So, how did y'all first get into One Piece?
Back in the day, I barely knew what One Piece was. I caught a few episodes of the 4Kids dub but never stuck with it (to be fair, I think it was less to do with being a terrible version, and more that I just wasn't getting up for Saturday morning cartoons by that point anymore). After that it mostly faded from my mind. For a long time the only things I knew about One Piece was "a guy made of rubber" and "Nami is sexy"... And the second one had more to do with Nami herself then One Piece.
Later, there was Funimation's version I stumbled upon a couple times while it was on Toonami back in the day. I think it was only twice or so. One I distinctly remember being the roller derby filler during the Davy Back Fight arc, and the other I think was the first recap episode after "I want to live!" I missed out on what would've been an incredible jumping on point by just one or two episodes!
But yeah, didn't keep with it then, either.
When I finally did start on One Piece was a few years later. I had started getting into trying to purchase more anime, and had recently finished buying all the box sets of Dragon Ball and DBZ. I found a few smaller shows in this time, but while thinking "Well, what's the next big thing to try?" And glossing over the, uh, details you can't talk about here, I eventually stumbled on One Piece again. By this point I had long since known how terrible the 4 Kids version's reputation was, but also knew that Funimation had taken over at some point, so I decided to try it. Started watching.. And kept watching.. and watching... It was around the Baratie arc and Arlong Park, and more specifically Zoro and Mihawk's fight and then THE WALK, was what cemented for me "Oh yeah. This is the one. This is the kind of anime I've been looking for." And a short time later I started buying up DV Ds and investing fully.
I read it a lot on Mangastream because that's where I read Naruto. I knew of it from toonami, but wasn't really enthralled by it, but reading it online hooked me. In hindsight their translations ran afoul of Spicing Up The Subtitles, but the scanlation quality was good. I had lost touch with it, but I recently got caught up to speed. Wano is a fantastic arc. I feel like the tension and Serial Escalation just really makes it satisfying.
You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midI remember that I caugt a few One Piece episodes, around Little garden and Drum on German tv back then, I liked them fine but they didnt really stick with me beyond that I really liked the theme song.
A few months later my older sister came back from school with the manga volumes of the entire Alabasta arc she had borrowed and told me I should read them. We both were huge fans of the series for years after that, bought all the volumes and started watching the anime subbed.
Unfortunately my sister dropped off the anime around Fishman Island and soon after the series as a whole when she started studying.
But I kept up with the manga online weekly since around 2015 and sometimes when I meet my sister nowadays she does still ask me if anything interesting happened recently in One Piece.
I first read One Piece in the U.S. edition of Shonen Jump back in 2005.
He/His/Him. No matter who you are, always Be Yourself. My first one was when Zoro, Usopp and Johnny enter Arlong Park.
He/His/Him. No matter who you are, always Be Yourself.I have a fun forum activity question for you guys! Name iconic anime moments that either didnt exist or were downplayed in the manga. I heard the walk to Arlong Park wasnt a thing in the manga.

As long as this flower is in my heart. My Strength will flow without end.I first read the first couple of arcs (I think I stopped at or around Syrup Village.) back in high school, but I didn't really care for it a to reft the time (This would've been around 2008-2010 and while I was a fan of Naruto and Bleach I didn't think One Piece was as good as either of them. Naruto and Ichigo were cool, but Luffy's design and powers weren't. Which is still true even today, but the rest of the manga more than makes up for that.).
I didn't really get into One Piece until last year. A Cardfight Vanguard Youtuber started posting a lot about One Piece on her Twitter and Yamato's design caught my interest as did all the talk about how hype Wano was. Like I saw a lot of Twitter post that were hyping up Wano and talking about how One Piece is a quick read despite the amount of chapters. Eventually I gave in to curiousity about Yamato and began my readthrough of the manga. At the time I started reading Chapter 1025 had just come out and I caught up either the same day we got the fan translation of 1036 or slightly before.
Hmm... I think I first read 10 first volumes back in 7th grade, then started watch anime 'til I caught up to beginnings of Thriller Bark. After that, I started read manga and caught up to beginnings of Sabaody Archipelago. After that, I started to read manga and watch anime weekly, 'til 2013-2014, where I stopped watching anime and focused more on manga.
I assure you, I'm perfectly trustable person![]()

Came up with... a lot, actually. I tried to add page breaks to make it more readable.
Wano just recently actually showed us some of the fight between Carrot and Perospero (Wanda too, but she gets taken out pretty quick) and it was really cool, and even depicted Sulong Carrot as having a fighting chance before the Sulong form was negated. So that's a really cool one.

PushoverMediaCritic recently clued me in that Nami standing up to Cracker alone for awhile during Whole Cake Island was. Not a whole lot happens there, but it is still pretty cool and I do like it.

Oh, here's an interesting one. In One Piece movie... 9, I believe? The one that's the retelling of Alabasta. Its a small addition, but Luffy has Vivi hold onto his hat after he returns to save her from Crocodile. I appreciated that one a lot.
—
And speaking of retellings; Another small one, but in Episode of East Blue, as a result of condensing events, Nami gets to be alongside Luffy and Zoro during Syrup Village when they show up to stop the advance of the Black Cat Pirates. And the way its cut, you get to say that Nami was involved in that asskicking.

As someone who likes the Davy Back Fight as the fun little Breather Episode that it is, I have a soft spot for the roller derby game the anime added. Also gives some additional Robin moments, so that's always a plus.
As for a scene that was in the manga but I think the anime made more epic... Well, first the obvious: Any episode Megumi Ishitani has her hands on. She can do info dumps, dance parties, imagine spots, and high-octane attacks all so beautifully. (Oh, and making Yamato and Ace adorable. She excelled at that, too)

The Going Merry's funeral. With the music and voice acting, it just hits hard, even on rewatch.
—
I think Luffy's speech to the prisoners in Udon during Wano. (Ah, for awhile there I even had memorized what episode number it was, but I just had to look it up. Episode 949). The music (which I had recognized but for the longest time couldn't place where I'd heard it; Its from Nami's "Luffy... help me" scene in Episode of East Blue), the strain in Luffy's voice, just that entire scene was perfect, to me.
Plus, its just a badass moment anyway; Luffy's always been the guy who inspires people by his actions and will - he does have a way of telling people what they need to hear to rally them, but its usually on a personal level, and someone he's known for awhile already. Here, he's a complete stranger and speaking to a crowd - even if accidentally, this is the first time Luffy is leader to a mass of people.
(I actually am a little nervous about how it'll be in the English dub. I'm not one of those people who hates on Colleen's Luffy voice, I mentioned my thoughts just a couple pages ago. I think she does a great job. And especially for the big moments, usually she is ON. The above Going Merry funeral? She nails it. Yelling to Sanji that he can't be King of the Pirates without him? Wonderful. I don't mean she can't do it, clearly she can, I just mean its become one of my favorite scenes in the story)

I watched the anime on 4-Kids, kept up with it via wiki a little, actually started reading the manga around when Luffy gets poisoned by Magellan via Youtube.
Hugging a Vanillite will give you frostbite.

Hiyori's hair kinda looked like Enel's earlobes. It was a crackpot theory that didn't really make sense (one obvious reason being that Enel is almost as tall as Kin'emon, while the shadowy figure is average height), but it was funny.
