Even 1's original aesthetics and audio presentation was fucked with in the PSP version. better translation by miles, but there's a lot of little flourishes and notable tracks only in the original game.
Remakes could do with the Desu events if thhey want more story. The dungeon crawling doesn't leave much room between plot chunks.
Also 1 would mean losing out on potentially three entire developed characters since you have to pick.
So It just so happens I got P 5 R for Christmas. Havent had the time to dig into it yet, but im eager to finally try it out and see what's improved and changed. Tho I must admit, after emberassingly failing to max out the Sun confidant in P5 vanilla, im tempted to look through a walkthrough for prime social link days.
no shame in that. I found this guide
particularly helpful myself.
God, I was an idiot when I first started 5. I spent pretty much all the free time the game gave me grinding in Mementos, and barely did any Confidants. Didn't even max out any non-story progressed Confidants, barring Kasumi since it's only 5 ranks and the rest are unlocked in the Third Semester.
I can't say goodbye to yesterday…You go from "I am just a level 1 goblin, please don't hurt me 🥺" to BOW DOWN BEFORE THE ONE YOU SERVE, YOU'RE GOING TO GET WHAT YOU DESERVE. I ended entire mini boss fights on his palace just by spamming Joker's pistol.
I can't say goodbye to yesterday…Watching an LP of Persona 1.
So it has "you can't see anything" rooms like SJ. Or I guess SJ has rooms like P1'S or probably just a old Mega Ten CLICHE.
It's bad. Worse than teleporter puzzles, gonna say it now.

That reminds me how I went through EGG Facility in DDS 2 the second time without realizing I had items to light it up and mostly trusting my mini map
To be fair, it made this visit extra creepy and very memorable.
Just finished a drawing of Akechi in a Meido outfit with a plate of pancakes and I feel like I just sold my soul to Lucifer.
I can't say goodbye to yesterday…

so, not gonna lie, given i actually went and played Persona 2: innocent sin, because i heard the concepts in and found it interesting enough i just had to play it, but found the dungeon crawling core game play a slog, I would love a modern style persona game that takes some of the core concepts of p2note and remixes them into a package that actual uses the ideas more than what felt like window dressing for old school dungeon crawling.
