Hmm. I hate to be that guy that complains about one english translation being weaker then another - such is the nature of translation sometimes, especially in an english dub where they have to time to the mouth flaps - but I don't like Pedro's line he heard from Roger and passed on to Carrot as much. "Everyone has their turn. Someday you'll have your turn too." was such a cool line to me, but in the dub its "Everyone will have a time where its their moment to shine." Again, its a minor thing, ultimately a nitpicky thing, logically I know that. But it just doesn't grab me quite as well.
And so passes Pedro. He died to lay the foundation for The Dawn.
And then, so begins Luffy's toughest battle since the time skip; Luffy vs. Katakuri!
Pedro is, as far as I know, the only character last seen in a No One Could Survive That! situation to be explicitly declared dead by the Vivre Card databook. Go figure.

There's a You Tuber named Straw Hat Jedi who managed to calculate the frequency of characters appearing in each chapter from Chapters 1-1000 and it's rather interesting:
Law is apparently the character the non-Straw Hat who appeared in the most chapter, which can be indicative of how relevant he has been in the story, but there's also Kinemon who was more or less a mainstay from 2012-2022. They've both had more chapters than Vivi too, even though Vivi is more often considered a Straw Hat than they are. Also of note is Hatchan, who went from being a minor lackey in Arlong Park to having arguably larger roles in Sabaody and Fish-Man Island.
I've finally come full circle. To the episode where I started following the anime week to week. Incidentally, have I mentioned before how much I love "Super Powers?" One of my favorite openings, it was my favorite of the post time skip era until "Dreamin' On" came along.
Didn't expect another musical number in the midst of all this chaos. And Charlotte Praline's voice actress (Sara Ragsdale, according to the character pages here) turns out to be a damn good singer.
Lovesick Pudding is hilarious. Jill Harris does a great job with both the cute and evil sides of her character.
If I may be so bold.
There’s something I’ve wanted to say in regards how I’ve seen evidence treated in One Piece, and that’s how when people in general are like “we should go by what the manga says” or “what a character says”, but then proceed to cherrypick all that in such a way that there are no examples left except ones that revolve around one person’s point of view, then I feel that just makes conversations more complicated. Whether it’s over things like Zoro vs. Sanji, what Luffy’s overall dream is or isn’t, if emperors or admirals are better, Yamato, or how Monster Trio will always make Jinbe a “lesser” character.
This is isn’t to say that one should go against the most established of facts as much as possible, but if anything, allow for a flexibility of the benefit of the doubt where the evidence truly allows, even if it doesn’t perfectly and personally fit when peoples’ own worldview. If people are so quick to deny “word of god” and promote “death of the author” and promote the latter many, many times in conversation, repeating the notion of “this doesn’t count, this doesn’t count,” then what narrative can that honestly start to look like?
I admit I was kinda scared in making this post for fear of being lambasted, as if being a bad person who’s guilty until proven innocent, but I felt the need to say it since I care about One Piece and how others should be able to enjoy it however they please even if it doesn’t conform with how every other person enjoys it.
So if I could offer any words of encouragement to help make some silent One Piece fan out there feel better and what not, I’ll say that you should feel free to believe anything you want, and be at your best when believing in it.
I’m really sorry you feel that way. If it makes you feel any better, I sincerely believed Mihawk being Emperor-level was Early-Installment Weirdness for a long time, and even when I tried to frame my views as rationally as possible, people on other sites always ragged on me.
There is a possibility this is not another continuation of the Yamato issue. I won't deny that. Yamato is mentioned, but only as one out of five examples. However,
Do you at least understand how your track record exhausted good faith? Your otherwise motivational speech reads suspiciously because of, and only because of, precedent.
If this really is a way to bring up the Yamato issue again; please stop. There has already been countless arguments over this and the wiki has resolved on a solution via crowner. Once again, if there's new information that's significant enough to revisit the decision, we can do that. For right now, let's just leave the situation alone.

Macron's notesI remember some discourse when Whole Cake Island originally finished. In hyping up the arc, someone at Shueisha (Oda's editor at the time? I don't think it was Oda himself, but I may be wrong, I'm not sure who) had talked about how massive it would be for Sanji. But then when the arc ended, a lot of people were upset that Sanji didn't get a fight.
Having experienced the whole thing now, I can't help but think... I don't care? Like, sure, it would've been cool if Sanji kicked Oven's ass, but (and I think I've said this before) I think its stupid to only value characters in terms of how many fights or wins they've had. For Sanji the arc was about Confronting his past with his family and reaffirming that, for all of how silly his love for people and in particular women is often portrayed, its one of the things that makes him special. The simping can be annoying, but the passion and kindness IS an important part of his character, its what lets him turn Pudding around. (And considering Pudding's current status, I don't think we've seen the last of that dynamic).
Having said all that, If anyone here did feel disappointed with that, did Sanji's story in Wano and face off with Queen, which really is a continuation building off of his stuff in Whole Cake, help make Whole Cake any better in retrospect?

Ironically I agree and sorta not. I agree in that I could not have reacted with more apathy to the Sanji stuff sans some really outstanding stuff here and there, but it was the point where the anime truly improved to actually elevate the material. And I know it to the point of certainty that once you reach the episode that aired last week you will come to see the arc in a new light and appreciate it way more. Because it is that good and it finally had the payoff I didnt even know I wanted.

As long as this flower is in my heart. My Strength will flow without end.Still waiting for Katakuri to show up. I really wanna get this band aid ripped off as soon as possible. I need to know if I like him so I can finally sleep at night.
My reccomended feed is full of videos calling him the best villain in One Piece.
