Doesn't that minimize the enjoyment, on such a small screen? tongue

I'm used to doing it, being the "busy" student that I am. No Really. Hell, I was even able to watch the entirety of the first season of Clannad on my iPod. Since it's a Key Ani adaptation, it's Scenery Porn bait.

It's also because when I'm at home, I end up going here all too often instead of actually watching the shows themselves. Except when I'm in the school library and am, once again, visiting this place. smile

The Coldlight fansub was the healthiest the last I checked for Striker S, so I dont' think you'll have much of an option other than to go with the DVD version anyway. It's in .mkv encoding, and it's a 7.4 Gb batch of 26 episodes.

Well, the first two series aren't too bad, they're only about 3 Gb each. If you could put up with retina straining resolution you could resort to youtube; the first two seasons have been uploaded, I think. I wouldn't recommend it, though.

And also, you watched Clannad on iPod? O_o?

Only the first season though. I did, I was in school, and when Fuko's arc was about to end I had to run off to the nearest bathroom. I did not want to explain to my friends why I was crying over something I was watching on my iPod. tongue

I have to agree with Smokie on this issue though; watching Nanoha on the iPod is a completely different proposition from watching Clannad, because there's a lot of movement going on, even if the scenery isn't quite as lush as the Kyo Ani stuff.

When all that Beam Spam starts up, you won't be able make much out on the iPod's small screen.

And now I'm suddenly really annoyed that I'm probably not going to get the chance to see Nanoha in the theatre, not unless I contrive to be in Japan early February next year. Which is not impossible, just very unlikely.

As someone who's watched nearly all of Nanoha on a small portable device (with an even smaller screen than the iPod)... it still works, if you're used to that kind of watching.

The StrikerS subtitles were a bit harder to read, but it's not as if the actual dialogue was that important.

Well, some of it was; there is a lot of exposition. The patter's still quite lively, though, even if it's not of prime importance to the plot or anything.

I watched Code Geass on the iPod too, and it was fine (guess I'm prolly used to watching on small screens)

Just to bump this, but:

I can't find any healthy torrents for A's. Can someone kindly direct me to a healthy one? Thanks so much. smile

BUMP:

This is for you, zeroplusalpha, since you're going to watch HNKN soon.

The characters are translated as "When Teana Lanster Cries." Too bad she isn't cosplaying as Rena though.

Wicked pic smile

Actually, I just remembered that there's a bit in Striker S where Nanoha expresses her disappointment over Teana's performance during a battle simulation.

It was later fixed on DVD, but her facial expression on the TV versions is often described as Higurashi-like; I'm sure it wasn't intentional, but it would be amusing if it were.

They were forcing Training from Hell onto themselves and Nanoha said "NO U!" to that, because of her own past experience with Heroic RRoD

Learned today that Nanoha (first season at least) has been licensed. Does anyone know if the official subs are any good?

A's was also licenced. I have the DVDs for the first season in my room; haven't watched it yet. I'm sure the official subs are fine  *

. The dub I've heard...mixed things about.

I checked out the Nanoha dub once from Youtube clip and at "And now with greatest power", I lost it and...

I don't know how the DVD subs are, I just know that I cringed at Haruhi's DVD subs. "Future men" for time traveler? Seriously? I don't fucking care if "miraijin" literally means future men... USE YOUR BRAIN, TRANSLATOR. Not to mention the dub actually had extremely good dialogue/wording, so it was kinda annoying seeing that being turned into uninteresting babble in the subs.

I had to redownload my Nanoha because I accidentally downloaded the dubbed one. Thought I'd listen to it for a bit and......

Sorry, Yukari Tamura still wins.

Nanoha just wouldn't be the same without Yukari Tamura and Nana Mizuki; I've associated those voices with the characters so much that to me they've become conceptually inseparable.

Seriously? I don't fucking care if "miraijin" literally means future men...

That cracked me up so much. I avoid dubs of all languages religiously, on principle, but I didn't know translators were so Literal-Minded.

I wonder what they would make of Taiga's "Baka Inu!"

Horse Deer Dog?

No.

Well, with content I haven't yet seen. Looks fucking awesome. Fights look awesome. Nanoha's new design is also awesome. I can't wait.

.... I think I'm in love with the new device designs... Raising Heart looks so awesome...

The fights look amazing too. And it looks like the transformation sequences are going to be shorter and less naked than in the original. It's going to be interesting (and tear-jerking) to see more of Fate's backstory with Precia and Alicia. I'm also keen to find out more about Linith. And DAMN, Arf is cute...
