I like Nocturne but it's not a great game. Plus between PSN and emulators, a lot of folks can experience the PS 2 SMT library.
The 3DS games are generally much better and also harder to play given they are stuck on just one mobile console. All the arguments for rescuing Golden from the Vita can be used here, basically.

Except it has almost nothing of what a Persona fan might like about Persona. They might like it for its own strengths but I would never say "if you like Persona, check out this dungeon crawler with four or five characters of note and you only interact with most of them two or three times all game."
I suggest the Devil Survivor games, especially 2, or SMTIV Apcoalypse for Persona fans who want to get into SMT. Heavy emphasis on characters and relationships but with SMT ideas and themes.
But some folks might be like me and start with Strange Journey and love it as much as Nu Persona. But you can't guarantee that sorta thing. And even Strange Journey has a stronger emphasis on plot and characters than Nocturne.
Ehhh, not very fond of Apocalypse.
I think the OG IV is a better introduction. Like that game doesn't shit on the Chaos and Law scale.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Apocalypse is fine, honestly it brings to light a lot of things about IV that were buried and so people came to unfortunate implications.
Like "Make Japan Great Again" and "Archangel Gabriel is the worse" are why everything bad happens in IV, and we only know that thanks to Appcalypse.
Also IV lacks Hallelujah. So thats already a marl against it.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Like don't get me wrong, i think Apocalypse is a fine game but it rubs me the wrong way in certain places.
Like i preferred that the backstory was vague, so we had to draw our own conclusions in contrast to Apocalypse which gives away the mystery. Or how Apocalypse shits on the Law and Chaos choice.
But i will say this, siding with Dagda is a great time.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Given that Apocalypse canonizes the inherent necessity of the Law/Chaos dichotomy in the Diamond Realm DLC by showing Aleph and Demi-Fiend as respective representatives of each alignment, I don't think the game really has anything inherently negative to say about the system itself.
Krishna says it himself that humanity doesn't lose its way as a result of Law or Chaos, but rather that the game has been so rigged from the start that nothing meaningful can come from it.
Well it's just that the way game presents the law and chaos choices even if it makes it out to be rigged bothers me.
Like sure Nanashi really has little reason to go for either team, and that one could argue Bonds and Massacre are the true Law and Chaos but ehhh.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Because Apocalypse is a story about how the system is rigged to the same cycle of repetition for all of eternity based on the machinations of one guy who wants to keep everything in lockstep. It's a game about the Neutral alignment as an expression of bonds or through taking power for yourself.
Gaston and Toki are the alignment heroes, they just don't flip out and turn on you because they massage their beliefs into something that can be achieved through cooperation. Gaston starts out as a smug believer in the caste system and realizes that he should be devoting himself to his fellows. Toki is an emotionless doll driven by violence and realizes that her pursuit of strength is something she doesn't have to give up her humanity to achieve.
If they remake nocturne (Like the SMT V team wants to do) They need to fix some of the more aggravating aspects of the original, which, while still great, has some serious issues.
Like, this one..:

Persona 4 Golden has reached 500,000 sales on PC.
Where's my SMTIV Apocalypse port.
