Imagine being beaten black-and-blue by a hot lady and not getting hard.

Alright. Time for an absolute zinger of a pun....
<Sees both PMC and Yakuza already pointed it out>
Dammit!
One Strip! One Strip! You say that like I wasn't already 100% aware of what I was suggesting with that particular phrasing.

I only have your word for it.
I'm allowed to doubt.
It's the god given right of everyone on the internet to invoke Death of the Author on everyone else.
That's why it's such a wondrous place.
One Strip! One Strip! But selective reading I guess.
That's not selective reading. I know it's meant to be a positive trait, but it's not a positive trait and no about of bullshitting from Oda will make that the case.
This chapter's double spreads kicked ass.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."And no amount of complaining about it is going to change Oda's mind so...
It's like complaining about the sky being blue.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I honestly wonder what Sanji would have done if for example Smoothie had captured him and demanded Nico Robin. Would he still called for her, or what would he have done?
Oda may portray it as a positive trait, but I think it's a really negative one and it's bad that Sanji's attitude is never really challenged.
Obligatory: the Robin fight is here! It's finally, finally here!
I really like the Black Maria "topless back" panel; it's surely for fanservice, but that doesn't detract for it being badass.
Into the UnknownSanji's attitude has been challenged in WCI, but the point of that arc was for Sanji to not change and shows his qualities (mainly cooking and chivalry with women). Although Sanji has developed a bit, since now he considers Robin, a woman, able to fight and not simply someone who needs to be saved and protected. So, yeah, if he couldn't have way to escape, Sanji would've called Robin even against Smoothie

There isn't an impossible dream, there are only people who give upSo where is the real Robin? And did Brook know a Robin clone would show up there? Did they coordinate?
The sad, REAL American dichotomyIn what way was attitude with women challenged? And if Sanji had called for help against Smoothie, I would have lost the last ounce of respect I had for him. He would have essentially sent Robin to her death because of his own code. He puts his own code above the mission or goals of his allies.
Sanji doesn't now consider women being able to fight. That's not something new. Or else he would have protested that Nami would fight in Enis Loby or Alabasta. I can't even say for sure if he genuinely thinks women are able to fight, or it's a loop because it's a woman fighting against a woman and not a woman fighting against a man.

I just think its missing the point to try and come up with scenarios to make Sanji's attitude seem like a negative. WCI is literally a giant neon-sign saying "Sanji is fine the way he is, and doesn't need to change" and some people will still complain about his attitude.
He knows he can't do shit against women, and the Strawhats know that, and Robin appreciated that he's willing to swallow his pride and rely on her.
You don't have to like it, but at least acknowledge what the story is saying. This always comes up when it comes to Sanji, as if people are expecting a different result.
Thats not a clone is it?

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I acknowledge it and voice my reasons why I disagree with the story and think that it's bad.
Saying Sanji priorities his code over the wellbeing of his crewmates is pretty blatantly false.
And like, one of the running themes of the series is sticking to your principles no matter what. So why is it a problem when Sanji does it and literally nobody else.
Edited by BlackYakuzu94 on Feb 28th 2021 at 4:14:04 AM
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Because that's not true. He risked the mission, and thus the safety of his allies, because he let himself beat up by Maria. And as I said, there's a strong possibility that he would have called Robin if it were someone like Smoothie, whom Robin could never defeat.
And let's not forget his bout with Kalifa where he actually jeopardized Robin's life because of his code. It was a stroke of luck, or rather Oda going out of his way, that Sanji's attitude didn't lead to massive problems.
Also, Zoro for example swallowed his pride when he asked for Mihawk to train him. He basically put Luffy above himself.
Actually, yes, it is the first time Sanji does calls for a woman to help and save him, while previously he tended to not put them in danger and intervenes in the fight if he could. And I don't see why calling Robin against Smoothie would be sending her to death (and in case it was certain death for Robin, Sanji would've rather died instead, that seems pretty obvious after reading 1004 chapters) while against Black Maria isn't. It seems to me that you're behaving exactly like Black Maria's subordinates
As if Sanji didn't spend 2 years in (his) hell for Luffy...

There isn't an impossible dream, there are only people who give upYou were the one who said that he would. And sending Robin to Smoothie, even if it didn't end up in her death, would cause her a lot of harm, possibly even torture.
And if he let himself get killed, then the Wano alliance lost one of their strongest fighters, which may irreversibly tilt the tiles in Kaido's favor.
Sanji stayed there more because of the recipes.
Edited by bandersnitch on Feb 28th 2021 at 1:25:13 AM
This whole chapter and the last one, outright spells out that Sanji trusts Robin to be able to take care of herself, and half of the time skip is about how the Strawhats learning how to get stronger.
So you're essentially saying that none of the Strawhats can't take care of themselves or handle themselves in a fight.
You're talking about what ifs and should ifs instead of what's actually happening in the story, simply because its not to your specific liking. That's what I mean by ignoring what the story is saying, simply you don't agree with it.
That's why I hate seeing this subject constantly pop up, because there's no conversation worth having about this if all you're gonna say is "I hate this story direction and it should have happened this way".

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. And Sanji wanted the recipes to help Luffy, so, just like Zoro, he put Luffy above himself, it's not that hard doing 2+2, damnit
And you're really jumping to a lot of conclusions like that Smoothie would hurt Robin (which, yeah, it's likely, but it's a fight, it happens) or even torture or that Sanji's death would tilt in favor of Kaido, solely to support your claims
Same, if you simply don't like it, it's ok and I can't say you have to like it even if I disagree
Edited by fishysaur on Feb 28th 2021 at 10:33:11 AM
There isn't an impossible dream, there are only people who give upIf you just hate Sanji's refusal to hit women for personal reasons, then just say that. I'd understand that a lot better than this backwards logic of trying shoehorn scenarios and talk about things that haven't actually happened, just to make yourself sound justified.
Like yo, just say you hate it and keep it moving, I don't need a justification on why you hate something.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I do kinda hate Sanji's refusal to hit women.
It should be a flaw, but the plot won't treat it like that, and will always come up with ways for it to not completely sink the group.
Plus, it's just a dumb attitude to have in general.
I will accept that Sanji's decision to call for help here is a sign of respect to Robin (he trusts in her ability to deal with Maria and sees her as something more than someone to be protected) but that vicious part of me still wants to see him refuse to hit a woman and pay an absolutely brutal price for it as punishment for his stupidity.
One Strip! One Strip!I remember all the way back when the Strawhats first encountered Robin at the end of Whiskey Peak and Sanji actually aimed a flintlock at her head. Hard to picture post-timeskip Sanji doing the same thing.
Anyway, there's some speculation that the figure with the Scabbards might actually be Toki.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.
I know, right? Man's taking a beating and can't get hard, so he's gone soft.
EDIT: Of fucking course this would be the page-topper.
