Interesting to hear nobody liks him in the third semester or whatever it is. That was always the complaint I've seen about him; that the Phantom Thieves show him undue sympathy or kindness.
Reminds me of a sort of accusation of sexism I've seen with regards to the Palace creators. Only Sae, the woman, gets to be redeemed and turn out good. I don't agree with this criticism, I've just seen it here and there. Besides, my point is Akechi is right there as a boy who the narrative is unusually kind to compared to most of the bad guys in the game.
And he's nothing like Snape in any way.
Yeah, Snape’s more of a Wild Card (pun intended) that nobody on either side can 100% trust.
The legend has returned.Harry Potter with Persona abilities in place of normal magic and written by the guy who wrote Peter Jackson (Forgot his name) would be retroactively be better then the actual Harry Potter, NGL.
Especially because of, well, J.K Rowling's reputation at the moment...

Watch SymphogearNobody ever does.
But we all hate something.
Hate is our greatest resource. We'd solve all energy crises if we could harness it.
One Strip! One Strip!Thats Yosuke, actually, who's actually more popular then any protagonist in Japan.
For some reason.
Watch SymphogearDifferent standards I guess.
Clearly, something about his clicked in a good way over there, rather than people being massively turned off by some of the shit he pulls like in the west.
One Strip! One Strip!

I think there's something pretty smart about Akechi's change of personality in the third semester and both chracterizations of him can be true, and you can explain the change pretty organically.
Akechi used to have regrets of scenarios that didn't came true. What if he had learned about change of hearts before it was too late ? What if Joker had been there for him before he became a monster ? What if he could have been happy once in his life ?
But then the third semester came along, gave everyone everything they ever wanted, and Akechi rejected that reality on the basis he refused to let his life be decided by anyone but himself, and that a perfect reality is ultimately boring anyway. So. In doing so. He moved on from his past regrets and finally let them go. Because he just rejected the opportunity for those scenarios to come true.
Yes, those hypothetical scenarios would have been lovely, but they didn't happened. No use lamenting over what's been done. Only reality remains, and the only thing to do with it is accept it and make the most of it.
Don't sleep throu~gh dre~ams, that can't come true...
