matches are done to give you new wargear which'll do... lots of stuff, it depends.
You may choose any one of the heroes for each match, and they all have a different exp bar for themselves. They only level up after a match and you don't have a growing exp bar on your character while in the match.
So it's a hero defense mode.
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeI like your conciseness.
But it has persistency!
Screw the deamonhammer...I want a nemessis force two-handed sword :D
Oh good, someone else needs a two-handed sword to be satisfied with Warhammer 40 K weaponry. It being a Nemesis Force weapon would also be awesome.
And it being in the hands of a Super-Soldier would make it even more awesome.
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeReally, that's the point of SpaceMarines in general (as we all know).
Good God, the Last Stand mode is awesome. I'm rolling a shooty, teleporty ork (WITH LANDMINES!), basically aping my buddy's bro and he's blowing shit up pretty nicely. And I'm too (especially when you have a jumpy CC Marine to take care of the Eldar Weapon Platforms).
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisI'm currently playing Winter Assault... And oh gods the fourth Disorder mission is hard. I managed to finish it once with Chaos by spamming Horrors at the land raider before spawning one right at the door, but I don't manage anything with Orks...
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."
Yes, Chaos Rising is slated to include a Corruption mechanic-you gain corruption by wearing tainted wargear or by doing certain things during mission, like blowing open the gate to an occupied chapel rather than the riskier method of deploying forces to jump over it. Relic hasn't said it outright, but there are heavy implications of a fourth commander being added to each faction. From the rumor mills, here seems to be the consensus on guessing the commanders:
Chaos: Chaos Lord (Khornate) Arch Heretic (Slaanesh) Sorcerer (Tzeentch) Great Unclean One (Nurgle)
Eldar: Autarch Space Marines: Librarian Orks: Painboss Tyranids: Broodlord
