I wish I had nicktoons....

I just realized something funny about my last post — in Sailor Moon, the filler was usually at least related to the story arcs. Lots of Buffy episodes featured threats completely unrelated to the big bad of the season.

It seems that its doing well:

"Nicktoons also posted its highest-rated and most-watched May with total viewers (+18%), K6-11 (+33% in rating), B6-11 (+27% in delivery), T9-14 (+32% in delivery) and B9-14 (+25% in rating). Nicktoons record-setting performance was driven by the premiere of Dragon Ball Z Kai(Monday, May 24, 8–9 p.m. ET), which set a new record as the highest-rated series premiere in the network’s history with total viewers, T9-14 and B9-14"

I like his old one better.

This is still a signature.

Okay, I'm getting sick of people here complaining about the lack of filler. If you want filler, go watch the original DBZ. Kai is meant to be DBZ's main storyline without the filler, more true to the manga in that regard. You don't have to like it better than the original anime but it's not trying to be. It's just offering a different DBZ experience is all.

And again, there were alot of bad filler in DBZ too. Nicktoons is just now airing the Namek/Freeza saga, and from what I can tell that story was infinitely better done in Kai than in Z. Seriously, name one filler from this saga that you're going to miss. And yes, that includes stuff during the longest 5 minutes ever. tongue

As for Freeza's new voice, I think we haven't even begun to hear what Chris Ayere's could be capable of when voicing this character. Right now it sounds like a male version of the Ocean dubs' Freeza, but by next week I'm sure it'll become something else. And with an accurate script, this could well be the definitive English Freeza.

^ I loved Linda Young as Freeza back in the day, but Linda really lost her touch with voicing him past Season 4. Which is mostly why I'm glad someone else is doing it now. The fact that it's actually a guy is a pleasent bonus. cool

I, too, am looking forward to how Chris will do as Freeza.

Freeza's New Voice Clip #2

Plus 2 re-cast of Freeza's friends on Kai~!! John Swasey as Dodoria J. Michael Tatum as Zarbon

I thought Zarbon sounded a bit more similar to Kyoya this time (ANN still listed Chris Sabat as his VA).

DAMN, Freeza is sounding better and better all the time and the new Zarbon sounds similar to how Chris Sabat voiced him in the Bardock special; fancy, narcisistic, but competent as opposed to the silly gay voice he's had for awhile now.

Dodoria, however, now sounds exactly like the Ocean Dub's Dodoria. Which is odd, because they previous Dodoria sounded more like the Japanese version. But both ways work for me. cool

Jeice is the only voice I'm iffy on. It sounds unnesicarilly high. Why couldn't Sabat have just stuck to voicing him; he did it well in the Uncut Z Redub.

But the others sound good; Sabat has (THANK KAMI!) gone back to square one with voicing Reecoome so that he no longer sounds Austrian, dumb, or retarded. He'll make Reecoome sound the way he should. Vic Mignogna should make an excellent Burter, Greg Ayre's high-pitched take on Guldo should work well, and Ginyu's "General Patton" style voice sounds better than Funimation's previous voices for him, though to me, nothing will ever top the original dub Ginyu, Richard Newman. (Part of me's actually a bit dissapointed that Brice Armstrong didn't come back to voice Ginyu right this time. He could've dead on matched Newman's Ginyu but used that growly military instructor voice instead.)

That...wasn't him. It was J Michael Tatum.o_o

^ Sabat has been Jeice for a long time now, including the uncut redub. Perhaps you're getting it confused with Spice, Garlic Jr's henchman. Tatum voiced him in the remastered dub.

Just saw the full episode 29. Jeice's voice actually sounds great. I'll always love the Ocean dub voices for the Ginyu Force best, but this new Ginyu Force voice cast is better than Funimation's previous one (which consisted of two guys and Chris Sabat tongue).

And Chris Ayres' Freeza continues to sound awesome. Just had to say that. cool

I actually kinda liked Guldo's voice. He managed to sound appropriately panicky, cocky, and just plain weird at the same time.

I have a message from another time...

everyone should be facepalming, im as hardcore of a dbz fan as the next, but this has gone too far, why make a cut down version of dbz? i loved watching the whole thing, i dont want to see goku enter a battle, then throw a super kamehameha and the battle be over, wheres the action? and if the next generation wants to watch dbz they can watch the same ones i did, just like i did with gilligans island, the whole thing seems ridiculous i mean, your going to edit a show, that has been editted not once, but many times already, including and at least 6 games i can name off the top of my head that followed the same story, if they were going to make another dbz it could have been after gt with goku jr. and vegeta jr. or, even gokus teen years, if they were going to edit anything it should have been the evolution movie, that one kinda sucked
