Its amusing how American comic adaptions fare better than Japanese.
I mean Netflix just released The Umbrella Academy & that's like greatly received.
The sci-fi channel made a live-action show of the Deadly Class comic & it looks very faithful & good.
Again its funny how even back in their home, manga live-action adaptions are very hit or miss.
As far as Japanese adaptations go, I heard that the Jojo Part 4 movie was actually pretty good. I know people hated the Attack on Titan films. I've heard good things about the Rurouni Kenshin adaptation, but I don't think that's recent.
I've also heard quite a few interesting things from Sailor Moon when it was adapted into a live-action series in Japan.

Last Ruroni Kenshin film was 2014 so 5 years ago & yes they were good.
Other live-action stuff, the Terraformas movie which bombed.
Though the very recent Gintama ones are a smash hit.

While the English cast of Episode of Sabo has just been announced, it might be interesting to see how the live-action adaptation's pre-production and inevitable production is being handled. After all, I'm sure Tomorrow Studios is probably Doing It for the Art.
The visual effects for the adaptation might include explosions (including Mr. 5's Bomb-Bomb Fruit powers), miniature effects (such as Arlong Park), computer-generated ships (like the Going Merry, etc.) and locations, fire effects (such as Usopp's Fire Star or Ace's Flame-Flame Fruit powers), rotoscoping, water and snow effects (such as the rain for Alabasta, the Bubble-Bubble Fruit powers and snow for Drum Island), digital compositing, matte paintings, and CGI/motion capture for some characters like the fishmen, Brook (if the series does get to that point) and/or some animals like Suu or Gonbe. I'm also guessing that there might be cameo appearances from the English voice actors and its staff members (both from Funimation's dub and the staff of the live-action series). But I could be wrong, like I said.

Let's just assume that season 1 will just cover the East Blue for now.
Very well. Anyway, for the adaptation's potential visual effects in the East Blue storyline, there could be motion capture or prosthetics for the Fishmen. CGI animation and/or practical effects might be used for Devil Fruit powers. When Shanks loses his arm, it might also be digitally composited and the actor's left arm would be chroma keyed. For Arlong Park's destruction, it might also include practical effects such as a scale model as well as CGI animation. One possible example of a bluescreen/greenscreen effect is the scenes where Luffy and his crew are sailing out into the ocean in addition to a water tank. Scale models of pirate/marine ships like the Going Merry as well as those of the Baratie and Arlong Park might also be used in addition to real-life filming locations.

Here's a crazy idea that they really shouldn't do but I would have mad respect if they attempted: start at the time-skip.
The Blade of the Immortal live action movie was great.
IIRC the producer (who also produced Prison Break and Teen Wolf) said they were starting from East Blue.
Okay who expected the World Seeker game to be bad?
Cause reviews are out & they are already negative to middling.
I can't say I expected it, since I'm not sure I've even heard of the game. I can't say I'm surprised though.
It looked bad from the start, but the more recent trailers showed a bit of promise, so it's a little disappointing.
Yep, and the relevant link can be found here: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2017-12-17/live-action-hollywood-one-piece-tv-series-will-start-with-east-blue-arc/.125396
Now then, for the adaptation's sound effects, maybe the Wilhelm scream can appear in some episodes akin to Star Wars or even The Lord of the Rings (such as when the villagers flee from Arlong Park's destruction, when a pirate gets knocked off the ship by Luffy's attacks, and so on). Ben Burtt or one of the folks at Skywalker Sound like Matthew Wood or Gary Rydstrom might also be involved as sound designers. Oh and another thing, I'm guessing that Gold Roger could be portrayed by a veteran actor (such as Geoffrey Rush), as could Shanks (such as Liam Neeson or Ewan McGregor). As usual, it's speculation; like I said, I could be wrong.

x4 - Shame about World Seeker. Game Informer had a blurb about it last month, noting that the open world gameplay was likely a way of appealing to the Western audience One Piece keeps missing out on for reasons well documented. Can’t do that if the product is junk. At least Jump Force had a few memes to laugh at.
I think this is why I keep babbling about the LA show TBH. Because it represents probably the last chance to make the show mainstream, not even thinking of the institution the show is in Japan. And it just happens to be one hell of a Hail Mary.

Has there ever been a good One Piece game? I tried their Musou game once... mmmeeh
I've read pretty good things about older adventure games, can't remember their names though...
I liked Grand Adventure for the most part, even though the gameplay isn't the greatest and the 4kids voices are... ehhhh...
Just stop being you.
We just had an entire arc partially dedicated to re-establishing who Sanji is. For better or worse, that ain't changing at this point.
The last page or so is a bit unclear to me, is Zoro the one saying that he returned Shusui to its rightful place?
My respect for Hawkins just increased.
Also Luffy using Conqueror’s Haki never stops being cool.
Didn't expect that from Drake. On the one hand, not really into Nami being used like that, on the other, it was actually kind of funny how even all the women got starry-eyed and nosebleed.

The official simulpub from Viz comes this Sunday FYI. And next Sunday (the 24th) is chapter 937. As such, has anyone got predictions or theories for what will happen?
Well, they lost the most beautiful woman in Wano, so Nami would be considered the next best thing.
