Due to a recent thread, I have been given the following mental image of the creative process behind Insane Clown Posse.
Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope are sitting at a small table in their recording studio. J is fiddling with some magnets
Shaggy: I dunno man, I think we may have run out of material, you know?
J grunts frustratedly, trying to put two North-end magnets together
Shaggy: Maybe it's time to retire the ICP....
J continues to grunt in frustration
Shaggy: I mean. I can't think of anything else to write a song about.
J throws his magnets
J: FUCKING MAGNETS!!! HOW DO THEY WORK??!!
Shaggy: You're a genius, J! Quick! Get out the pad! We have to think of things that rhyme with "work"!

I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....^^ Insightful
^High & Mighty - Home Field Advantage on good old Rawkus. B-Boy Document with Mos Def and The Last Hit with Eminem were the first tracks of theirs I heard. And they collaborated with Princess Superstar on her major debut..
Souls Of Mischief I've shamefully never checked besides their appearances on Aim's No Restriction and the Quannum Spectrum album. They're part of the Hierolglyphics collective though.
Blackalicious.. Where to start. I saw Gift Of Gab recently, his memory and breath control are both unreal. I recommend Alphabet Aerobics, Swan Lake, Just What Can Happen. Album-wise most people say Nia, just to be different I say Blazing Arrow.
I recently got given a mixtape Edan did called Echo Party using existing, mainly 80s tracks and adding to them musically. Other than that I got nothing, but he's on Stones Throw.
Hopefully that qualifies as info, as opposed to detail attack.
I got Abdominal's album the other day, one of the most technically gifted MCs out there. Video
.
Edan is one of the best rappers currently out, I recomend "Clinical Rhymes"
SOM and Black are not in regular rotation for me, so I can't help you (though I know Gift of Gab from the Mighty Underdogs, and he's good).
I've never forgiven Mighty from High&Mighty for the whole business with Eastcon, so my opinion is nothing but negative.
Also rumors of Aesop Rock moving to a major label are untrue.

I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....El-P means "El Producto" which is gratuitous spanish for "The Producer"
What has a video?
edit: Haha, nevermind. Yeah Gunfight had a cool video.

I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....Oh, I mean I googled for Def Jux and realised they're not doing physical releases (?) or something. At the time El-P made that statement on the site, I guess I missed that point. I know a couple of people who'll be pleased that he's going to be doing more music, but I see it leaves the other artists at a potential lose end, however temporary.
edit: heh, and El Producto is also the title of The Avalanches' underground aussie EP from the late nineties- worth a listen, incidentally!

...is out to lunch.Keny Arkana has some good music. I'm acquiring her stuff now. BTW: French Rap. Anyone know some good international rap music (French and Japanese mainly - but anything goes!)
vid where I found out.

Greece is crazy lately.
Japan: Breakthrough
- DJ-producers doing nu-jazz and broken beats influenced hip hop with guest MCs on later editions of the album.
France: Saian Supa Crew's KLR
. Probably the most entertaining hip hop collective of recent years.
So, to my knowledge (info's been hard to get) this is the first song Aesop Rock's been on this year.
The main track is by Primor, who -to be honest- I've never heard of.
edit: Ah, wow, I fail at reading.
Apparently Primor is the name of the song. Dark Time Sunshine is the group, and it's fronted by Onry Ozzbourn.

I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....

There's really no point in doing so.
