Maybe it's all an acid trip.

You're looking for Kirby Canvas Curse.

Maybe, maybe not. At least in theory we're the Periphery Demographic. The majority of the players will be too young to remember the earlier games.

I dunno. I think Kirby's always been a kind of "all ages" series, even if it is a bit on the easier side. Well. Some of them. Hello, Extra Mode! So good to see you again!

I really don't have a clue how anybody can 100% Canvas Curse. That game is hard.

Hands-on impressions from Nintendolife.

While Kirby has seemingly lost the ability to inhale enemies and absorb their unique powers, he does have a brand new set of abilities, from floating around as a parachute to turning into a small honking car to run through the level on wheels.

So it's official then. No copy abilities, and no inhaling. Kinda sad to see Kirby's trademark gone, but I think it's more than made up for by the unique art style.

Awesomely random and randomly awesome. My anime list.

If there's no copying, then I'm curious to see how Kirby will turn into stuff like this: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] Powerups, maybe?
If you'll notice, all of those powers have an extra color.

No it doesn't, the "unique art style" doesn't make up for removing core gameplay elements.

Kirby still has powers, and he still turns enemies into projectiles. To me, the difference from inhaling is purely academic.

Just because it's different doesn't mean it will automatically suck. Again, I bring up the case of Canvas Curse, which was wickedly different and also wickedly awesome.

But it wasn't billed as a typical Kirby game, there's other franchises this would've worked better with.

I'm not too liking the seeming lack of copy abilities, as even Canvas Curse and Kirbys Dream Course has it, but I'm still quite looking forward to this game and I think it'll likely be very good.

I'm not too shaken up, considering this is pretty much a Paper Mario-esque spinoff anyway.

A damn good one, if the trailer is anything to go by.

Are you not entertained?

Have you guys ever tried going through some of the Kirby games with nothing but the suck and spit? It's actually quite enjoyable all on its own. Gets better with the multiple tosses of the grappling abilities, but generally, the only downside is not being able to move fast with an enemy in your mouth, though this game looks like Kirby retains his ability to move quite effectively.

The emotions of others can seem like such well guarded mysteries, people 8egin to 8elieve that's how their own emotions should 8e treated.

From the trailer alone, I'd say it's definitely not being billed as a traditional Kirby game.

And I went through 64 with mostly just the suck, spit, and enemy hold + throw abilities. I only brought in others where necessary. Pretty fun.

That still doesn't mean every single Kirby player wants to play that way. It's like playing through Mega Man without using any of the weapons - yes, a lot of people do it, and I still think every single one is missing the entire point of the game.
