I want to see her face damnit. For all we know she's got a hare-lip or a lazy eye. Or maybe even a burn scar over one eye.

Edit: Sorry completely ninja'd on that one.

^Depends on your taste, but that's probably not what she looked like when she was old. I don't think the spirit always looks like the person when they die; Kuruk and Yangchen didn't look very old.

Maybe Roku just wanted to look all wise, but the other avatars went for vanity.

The only thing I'm wondering about Korra is what her spirit animal is gonna be. Maybe a wolf or some kinda dog?

@Geth Knight: I was responding to a post about Kyoshi (can't remember if it was yours) and this is what happens when a post using an ^ is victim to a super ninja'ing.

@thatother1dude: My idea is that an Avatar's appearance in the Spirit World was based on how they looked during their greatest achievement.wild mass guess

  • Roku: When he stopped a cataclysmic volcanic eruption (the rest of his life looked relatively uneventful).
  • Kyoshi: When she defeated Chin the Conqueror and created Kyoshi Island.
  • Aang: Possibly when he defeated Ozai.

I get it now. Was just going off half remembered images of some episodes. And what I've read here on Tvtropes.

So spirit!Aang will be twelve? That's kind of lame.

Possibly. But he could of done other significant things during the rest of his life, so who knows. And I kind of like the idea that the new Avatar gets instructed by a goofy 12 year-old instead of the Roku-esque figure she was expecting.

I don't know, Aang would work best if he keeps his personality but grows a mustache.

Aang needs to grow as a character. After all, who you are at eighty is different than who you are twelve.

I honestly want Avatar to go the Kamen Rider route, where the new series really only shares the basic concept but uses it as a springboard for a new story.

I'm of the opinion that the form we see of the past Avatars is simply the form they're most comfortable with— the body image they see themselves as, or identify themselves with. So Roku and Kyoshi are old and young-ish because that's the way they see themselves. In that case, Aang would be whatever age he was most comfortable at.

I also think Aang being assassinated is a strong possibility, due to his relative young age. I interpreted Bryke's comment about time wasting in the iceberg as them trying to soften the blow of losing Aang— "Oh, he didn't really die at 66, he's 166, so that's not nearly so depressing! *uncomfortable smiles*" sad

Also, I mentioned it in the other thread but I'm also calling it here: Toph, Queen of Omashu. Respect it.

Thanks for the all fish!

I was thinking Aang was assassinated because of the Anti-benders the article talked about, and it made me think of Fable 2 and the destruction of the Hero's Guild.

And I would love Toph as Queen.

It's definitely going to be very different. The creators outright stated that they were going for a more mature feel, possibly acknowledging that their Periphery Demographic was at least as big as their primary demographic. Plus, it's not a sweeping fantasy epic, it's all set in one city. I could easily imagine a whole series set in Ba Sing Se, and this is going to be even bigger, plus it's a melting pot with people from all different races and walks of life. My guess? Korra will be fighting for social reform and/or trying to prevent civil war. Recurring antagonists could be the mafia or corrupt bureaucrats.
